The MGMT had a vote on if AGM should or should not return. The votes were

    24 - YES
    13 - NO

However, the consensus seemed to be most people didnt really care either way. Here is the discussion we had as well as the PROs/CONs and results from this season.

1.) A team may take on a contracted AGM before bidding for 5M or trade for a contracted player and make him 5M (even if his contract is more)

2.) A team may choose not to take a 5M contracted AGM player and win a player in bidding or trade for a player under contract and give him AGM status

    Pros:
    - 3rd Player who you know and trust
    - Helps eliminate some of the cancer from bidding
    - Possibly attracts higher end management?

    Cons:
    - Bidding, leaves it completely watered down
    - Greater disparity from Top teams to the bottom feeders
    - Newer management may struggle to obtain upper echelon AGM

    FWDS
    Brad - 10M7-9M

    Money - 2.75M1-2M
    Bakes - 2.75M1.5-2.5M (as a backup G 500K-750K)

    CONTRACTS BY TEAM
ANA - Hellcat - 8.5M pretty high, however he was the best FWD left which always seems to happen and he actually has been with them all season and had a decent season (however, contract was prob too high for anyone to trade for him) ANA did this with Jewbakak and Williams last season. Jmoney 2.75M - highest paid G in bidding after NSHs guys, good G, too much on a G though needed to use the cap elsewhere, made it hard to move him and get good value back with that contract for a G

ARZ - TLogan - hadn't played NHL since 15, they overpaid pretty bad based on him never playing NextGen and still being in college on college internet and not living for it anymore

    BOS - N/A

BUF - Brad - TOR and BUF both bidding on him, both very good teams with experienced mangers, knew the risk of brad and his past history of him quitting and no showing all the time, however when he shows, one of the better players and probably the best player in bidding, still 10M was a big risk

CGY - Goblin - 7.75M at FWD not a D, hes a good FWD and a nice guy, spent a little too much on him though

CAR - HandzAGod - 6.25M sort of a known problem player when on teams he doesnt like or know people. Solid Dman but usually only good and doesnt cause trouble when on his boy A1Freaks team, overpaid as well

    CHI - N/A

COL - LAKE 8M - guy hasnt been good in a long time and even back then he was just ok. Wasnt very good last season he played for BOS either, hasnt played much on Newton, doesnt club a lot

CBJ - Naslund - 6.25M for a guy who's played 3rd line or been a complementary fill in guy on lines was terrible. MIAH aka Obnoxious - guy quits literally all the time, spent a shit ton on him another fail

    DAL - N/A

    DET - N/A

    EDM - N/A

FLA - Geno - 4.5M for a Man playing FWD, hes solid, overpaid though and quit when traded to a bad team

LA - JayChin - 4.25M another guy who quits a lot, traded him with no comp, he quit

    MIN - N/A

    MON - N/A

NSH - both Goalies but they had the cap and it was one of the only positions they needed in bidding the team has been near the top all season, Bold strategy, seemed to pay off

    NJD - N/A

NYI - Raynor 7.75M - Great player, known to no show, hard to get in contact with, new owner = bad recipe. DannyRetartabul - 5M about 2M overpaid, good player good guy with new owner, not bad. Ezreal - 5.75M overpaid again, solid player, known to bitch in the CB doesnt always help try to make his teams he goes to better

NYR - Spent too much money on D and not FWDs, hurt them, luckily made good trades

    OTT - N/A

PHI - Mfrich 5.5M not that good anymore, doesnt seem to care about the game, StamToast 4.75M Goalie playing FWD, has never had a good season at FWD, overpaid him

SJS - Mole 7.75M overpaid and quit/ NukeBomb 8M usually a good guy GM for CBJ last season, always a solid player, quit Jones 2M 1st round G drafted, very good player - Quit

STL -EliteHydroPonix - 6M FWD and Dman always been a solid player never really a 1st liner, he is overpaid, Duky - 5.75M Good player, never really more than a 3rd or 2nd on LG, good in other leagues but unreliable, doesnt sign up for games, gets into it with teammates, they are successful and his line and team as done well

    TBL - N/A

TOR - FROBE 4M - use to be a very good FWD playing D, slightly overpaid, not having a good season, plays on both consoles, doesnt club much, mainly an NBA guy know

VAN - Fox 9.25M - very overpaid, good dude, not nearly as good as he was on OldGen Stew 7.75M overpaid, good guy doesnt seem to enjoy the game much

WSH - Trevalynn - 7M overpaid very good 2nd liner who fills in well on 1st lines, salary was inflated

    WPG - N/A

** The MGMT forums on xbox are currently having a discussion on if we should use it again next season. The vast majority seems to not care either way, it was cool to have but not really too big of a deal.

Wouldn't overpaid imply that elite and duky weren't worth their contracts?

I'd say both were well worth that amount and if they went for what you think is appropriate then they would have been steals instead...

No overpaid as in their past history, record, lines they've played on 1st 2nd 3rd, teams they've been on + production this season. This was pretty much their 1st good season, i know theyre both solid players, but they were being paid 1st line money and the highest salaries on your team and in that sense, they are overpaid

Paid AGM is perfect for the current situation of the league.

If you get rid of the paid AGM, you do not add to the bidding pool or make it better. The guys who take the paid AGM are guys who will not risk being in bidding.

Those guys listed on bad contracts in bidding would have gone that high with or without the paid AGM. 7-10 million isn't even that high compared to salaries we have had in the past.

All I'm trying to argue is paid AGM is not the reason these bidding prices are high. Since the roster reset, those bidding prices are very average.

Its all about who you didnt spend money to get. Also although people think goalies are overpriced. Having a cheaper goalie can result in games they themselves lose. An example of a goalie who is worth the money is connor who wins games by not giving up 7 goals in a game 7. And in normal games doesnt let many goals in.

Theres about 4 Gs in the league who can separate themselves. Goalies in this game and last year are as good as their defense. Also the goalie skill gap has diminished in a huge way over the years. There are a number of good goalies for much cheaper, which allows you to spend money on FWDs or D (if you need it), which are more important. NSH had their whole team basically set and a ton of cap left over, so they decided, lets grab the 2 best Gs available, we have the cap, so we will use it and they did.

Just look at the top Gs in the league this season, it pretty much explains everything and its been that way for quite some time, you do not need to spend big money on Gs. It is no longer a very tough position, almost all goalies are at least good and there are a number who are very good.

I'm kinda indifferent on this. On one hand I completely understand why a team would want to have a agm set in stone pre bidding. On the other hand there is a massive difference between some teams management groups to others. Just a idea and you guys can shoot it down if you want. Why not allow teams the 5 mil agm pre bidding selection however those teams that choose to take on a 5 mil agm lose their 1st round draft pick for that season. Again people. Just a idea.

    5M AGM STATS
    23 TEAMS AGM
    2 AGMs quit/banned
    7 playoff teams

5 AGMs - real contract value
5 Overpaid AGMs (0 made playoffs)
9 Accurately Priced AGMs (7 made playoffs)
9 Bargain AGMs (8 made playoffs)

3 teams below 50 points (1 no AGM)

This is what matters, especially the "accurate/bargain" values. If you were to tell a new owner "Hey, not only will your potential pool of GMs be less but whomever you pick now will be a likely detriment to your playoff chances. And if you don't pick one you're just as likely to miss out by the numbers.

Severeal of those AGMs would take GM roles with other friends but instead "stack up" a team to benefit themselves. And with many veteran owners taking a break you are going to entice potential new owners of any merit with this? Being at an even greater disadvantage from the get go?

I'm still on the fence and will reevaluate once the 30 owners are selected for S26.

Five million was too cheap in s25 but it was done with the hopes to retain and bring in more talent which we probably accomplished.

Six million in the NHL and 4.25 in the AHL represents 17% of the salary cap. Six million and 4.25 represent a higher salary cap hit which a top end player would draw in those two leagues making the AGM role more balanced as long as we retain the idea that you don't have to take a free agent at those price points you can take a player from bidding or off a resign at a lower price.

Many of the legaue has expressed their intentions not to play next season and some hold onto the hope that retaining a salaried AGM will help retain half those players since they want nothing to do with bidding.

Lots to think about here in regards to what do we want for the league right now and the future moving forward.

I'll continue to hear the ideas and once the owners are finalized I'll get a better free from what that core of guys thing is best

And this is why I voted yes even though the idea is bad for new owners. If it keeps the player base up for a below average game then that's more important. I don't envy your position at all Brodie.

That's the compromise I am looking at right now. High end salary for a high end players/ability to retain the talent even though people hate the game

Is it worth it? Do guys like SJU who have dedicated ten seasons to ownership and want to play but not go into bidding or be owner deserve this as an option? It's all valid arguements.

Even comparing the NHL to the AHL is different. The ahl could do away with a preset AGM and go back to having an extra AGM after bidding and be fine. The only real balance for the ahl will be to main that that one good NHL player per management team rule.

Lots to consider for sure coming into S26

We try so hard to maintain a competitive experience it that experience hinges off the servers and the ability to matchmake effectively to create that experience. Having issues with both those things does make this a bit difficult at times.

Sometimes when the game acts that way the league needs to adapt and be less strict to promote growth and continue to do what do here even if the hand we've been dealt isn't ideal

    Its pretty simple:

The AGM I feel is great, but the reason why its such a gray area is because owners either feel they dont need to utilize it, or dont use it for its true purpose. It really depends on the owner and their current roster situation.

Since we know hes a man and a half, SJU for instance probably doesnt need an AGM because he has such good connections league round that he rather keep the 5mil and use it in bidding for better values on the dollar, compared to someone who has started from the bottom and now hes here as a new owner and needs to use that 5mil to bring in some talent to help with building their overall roster.

Personally, I say use AGM until the game becomes good again (if ever,) and everyone wants to be more involved like the old days. Once the interest league wise gets back to its full potential, pool is deeper, etc. then I feel the good owners (no disrespect the ones who havent been so great,) will come back out and even the field.

But, if AGM does go away, then so be it.

But it is used in the exact opposite of that manner... Let us take a look at the managers who had "accurate/bargain" AGMs, meaning they brought in talent:

Buffalo, Chicago, Dallas, Edmonton, LA, Montreal, New Jersey, NYR, Ottawa, Pittsburgh, San Jose, Tampa, Toronto, Winnipeg.

The only Owner in that entire bunch who doesn't have at least 2 seasons under their belt is St. Louis. Many are VERY experienced owners. The reason why they use it is because they can get a steal at 5M for top league players. The new owners have zero leverage when it comes to getting top players as their AGMs when battling proven and veteran owners for those players.

Your opinion is the exact inverse of what actually occurs. New owners often WONT take an AGM because the players available for the 5m contract aren't worth it and they would rather take that cap to bidding while veteran owners bring in top talent at great contracts.
