Mid-Season Write Up Eastern North

Eastern North:

I'm not going to take nearly as much time with this division as it played out almost completely as everyone expected this season. More write ups coming soon.

Division Overview- This division has played out almost exactly to expectations. Binghamton is sitting in first place by just one point and could easily be lower in standings as they have had 9 OT games. If they want to remain at the top they're going to need to start winning games decisively and not by 1 goal. Belleville comes in at number 2 after making some questionable trades but they boast the best goal differential in the Eastern Conference, which to me is a sign of them continuing on a positive trend. Both the devils and the senators made some solid moves to bolster their rosters so far. Belleville managed to bring in veteran @Dangles4days and @I_Scotch_I while Binghamton managed to shed their huge contracts of stavio and mclean in favor of draft picks and cap relief. The difference maker for who takes this division could come down to OT games or who makes a better deal at the deadline. The drop off after these two teams is significant. Toronto and Rochester barely sit above .500 and the rest of the division has a losing record. Laval is right where I ranked them as CHL superstar @nolesfan12 has been unable to produce at the ahl level. Its almost embarrassing having an equal amount of PIMS as he does assists this season. As far as Utica is concerned I want to quote my initial prediction. "If you want to see a dumpster fire take a look at this roster."

6. Lavel Rockets
7. Utica Comets

Actual Mid-Season:

STANDINGS:

1. Binghamton Devils -62 points
2. Belleville Senators -61 points
3. Toronto Marlies -50 points
4. Rochester Americans -49 points
5. Syracuse Crunch -46 points
6. Lavel Rockets -36 points
7. Utica Comets -19 points

Post Season Outlook: I am predicting that Belleville takes this division as long as they stay the course and don't make any crazy deadline deals.... I'm looking at you @ItsGally. Binghamton will take a playoff spot as well with the last being a toss up. At this point I think its only a matter of time till Toronto gets a wider gap on the rest of the division and the Americans fall down the standings.

Judging an individual defender based off their W/L record in a team sport? I couldn't think of any possible way to come up with a better way to determine someone's worth man. Just killing it. +/- is another very good one. Maybe your next article can be about how Crosby is awful at hockey as well? -12 and getting paid a lot of money. That would qualify him as bad right? I'm not relevant or good enough in the NHL. Plus Tsibs helped me get a copy of NHL18 so I'm trying to give back to the community. I don't have time for both that's for sure.

A good player is supposed to be stealing some games honestly. While youre right on the fact that w/l can be irrelevant, its still a good thing to talk about because theyre paying 6.5 for one player so they end up short on cap to surround him well. Which is the reason why its relevant to show these stats for this case.

 

You're right about the Devils and overtime. We've had waaaaaaaaaaay too many games go into OT that had no business going there(games we should've won). It can end up biting us in the ass. We're leaving points on the table.

 

Utica is a dumpster fire one I'm not play in for anymore hoping to be put on waivers cause yeah being a G on that team is suicide
