LGRL PSN Commish and Rule Makers, I have worked with our xbox league in creating formats that are both competitive, simple and fair. Given the turnout of Season 1, below is a proposed format that would maximize participation from the user base and make teams manageable and fun for owners. I have ran 2 teams so I speak from both player and owner POV. Roster Size: 9 We have 128 signups as of today. As of the week before bidding for S1, we had ~100 signups. Under our current format, 10 teams will only allow 60 people to possess full time roster position. The roster size should be increased to 9 next season to increase participation without creating unfair burden on management, add strategic importance to line matching, make drafting meaningful, and fix the playoff game requirement issue (See Below) . I was disappointed this was not changed before draft and hope this will be strongly considered for season 2. Games: 2 Series per day, 3 games per series With the increase of rostered players, the games played will need to be increased as well to maintain sufficient playing time for all involved. Current Format: 3 Players Per Game x 4 Games Per Day = 12 Man Games Per Day 12 Man Games Per Day x 4 Days Played = 48 Man Games Per Week 48 Man Games Per Week / 6 Rostered Players = 8 Games Per Week Average Min: 6 Max: 8 New Format: 3 Players Per Game x 6 Games Per Day = 18 Man Games Per Day 18 Man Games Per Day x 4 Days Played = 72 Man Games Per Week 72 Man Games Per Week / 9 Rostered Players = 8 Games Per Week Average Min: 4 Max: 10 Maintains average number of games for greater number of people. Since additional people are on the team, Max is 10 to keep 80% of man games within rostered players. This gives some leeway to help with scheduling but not enough to where a team can ride the same 3 people every game. Series Limitation: Players are only allowed to play a max of 2 of the 3 games within a single series. This prevents a single team from running the same line within a series for convenience. Significant complaints were received from S1 from people playing the same team and line over and over. It add variety to the games and keep everyone, competitive and casual, interested in their scheduled games. Management: Owner, GM, AGM To deal with 9 rostered players, teams should be allowed an GM, free of cost, and a AGM at a salary cap hit. Also, both should be assignable to teams before bidding. How can you guarantee that you will get help if you cant guarantee that your "help" will even be on your team. This creates additional burdens on owners and a league can not run without owners and can not grow without returning owners in addition to new owners. For reference, the Xbox league mandates that a AGM will incur a 2M out of 9M cap hit to more greatly balance bidding should a team choose to utilize a AGM. The main argument for this is to properly balance teams that bring an AGM for the sole purpose of locking down a top quality player. TC: Training Camp players should be restricted by the same Min / Max rules as rostered players in both regular season and post season. This restricts the ability of a team to keep a ringer in TC and play an unrestricted amount of games for better seeding or playoffs. Playoffs Game Restriction: The current playoff requirements are to play 1 in the first 4, 2 in the first 6. With a 6 man roster, this allows a team to run their best 3 players for 5 of 7 games in a series. This discourages team participation and allows a team to potentially win the league with 3 players. In doing so, it also reduces the impact of drafting a good team with depth. Drafting and team development should be rewarded. However, switching to a 9 man roster will fix this issue and all of the problems listed above. I am happy to assist further in vetting ideas and finding loopholes to new rules, if requested.
