Tonight marks the start of the LGRL Finals between the #1 Massive Shunts (“MAS”) and the #2 Ugly Brothers (“UGLY”). We are expecting a close series as everything between these two teams has been close. We’ll start by analyzing MAS and their roster.

    Massive Shunts (50W-22L, 100 points)

MAS is led by Scotty Stelene, the owner of the club, with support coming in the form of Hammer Old, General Manager and Torchpower, Assistant General Manager. Along with management, MAS includes a strong season 1 player in Meme God x 420, Idoit4theLolz and another strong season 1 player in Rhyan.

Hammer Old leads MAS in every statistical category including games played, goals, assists, saves and shots (33 GP, 54G, 27A, 28SVS, and 99 SHT). However, it is noted that there is strong play coming from the entire line up as five of MAS’s players are within the top 16. This includes Torchpower (31 GP, 36 G, 26 A, 9 SVS, 71 SHT), Idoit4theLolz (23 GP, 23G, 22A, 19SVS, 65 SHT), Scotty Stelene (26 GP, 19 G, 8 A, 25 SVS, 51 SHT), Meme God x 420 (30 GP, 15 G, 11 A, 21 SVS, 51 SHT) and Rhyan (12 GP, 8G, 1A, 6SVS, 17 SHT). MAS also has a strong Training Camp including players like l Trae l, JaysWayss and Why Not 2473. It is tough to find a weak spot in this lineup as every player sports a balanced stat line, even the more defensive players like Scotty Stelene, Meme God X 420 and Rhyan. With established season 1 players like Rhyan and Meme God x 420, you have to wonder how much of their stat line reflects on ability and how much of it is simply these players conceding goals to their teammates.

    Ugly Brothers (49W-23L, 98 points)

UGLY is led by active chat boxer Bane Dont Care, the owner of the club, with support coming in the form of DR0C, General Manager and Meeeeesssssiiiii, Assistant General Manager. Along with management, UGLY includes strong players including ArmoredxInMaTe, Ded279 and RammerHater. Noteworthy Training Camp players include the sleeper stud iCheap.

While it is not as clear cut as MAS, it is clear that Ded279 has the ability to put this team on his back at any given time. Ded279 (26 GP, 46 G, 15 A, 16 SVS, 93 SHT) leads UGLY in goals with 46 in 26 games, averaging 1.76 GPG. While less in total, this is beyond Hammer Old’s 1.63 GPG. After watching video on Ded279, he is a mechanically sound player with a nose for finishing the play. You see that translated into a substantial increase in assists from teammates DR0C (23 A), Rammer Hater (21 A) and Armoredx InMate (20 A). For every #1, you have a wing man, and DR0C is the General Manager and wing man to Ded279. DR0C appears to do it all for his team as he ranks #2 in goals, #1 in assists, #1 in saves and #2 in shots among his teammates. While Ded279 appears to be the finisher, DR0C is the glue that keeps his team moving in the right direction.

    Club vs. Club History

MAS and UGLY battled 11 times during the regular season and the season stat line could not be closer. MAS won the season series 6 to 5 scoring 24 goals to UGLY’s 23 goals. Out of 11 games, 6 games were decided by 1 goal or less and both shutouts are in favor of UGLY. MAS won the first 4 of 6 games but UGLY fought back, winning the last 4 of 6 games. In addition, Both MAS and UGLY are undefeated in the playoffs with MAS going 8-0, including 4 forfeit wins against Sharkbait, and UGLY going 8-0 with wins against One Hit Wonders and Why You Gotta Botch It. Both teams are undefeated but someone has to lose tonight!

    Series Forecast:

As close as it is, the series is completely up in the air for either team to grab. Line matchups could play a role but both teams are deep enough to where it may just turn into which team brings it to any particular game. However, I think it is safe to say neither team will sweep the other nor will this series be decided in less than 6 games. I do believe we will crown our Season 2 LGRL Champs on Wednesday night. Who do you think will win? Answer in the poll on this thread!

HUGE thanks to @Hammer Old and @DR0C for making the write up this week as I have been trying to work on getting people to stream the finals this week, more will be posted about that later.
