I'm not really seeing an option to block IP's on an ATT Uverse router.

A quick trace route gave me the results of connection to Amsterdam and UK, so how would I go about doing this?

Just a couple of questions. I have a linksys e1200 and can only block the url under access policy. Does blocking the url in this fashion work just as well as blocking the ip? I called linksys and they said I can only block the url and it was for Web browsing only.

My second question is, is there a list of certain routers that you can block ip's with? I will go out and buy a new router if it is within a reasonable price range. Please if anyone could message me on here or Xbox that would be great. Thanks.

Most newer model Linksys routers have this function incorporated into the router. If I am not mistaken, there have been a number of users with this model that have had success blocking out the URL in the keyword section along with the IP in order to stop communication. There is also a dd-wrt program that you can run on your router in order to block the IP, but as Jeebs stated before, it may or may not work as it is not in the actual routing coding to perform the function. Best bet would be to google routers that have the capability of blocking IP addresses from a source IP, and make an informed decision as to whether or not you want to purchase one or not. Purchasing a new router does not guarantee you will be able to run the fix to resolve your issue 100%, but you can base your purchase off what others have done in order to decide if you are going to get one or not. Do your homework on who has the router, and what ISP they have (and geographical location to you), before thinking about getting one only to fix this issue

Tried this thought I had it, got the delay.

Just to be clear if I enter http://gosprodfeapp0392.ea.com/ into Blocked Key words list, it should be blocked correct?

Im not seeing any other area to place the IP or Site.

It's not possible, and you also aren't allowed to use your own router/modem with Bell.

Same as the last guy, not possible with Bell.

Ozzy nothing I said is misleading, I have a degree in network engineering and a decade of experience in the field, I'm trying my best to clear up the insane confusion around here.

"Input delay" is a misnomer, it's lag, plain and simple. You can get spikes (dropped packets, where it speeds up slows/down) which is probably what you think I mean by lag, I don't. The very fact you think blocking a Euro server would work, means you think it's lag.

Everything I said is applicable. This won't work for MANY routers, and many ISP's force their own equipment. For the people lucky enough to have the option to block IP's in the router, this "fix" is not even close to a guarantee. For one, EA owns the whole IP block, you'll have to ban another 20 or so IP's in europe. It's called a cluster. I have logs from my own games connected to that euro location only a few IP's down that I had input delay on.

This fix may have helped some, but it is nowhere close to being able to be effective for more than half the community. People should know this before pulling their hair out.

There is ONE thing people who have no option in their router to ban an IP, but it requires some real skill.

You will need your own DNS server. There are guides out there, you'll either need a cloud provider of DNS, or an extra home computer you can install linux on and run dns/bind9 server. Then you can easily add a rule to block resolving of that euro server.

This is what I do, all my home traffic on Bell Fibe goes through my own server first which acts like a custom router. I can block, and inspect traffic at will.

This is the same thing I have on my home network. Also the reason why I haven't uploaded photos to the site to make a walk through.

I have my own router hooked up also because the Bell Fibe Connection Hub Modem doesn't have enough ports. Should I hook my XBOX ethernet into my router instead? It is a LINKSYS E2500

So it has been about a week since I implemented this and it does appear to have substantially reduced the incident of captain lag. One night I am going to disable the IP block and see if there is a noticeable decline in connection quality. I was skeptical, but now am leaning towards this being an effective (but not 100%) technique for mitigating captain lag.
