I don't see why you have an issue with people that want to stay on 14. The fact that people don't like that EA has the audacity to charge $60 for a game that is utter garbage, and therefore don't want to support their "new" product on either console is well within their right. Now I'm not saying it is necessarily in the best interest of LG, but calling people nubs or idiots because they have some sense of self-respect and don't want to support EA's bullshit is more idiotic than anything else in this thread. There's a reason why this is getting voted on, and go figure, the NHL 14 side is actually winning the last I checked, maybe if more people shared this mentality the game would actually improve and they wouldn't get away with doing next to nothing each and every year.

I'm going to preface this post by stating two things:

1) I do not plan on returning in the near future due to real life commitments, meaning that I have no horse in this race.
2) This next "calendar" year is going to be incredibly tough regardless of which game LG decides to use.

I've viewed this thread quite a bit since it was started (I need something read while taking a dump, right?) so I think I can TL;DR both sides of the argument.

TL;DR for NHL 14:

1) FUCK EA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They took 6s (and by the sounds of it, everything else) out of the Next Gen version.
2) We already have our cards so we don't have to go hard/boost/live for it to get our players to a playable level.
3) NHL 15 is NHL 14 in a new box.

TL;DR for NHL 15:

1) We always have moved forward, so why stop now?
2) The servers for NHL 14 suck beyond belief.
3) I'm sick of NHL 14 and the bullshit that comes with it.

Both sides have very fair arguments, however, there are a couple of things which I'm curious to know. What happens when the 14 servers become even more unplayable? What happens if (or when) the majority of the league becomes sick of NHL 14 and wants to move to NHL 15 (or even, does move to 15) after the holidays? What happens if (or when) NHL 15 is the same shit in a different box and people quit playing? What happens when numbers are down and the league is maybe 20 teams? Are people interested in playing in a potentially diluted league night in and night out? The problems I'm seeing here make me think that this could really be a lose-lose situation no matter which game LG chooses to use.

The question then becomes, which game gives the LGHL, LGAHL, LGCHL and Pro Series the best chance to survive? Do you choose potentially limited growth with NHL 14 (ie, you basically use what you already have plus or minus, say, 300 players off the bat)? OR do you hope that NHL 15 will have a larger community than NHL 14, which will allow for players to be replaced throughout the course of the year? I'm seeing a lot of posts based on emotion here, which I totally understand (you guys aren't the only league to express this, mind you), but the decision needs to be made based on long term suggestions as opposed to a quick, reactionary decision. Players need to commit to their decision for two full seasons, so ask yourself, can you tolerate NHL 14 for another year or are you willing to risk moving to a new game which might be the same as the previous version? That's what this really boils down to.

Early news from a man who played NHL 15 on 360/ps3 for 1 hour:

So basically the only change that we thought was in the game, isn't in the game. We'd paying $60 to have Bergeron's face and a new announcer. Basically people that say they're "tired of NHL 14" have no basis for that now because 15 is 14.

Also what I'm getting out of this is EA removed EVERYTHING from the XB1 and PS4 versions, and changed nothing on the PS3/XB360 versions. What the fuck did they do all year, jack each other off? Are we actually even going to consider purchasing 15 still? Move to 15 because they could POTENTIALLY have better servers? I get the whole what's best for the league point of view, but either way we're going to lose a shit ton of people. We can't look at this and say "well we did it every other year might as-well switch over this year too" because that is just a stupid argument. At some point we have to stand up and stop taking shit just because it has a higher number on the cover when it's the same game.

The way I see it, we can switch to 15 and everybody has to grind their L3's again while playing 14 with a new logo, or we can stay on 14 which is a game everyone already has and pick up the people from leagues that are switching to 15. The only real reason I see for people wanting to switch was that they're tired of playing 14, well that reason is out the window with this.

We have a couple thousand members in this league, if we decide as a league to not buy 15 EA's number's will drop by a significant amount and EA will be forced to get their shit together or all be out of a job if they continue putting out trash.

 

Like I said.. tomorrow I will cross the blue line, flip the puck into the zone.. If it bounces like a tennis ball I will be shutting the game off.
