Houston Texans General Infomation Thread

Season 7 Looks to be a new beginning for the rejected Texans who got all the way to the superbowl only to lose in the last quarter. David Carr and Domanick Williams have been benched because of their impending release in July. Sage Rosenfels, Chris Taylor, and Ron Dayne looked to fill in the gap. What will the season hold. We'll see.

WEEK 1 TEXANS 45, PATRIOTS 35

Crazy game in the Reliant stadium where both teams seem'd alittle scatter brained in the early season but it got started with a bang... maroney broke loose to start the game 78 yards for the TD. Texans were able to get close with a big run by D.williams. K.Brown makes it 7-3. on the next patriot offensive play. Shante orr hits Brady and jars the ball loose.. mario Williams picks it up and gets the Texans their first lead. late in the 1st qtr, Houston was drivign again until D.Carr was picked off by E.Wilson and he runs it back 74 yards making it 14-10 New England. Brady and Co. On another pick would get it in again making it 21-10 by a maroney 3 yard run. Momentum would swing in Houston's favor when Andre Johnson is interfered with giving the Texans 1st and Goal at the 1 yard line.. D.Williams would do the rest. Making it 21-17 NE. In the 3rd qtr the barn Doors flew off. Houston gaining confidence on 3rd down Carr drops back and hits A.Johnson for a 56 yd scoring play. After NE int, dayne would score from 7 yards out. brady would drive the field getting his team in scoring range until CC Brown picks him off and scampers 94 yards for the TD making it.. 38-21. Brady feeling that he had to rally his team moved the ball inside Houston Territory and Finds Gaffney from 39 yards out.. 38-28 HOU. Texans looking to stick the fork in the game houston went to the run game and when Carr felt that he had a chance.. He throws it to Jeb Putizer from 30 yard away. Brady late would get Childress all alone 80 yard scoring play but that's as close as they would come.. Final score 45-35 Houston > Crackin good luck on the rest of the way..

WEEK 9 COLTS 30, TEXANS 20

Texans never got going in the 1st half and the Colts took advantage. Two quick plays by Manning setups a FG. Colts tested the Texan D when Texans were flagged for roughing the kicker. Next Colts Possession Joseph Addai breaks loose on teh first play. Making it 10-0. Texans shellshocked, Cook fumbles the ball and gives the colts Great Field position. Manning findes Bam Childress to go up 17-0. Texans finally move the ball but Carr is picked off giving the Colts another FG. 20-0 at the half.. Finally Houston gets their act together. Andre Johnson gets wide open to get the Texans on the board. 20-7. Colts again drive the field and manning hits Stokley from 43 yds out. ON the next Colts possession Manning is picked off by G.Earl. Three plays later Carr finds Johnson from 9 yards out. Colts would add a FG in the 4th Quarter. Making it 30-14. Houston's last quality possession of the game, Carr on 3rd down finds D.Anderson to move the chains to midfield.. Two Plays later Andre Johnson makes a sweet catch to later setup a D.Williams 1 yard score.. ON the 2pt conv try, Williams is rejected at the goalline. Pink..

Some how i screwed up the audio during taping because i was trying to get the announcers as well.. that seem to conflict with Windows movie maker so every move took like 2 minutes.. The 2nd half i barely got it down to 10mins.. Thats why you wont see that many captions..

AFC Championship Game:
TEXANS 27, JETS 17

An incredible game In Houston as we determined the AFC Champion. Jet's came out hitting on all cylinders and Houston was quickly rocked by on their heels. Jet's D wouldnt allow Williams or Dayne to get anywhere in the 1st quarter . And a Great sack by Robertson made the Texans have to punt. New York wasted little time showing why they made thus far. Washington just pummeled the Texans D 2 quick runs for 13+ yds. ON 1st down Pennington tried the long ball but D.Robinson wasnt having any of it.. A drag route to coles set up a 3rd down and short .. ANd #34 Houston did the rest, busting loose 37yds to paydirt. Next possession Carr, who plagued by interception in the last meeting, throws a pick setting the Jets up would great Field position. Goalline stand by the Houston D prevents anything more than a FG. Next Possession for the Texans is alot like the first having to punt. But ont he Jets first play, Travis johnson breaks through the O-line and smears Pennington who fumbles the ball.. Johnson picksit up and rumbles 28 yds for the TD. Next Jets poss... Houston changes Defense mentality and sends the blitz forcing a 3 and out. A Great punt return by mathis has the houston faithfull rocking.. Houston plays it safe and gets the FG to tie the game up.. The jets looked to score late in the 1st half and Pennington finds his fav receiver in Coles and gets them down to teh 20 but on the next play D.Robinson picks off the ball.. Texans already using all 3 of its timeouts get into the redzone but cant pick up any points before the half.. In the 3rd, the two Conference Titans slug it out. Houston grabs a long FG from 54 yards out to gain the lead. 13-10.. in the 4th Houston gets an INT and D.Williams does the rest going 17 yards to put the texans up by 10.. Pennington on the next possession looks to coles but the Defense has him double cover (although he almost came up with it). Next play mccreins is wide open down the field that would later set up a C.Houston run of a yard to bring the Jets within 3. Houston not looking to slump at the end, gambled throwing it to johnson who gets positionand takes off 78 yards for the TD 27-17. Jets would march again but a late INT would seal the deal.. A Great game.. nothing can be said about this game except that it was incredible..

Divisional Playoff Match
TEXANS 20, Steelers 7

Rematch From last years Divisional Playoff Game Pitting Houston against the Steelers.. Coach Edge lead the Ravens Last year to the Divisional round and was wanting to take some revenge. Coach No knew what he was getting into this week.. He had to stop the run and stop the turnovers on offense. And He Drilled it in to the players in practice but would they remember. The Defense remembered every word but Domanick 'Davis' Williams must have been sleeping. Houston forced the Steelers to punt all throughout the first half. Key sacks by Mario Williams and Travis Johnson lead the team out of harms way when the Pittsburgh Offense sniffed for the redzone. Texans Got on the board first with a great pass to A.Johnson for 76 yds to open the scoring. Steelers D would force a FG try from the 37 but a Roughing the kicker called renewed the Texans drive and Houston made sure they put up points with a FG by K.Brown. 10-0 at halftime. Houston again would march down the field with a quick drag to Johnson setting up the Texans up in the redzone but the Steel Curtain wouldnt allowing anything but a FG.. 13-0. IN the 4th Big Ben trying to convert a 3rd down was picked off by Rookie Sensation Demeco Ryans and He rumbled 69yds for a lead-stretching TD. Next Kickoff W.Reid would make unbelieveble return. Getting by everybody cutting into the Texans Margin. But that would be all the Steelers could muster. On 4th Down, Big Ben's center would get in the way ending the season for the Steelers who had a terrific year. Great Game Edge.. Class act for sure and I hope for the best man See you next season..

WEEK 1 TEXANS 26, EAGLES 10
1st qtr.. ON the texans first possession... Davis and Dayne would pound the ball running 8 plays finished off with a Ron Dayne 9 yard run. ON the next few possessions The housotn d would hold off several attacks from McNabb and his trusty receiver D. Stallworth ... Eagles would get a FG and on the next Texans possession. Brown would Intercept the ball and camper 37 yards to give the Eagles the Lead 10-7. With little time remaining in the half Texans get a 53 yd FG. 10-10 at the half. Both Offense would stall on their first possessions of the 2nd half. Finally K.Brown would give the Texans the lead 13-10. Texans would get a big run by Davis to set up the 1 yard Dayne run to make the lead 10. K.Brown would add 2 more FG's in Garbage Time. Brokenpost... Thanks for your patience.. Week 2: Texans 37, Colts 10
Great game.. Started off with a bang both teams came out swinging.. Off the opening kickoff T.Rushing took it all the way for the first score of the game.. Then on the Texans first possesion.. D.Davis broke loose for 80 yards. a Bad Pass would set up the Colts for a FG try making it 10-7 Colts at the end of the 1st qtr. After that it was all texans D. Davis and R. Dayne would move Houston to 17 pts in the 2nd and never looked back.. Great Machine..

WEEK 3 TEXANS 20, REDSKINS 14
Houston, TX - Another great coaching rivarly on tap for today... and what a game it would be.. Redskins would jump up first in the 1st qtr when Davis would fumble the ball and W.Holdman would take it 32 yards for the TD. In the second great passing setup a 1 yard TD run by Dayne to add to the FG earlier in the 2nd qtr. making it 10-7 at the half. In the 3rd Carr would hook up with Johnson on a Wr screen with great blocking leading him to the TD.. 17-7. Redskins make it interesting when Driving the field in the 4th and Sellers crossing the Goalline .. Texans would end the scoring and escape redskins 20-14.

WEEK 6 COWBOYS 24, TEXANS 10
A big Game in big D. Where the cowboys looked to get some revenge after a 4th qtr let down last year. Dallas came in with a lot of Moxy and proved that they are for real in the NFC East. First Drive Bledsoe hit Glenn Twice and finished up with a 6 yard TD Score to Whitten.. Carr Answered hitting Johnson from 16 yards out... After a hiccup by Bledsoe and a fine sack by spears.. Bledsoe would hit Whitten again going 57 yards to finish the score at the half 14-7. Houston in the second would get down inside scoring position quick but couldnt break through and settle for a FG.. 14-10. Dallas would answer in the same manner getting close but ultimately getting a FG out of the drive 17-10.. But the Texans had their first and only turnover ... A fumble by dayne that would give Dallas exactly what they needed.. A quick pass to Whitten and a fine run by their FB.. Gave barber the momentum to get the 24 on the board.. Houston would struggle.. dallas would sack them 3 more times Gandy getting 2 sacks back to back.. Final score 24-10.. ARMY..

WEEK 7: TEXANS 20, Jaguars 17
Houston, TX - Texans looking to bounce back from a tough game a couple weeks ago in Jacksonville and the Jaguars needed to a win to keep pace in the wild card race.. Big Game for both. And it looked like early Jacksonville would do it again to the Texans... After a quick pick on Carr first pass... Leftwich hit M.Jones from 18 yds out. Next possession Texans go 3 and out and the nemesis in the last rematch broke it loose again.. Taylor goes 62 yds for the 14-0 touchdown lead.. But after a quick regroup on the side lines Davis would open up the passing game for Carr and the gameplan worked.. Carr finding Cook out of the backfield 16 yds out... Another good Defensive stand by the Texans and Mathis would give Houston good field position setting up a K.Brown FG from 48 yds out... With little of the half remaining.. CC.Brown would catch an INT off Leftwich on 3rd down which pretty much did the same as a punt would do... But it left 2 secs on the clock. Just enough time for Carr to hit Johnson 71 yards to end he half and give the Texans their first lead 17-10. Staggered but not knocked down Jacksonville would come up big moving the ball and pushing the Texans to the breaking point with 2nd and 1 on the 30.. Mario williams would come up with a big Sack to set them back and eventually settling for a FieldGoal.. Tied at 17... Both teams in the 4th would start at their 7 and both teams would struggle... Texans with 2 mins left in the game hit all the right people to set up a 48 yd FG with 38 secs.. And the Defense would hold.. Both teams seem to struggle on 3rd down . alot of bad throws by Carr and the Jaguar O-line would be pourish Giving up 6 sacks on the day.. JUst an excellent game to be apart of and hope the Jags make the playoffs should be a good 1. GL Kaabik

Week 8: TEXANS 26, TITANS 10
Last game of the season for the texans, hopefully an omen to what might take place in the playoffs. Houston's defense effectively stopped the Vince young show and laid waste to the clock with a solid run game by rookie Chris Taylor. Domanick Williams was rested in this game and the Dayne,Taylor show' plauded along giving the Texans substantial help. David Carr who has been a bit erratic at times put a great game together with a 6/10 peformance finding Mathis on an Out route at the 20 and he did the rest.. Another Rookie, David Anderson ran back a 95 yd kickoff return just before the half as the Texans' went on to win 26-10. coach shotta was upbeat and confident during the game when he felt his team would score they did.. Calling at time out in garbage time with 30 secs left.. coach shotta said he wanted to score a td and low and behold Woolfork went 87 yds for the Titans Loan td.. great game shotta.. GL on the rest of the way..

WEEK 9 TEXANS 31, GIANTS 17
meadowlands - Great game between the two unlikely rivals.. Last Year coach Gitto was the Colts head Coach and Houston left a bad taste in their mouth after two dibilitating wins. Houston would go on and reach the AFC Championship while the Colts Set at home wondering what might have been. Now Giotto is with the Giants and his legacy as been 'Shockey-esque'. With tyrades in the press and trash talk.. Houston Looked to continue their winning ways and hold off the Giants... And Texans got started early... Giants with good field position were knocking on the door when Marlon Greenwood Picks off the Manning pass and rumbles 73 yards for the Touchdown. 7-0 Texans. in the 2nd qtr.. Carr would find Moulds and would set up the Davis 3 yd run 14-0 Texans.. Later Moulds would find the endzone from 37 yds out 21-0 at the half.. But Giants had some tricksup their sleeve for the 2nd half... Toomer became Mannings favorite target when he would hook up with him to set up a 5 yd jacobs run... Carr would be intercepted on next drive by Madison but the texan D would hold and make the Giants settle for a FG. 21-10. After another bum outting by Houston on the first play Manning finds toomer on a streak, 55 yds for the Touchdown 21-17 Texans.. But that's as close as houston would let them get. Carr copies the manning toomer connection and hits Johnson in the same fashion. for 79 yd td strike... Houston Would hold and add a fg to end all scoring... 31-17 Final.> giotto GL on the rest of the season..

WEEK 10 JAGUARS 40, TEXANS 28
Jacksonville, FL - The 1st of two meetings between these teams and what a wild day for D.Carr and the high powered offense. Finding players from both teams for completion, Carr looked horrible and Great all in one game. His mistakes would over shadow his exploits. In the 1st Half the Texans Defense would keep the Jaguars close after 3 INTs and a fumble by their offense... Score was 20-14. In the 2nd half the Jaguars relied on F.Taylor who would break loose twice to seal the Deal and take one from the Texans...

WEEK 11 TEXANS 13, BILLS 10
Great Game in Houston Both teams felt they matched up well. And both felt they could score touchdowns on the respective defenses. WRONG!.. Both offense struggled while both defenses seemed to find the right fix just in time. Also while the bills kickoff special teams excelled, the Texans punt coverage might have won the game for houston.. This is how the game went down.. HOuston's First 3 possessions were inside their own 25 yard line.. And couldnt get nothing going... Texans D would bend but not break causing the bills to punt in Houston Territory. The First score on the day came from a Parrish Fumble and few plays later, D.Davis woudl run in from 22 yds out.. with 32 secs left on the clock.. Score 7-0 Texans. IN the 3rd. R.Parrish would take one to the house on the openinng kickoff of the 2nd half.. 104 yards to paydirt. Texans would add a FG making it 10-7 at the end of the 3rd Qtr. Bills would rally consistently moving the ball down the Field.. A Crucial play, ON 3rd Down.. R. Parrish Drop what could have been the game winner.. And the bills would settle fora Lindell 38 yd FG to Tie the Game with 1:44. Houston hoping for some last minute heroics as in their last game.. Would turn to Their Running back.. That's right.. Houston pushed the bills defense but ended up punting with 26 secs left on the clock.. Buffalo would run a few plays to end regulation. IN OT. Houston won the coin toss and didnt look back.. On 2nd Down.. Carr hits his favorite receiver A.Johnson for a 54 yd pass setting up K.Brown for the 33yd Overtime winner.. It was great game but both teams felt they needed to crank up the offense next time out.. Psycho.. (mike).. & Gl on the rest of the season

WEEK 12 JETS 21, TEXANS 17
Texans had chances to come up with the win in this one but squadered it by turnovers. Great rivalry that right now is led by Pinstripe 2-0. Great job by him and his coaching staff. Carr's 4 INTS and L. Coles 6 catches for 126 yards set the tone. Carr just couldnt find his man..

Oakland Coliseum -- Great game between These two AFC foes.. Started out like the Texans would try and run away but find out quick that they werent hitting on all cylinders. Opening Drive of the game, The Texans quickly took the lead as Carr move Houston down the field and connected with A.Johnson from 12 yards out.. Raiders opening drive was snuffed out quickly as they had to punt after 3 downs.. Texans moved the ball again except this time on a 3rd and short, Carr tossed one to J.Mathis and he dropped the wide open pass, And that's where the texans went flat. Both teams Miscued in the 2nd qtr and never could put anything together. In the 3rd, Texans D forced a fumble and got close to the Endzone but couldnt put it in.. FG 20 yds out by Brown 10-3.. ON the kickoff.. Fargas showed his speed breaking 100yds for the td to tie it all up at 10. Texans Felt they had to put something together right then and a nice pass to Mathis set up Davis from 2 yards out. Making it 17-10. ON the Next Raider Possession Porter would catch a 67 yard pass to knot the game at 17.. Raider D steps up and forces a 3 and out.. Raider QB Tuiasopo drops back and looks for Moss but its picked off By D.Robinson and he scampers 53 yards what turnout to be the game winning Touchdown.. Key Part of the game was the Bombs that Porter and Moss dropped that could have won them the game. Great game hm3 24-17

WEEK 14 TEXANS 37, TITANS 20
Houston, TX- First Game Divisional Foe This season and The Texans look to rebound from last years V.Young non-tackling debockle.. Texans set the tone early with great defense on the first two Titan Drives.. and Carr was reading the defense well when he saw blitz and hit J.Mathis for a quick pass and let Mathis's Speed do the rest for 56 yards.. K. Bulllock would break up the next drive with a sack, Texans had to settle for 3. IN the 2nd qtr. After a fumble by the Titans on a kickoff.. Dayne would score from a yard out. Titans would finally get their legs underneath them and drive the field and cap it off with a C.Brown 4 yd TD run. D.Davis on the frist play from scrimmage on the next drive would go 80 yards off the left the side. But the tians werent thrugh when Young would sustain a drive with his legs and his arm.. He hits B.Wade in the endzone 36 yards out. Texans would Get a FG before the half. Making it 27-14 at the half. 3rd Qtr. Texans would put together about 3, 3rd down conversions on a clock chewing drive capped off with a 47 yd FG with 2:08 remaingin the 3rd. Titans would get a stop on the Texans and V.Young would do some more magic hitting C.Roby 10 yds out. 2pt conv failed.. 30-20 texans.. The ONside would fail and the texans looked to ice the game with a PA strike From Carr to Johnson 41 yds out. and that would be the ball Game.. Shotta GL on the restof the season.

WEEK 15 PATRIOTS 30, TEXANS 26
Texans Came into up end the undefeated Patriots but fell just short in their quest. It took 3 and half quarters for the defense to figure out how to defend the Patriot offense and it was almost enough to get them the win. Patiots run game that averaged 220 yds was held to just 52 yds but the passing game was the thorn in the flesh. Racking 250+. Including 4 bombs that the Houston D just couldnt cover. IN the 1st qtr, New England would be stopped on 1st and 2nd but then Brady found Troy Brown wide open and set up the 9yd scoring play from Brady to Graham. D.Carr after completing a 8 yd pass found A.Johnson 65yds to tie the game up. IN the 2nd qtr, Brady would hook up with Caldwell (45yd) and Brown (62yd) for touchdowns. Texans would drive but have to kick a Field Goal making it 21-10 at the half. In 3rd qtr, Houston G.Earl would pick off a pass and run it 56 yds for the TD 21-17. But again Brady would Find Brown to setup the Dillion 1 yd score making it 28-17. IN the 4th, Texans Defense would finally shutout the Patriot Offense adding a FG to the score and Carr would make the game interesting hitting Johnson 60 yds 28-26 but Carr would be Intercepted on the 2pt conv. Houston D to the rescue.. Stopping the New England Backs and a wild pass out of bounds left 47secs on the clock.. But a great punt by the Patriots strand Houston at the 3 and then the unthinkable happen.. Wilfolk is able to find Carr and seal the victory with a safety.. Final score 30-26. Skater.. GL on the rest of the way.

WEEK 16 TEXANS 24, COLTS 7
Tough Game for the Colts who seemed to have the Cards to win, but would draw dead. Colts would put together some great passes only to have and Interception or a sack. While the Texans were just as sloppy scoring on 2 big plays by Johnson and Davis. GM..

WEEK 17 TEXANS 24, BROWNS 23
Houston, TX - Cleveland looked sharpe in the 1st half posting a quick 14 points and adding 3 late in the half.. Scoring in the 1st quarter came from B.Edwards who sliped through the defense down the seem and caught the pass for a 36 yard scoring drive. R.Droughns on 3rd down would break through the pile and gallop 68 yds to dim the Texans hope. With 2 mins remaining P.Dawson would add. making it 17-0 at the half.. At the start of the second half it looked about the same as the first when the Texans would stall out again.. But then fate came in and change the game.. ON the punt D.Norcutt would fumble the ball and Ryans would recover. With a couple plays Carr would get Davis on a flat pattern 17 yards out to make 17-7. After 4 drives combined that went 3 and out.. Cleveland would muster a 46 yd FG to make 20-7. Texans would drive down the field and score on a 5 yard pass play to Mathis from carr. making it 20-14 with 2:58 to play.. ON the next brown possession, Frye would throw a pick to ryans and ryans would get it down to the 15 yard line.. after a couple a plays on 3rd down and short.. Carr would find Davis again from 3 yds out to give the Texans their first lead. 21-20.. Browns werent giving up.. after a running play to start the drive.. Frye would find edwards to get them into FG range.. Houston would hold forcing the FG with 1:20 left to go.. Making it 23-20.. Texans start the drive and find themselves in a whole quickly.. on 3rd and long.. Carr finds Mathis just beyond the 1st Down Line to keep the drive alive.. With about 50 secs left.. Carr would throw a pass and Browns CB inteferes moving the Texans into FG positionat the 18. ON 3rd down Carr would Find cook to put them at the 3 yd line.. and after one play.. Texans Kick the FG with the clock running out making it 24-23 final.. WOW WHAT A GAME.. GREAT GAME JCON77
