-"What other people think of you is none of your business so stop worrying about it"

That perfectly supports why this thread has well over 200 comments and we're still arguing.

When someone says anything about you through a public forum that absolutely becomes your business whether it be tasteful or not. And when there is no stop to it- to even suggest that ppl shouldn't be upset with harassment is so wrong.

I will explain why we are still having this discussion tho.

2 days ago someone tells me @Gary Garoo is talking shit about me in the CB. So I go in and defend myself. Why- bc I don't back down from assholes like that.

It goes back and forth. Of course he is of the belief that their is no problem with behaviour of ppl here.

So I tell him with an attitude like his- I hope his children have it very easy growing up.

He says that he will do everything he can to help them battle through adversity etc etc.

So here is how Gary garoo battles through his own adversity.

I invite him to a private conversation so we can talk it out and say what we want to eachother 1 on 1.

Here is the adversity. I pulled him from the comfort of bashing me with the audience and support of his friends and he can't muster one word to me alone.

Not until after he invites his backup,

    Screenshot_20170223-184942.png

And have them flip my world upside down calling my mother names, attack my spelling, blah blah blah..

After all of that he final builds up the courage and over comes the incredible adversity and calls me.. wait for it... "a puss puss"

Gary Garoo you really stung me bud.

So why does this behaviour exist. Why do so many people agree with me..

    Here's why:

    20170224_092558.png

Because a bully can do no wrong. Because using @Brisan66 's logic, the internet must not be for me. I'm very sorry for invading this safe place lmao.

For further support of that. 20170224_095449.png

So timbo, according to LG you are kind of right. Who cares what ppl say about you- I guess it's none of your business

bc their behaviours are your fault.

Tris if losing your respect to light a fire for the right reasons like standing up against bullying- than so be it.

I actually backed up myself by explaining what happened. So you attacking me for no reason to impress your friends is laughable.

By this page going what? 5 more pages since I tagged all the staff in it really shows they don't give a shit what goes on in the league.

    @LG McDonald @Tiddus @Winston Payne @kpy86

Get this shit taken down. It's out of hand and a fucking embarrassment to the league. Either do something about the "tough guy bullies" or turn your cheek and walk away. These threads are all over and the LGHL forums and chatbox are getting flooded with arguments and bashing. It needs to be stopped.

I'll take some time to address this and review what @Hopestrom has posted since he has been extremely selective on what he wants to share and address.

The original topic was brought to our attention after 212 posted his retirement whereby some members of the community took it upon themselves to berate his efforts and his post. I've gone on record before during videos and such agreeing that the toxic side of this site and forums can be a bit much at times and changes does need to occur to make this a better experience for all. But there is only so much site admin and league staff can do and there is only so much filtering that NEEDS to occur before we suck the life out of the forums and league.

There is a big difference between cyber bullying and going after a member of our community for their sexual orientation, family life, religion etc and having a heated debate whereby two parties don't agree with one another. There is a HUGE difference in my opinion and from my experience here on LG.

Over the course of 21 seasons of being involved in running internet hockey leagues I've seen my fair share of events and issues. I've had PMs from members of our community whom suffer from depression and need help, I've seen the PMs from one another whereby people are upset with comments made on the forums. I've address cyber bullying cases as they are presented whereby members of the community have gone out of their way to harass a member of LG through several forms of social media and our site. I've also seen the other side of the coin where people engage in a debate, it becomes an argument then when sticks and stones are tossed the original conflict starter comes running to staff with their hands in the air crying wolf.

As stated, these cases aren't black and white and cut and dry. Every issue has two and somethings three sides whereby at times I am not lucky enough to even get the entire story to piece together what actually occurred.

I see these issues through a few different lens. First off I live a very fortunate life where I have a great job, and own my own house etc. LG is just a hobby I enjoy to pass my free time and has become something so great and big that I feel the need to continue to make this better. From that perspective, nothing negative said to me on the internet truly matters. If people want to post pictures of me on our Twitter feed(like they have) trying to take shots at my personal life, so be it. There has yet to been a day where anything said or done to me on here has affected my real life in a negative way at all. That being said, being in the fire service my job has its ups and downs. The ups being 98% of the time. It is nice to jump on here and do something to pass my time when that 2% kicks in and work wasn't a great day. I think that is a normal, health reaction to dealing with stress and bad issues. I have enough confidence in myself and what I've accomplished that sticks and stones truly apply to how I feel. I treat everyone with respect when at times when respect isn't mutual and I try to take the higher road and avoid the ever so comment "internet" mentality of personal chirps when things don't go my way.

From a different perspective, or looking at our site through a different lens, we do have people whom frequent our website whom suffer from depression. The Bell Let's Talk movement, has tried to shine light on the fact that depression, PTSD etc is an illness. Whether or not you want to believe that is an issue or not, its a reality of the world we live in now. I've had discussions with members on LG who wanted to kill themselves. Guys whom have stepped away from this to see professional help. I'm not contributing our site and experience to thoughts of suicide and stuff but we all need to be aware that people on this site have hard lives. Some people have experience some bad stuff and dealing with issues and stress way different. Like I said above I don't see unhealthy issues with people using our site and League as a way to handle stress in a positive manner. Some of the best professional advice people get when facing adversity is try and become active in something you enjoy doing to help rebuild some positive thoughts. What needs to always be considered is that you don't always know who is on the other side of the screen, who is going to read your words. Your tone, your comments(joking or not) can be enough one day to push people to limits you and I may never understand. I think in the heart of hearts, everyone on LG is a good person with good intentions. The last thing I think anyone wants is for us to push say something, "trolling" and push another person to their limit.

The message I truly want to pass on is what works for me may not work for you. And what works for you probably doesn't work for me. Each of us come from different walks of life whereby we have no idea what cross someone maybe carrying today, or tomorrow. I come from the school of thought that respect is earned, and you should always treat people the way you wish to be treated.

I think the example Hopes posted above is great thing to address. His original post has gained some attention, some good and some bad. Which in my eyes is what should have been expected. Nothing says we all have to agree and get along. Some people don't agree with his original post, which is fine in my eyes. Then later on @Gary Garoo and @Hopestrom get into a debate in the chatbox about these same issues. The decision to take the debate or argument to a private message was made by Hope, which lead to it becoming a huge group PM, where as you can see others disagreed with Hope. Do I believe it was smart to allow a disagreement to get to this level? Not at all. Do I believe gary handled this correctly by adding his buddies to bash on Hope? Of course not. Do I feel this is a case of cyber bullying? No I truly don't. This is a prime example of how our ignore feature could have been best utilized to avoid a conflict. I think both sides said things they shouldn't have, and both sides should have avoided this entire situation.

Tris has built protection into LG in many ways. Everyone use has the ability to leave a PM they are added to. Everyone has the ability to ignore users so you never have to see anything they post in the chat or forums. I've addressed countless complaints and have issued serious punishment for serious offences. I just site ban a PSN CHL Owner for comments in his group me team chat. Posting disgusting pictures, porn etc in a LG sanctioned team chat with minors... That guy will likely never be welcome back. Like I said, we have done our part to help you, help yourself. I don't believe in chasing conflict or saying things out of anger. I think everyone hear needs to take more accountability for their own actions, respect that we all come from different walks of life, and try and contribute to fun and positive vibes. Not everyone is going to like you, or agree with 100% of what you say. That is life... But if we all take more responsibility for handling ourselves in the best way we possibility can, things will get better here. And to be honest, things have been getting better.

In closing, if anyone on LG is suffering from depression, is being cyber bullied, or anything like that and needs someone to listen, my door is always open. One of my only regrets here on LG is that one our Owner's whom took his own life would have reached out before it got so bad. Each day that I get to continue to help us move forward is awesome and every time someone who has an issues comes to be for advice gives me more reason to continue doing what I do here. Any serious issues Tris and I will address. If you have any concerns, or questions or anything let me know!

I think we have beat this horse long enough and its time for us to agree to disagree and try and move forward as a community.

    Thanks
    -Brodie
