Trace Route = Input delay

Yeah you can see your packet loss on your xbox connection settings and most people I've talked to don't have any when they run the test, i don't but I've had the button lag when captain and only when captain not any other time, so its in the coding from what I've been told. If it were packet loss why would people have it in this game, but not any other games and only when they're captain on the home team?

*I am just talking from what I've read and been told by EA Xbox and ISP, i know you know way more about this then i do i always see you talking about it. Im not trying to say you're wrong, I'm just questioning why and relaying what I've read and been told

I'm pretty sure this right here is what the guy on the phone was attempting to explain to me. As the ping time increases, you will notice more and more button lag/heaviness/delay, or however you want to classify it. I know Nuge said it's server based, but there has to be some relation to how the game receives your connection in order to make you the designated "room leader" (whether or not this is in club or lobbies).

Point and case, the guy who has a 3 mb/s internet almost NEVER receives the host of an online game. It doesn't matter if you have server based, or peer to peer, hosting for the game. I also find it pretty interesting as I've done more and more research that the people have the worst input lag often have the highest internet speeds (again just from what I've seen).

I would like to know if you haven't received the button input delay, how often are you the host of your lobby/EASHL game? I think there are more people who haven't experienced the delay that play without the best connection in the group of people they play with.

Really good point., never thought of this.

 

I haven't gotten the button lag in any game ever. I experience some typical "this connection isn't good" but never anything too devastating. I've hosted a few times early on in release and in beta where I had the C.
Now more recently, I try and search and when we connect it passes host every time for the past two weeks. I have decent internet.

 

Did EA get rid of the eat coast server? I know it was located somewhere in the carolinas last gen, seems crazy we're being routed thru europe now and all the way back to california... but then again it is ea. Still maybe someone can connect to a club game and use something like wallwatcher to sniff the ip of the server to confirm. I'd volunteer but I lack the patience.

 

EA servers be like "If I'm not back in 5 minutes....just wait longer"

I seriously find it funny how hard you guys are trying to fix this as if somehow its possible to fix EA s problems. Just complain to them about how shot the connection is and hope they fix it...

I've been playing a few games on PS4 this week, I don't recall anyone mentioning Captain Lag or complaining of lag. I'll continue to pay attention, and let you know if I hear anything.

 

Captain lag still occurs on PS4. It occurs once every 5 games if one of my buddies host, and it occurs every game if I am captain.

Oddly enough I don't get captain lag on xb1, only on ps4. So whatever it is, it is a lot deeper then just console specific.

 

Honestly won't be surprised. Unless lag happens in HUT, I highly doubt this gets addressed in any escalated capacity.

I'll still pay attention to lag on PS4, but thus far I don't recall any. But thanks for the info, Sloshy.

 

So if it's just normal lag then someone explain why my faceoffs feel perfect and my guy acts like fucking Thor when throwing them back. Yet my body has 2-3 seconds delay when I experience the issue.

 

I know they've modified the timing on the faceoffs from what they used to be. I have to jump the draw by 1 mississippi each time to have a chance at my guy performing the animation. For whatever reason, your delay is causing the timing to fall in line perfectly with the animation used to win the faceoff. You wouldn't notice the impact of button lag at that point on your faceoffs, as the timing plus the delay would result in a "Thor" faceoff win.

I ran multiple tests last night on my connection to the servers (all proposed ea server addresses) multiple times last night. I experienced about a 1-2 second delay on the home team for the LG game at 10 est, and had input lag comparable to jackDOOP in club. From 8 pm est to 11 pm est, my ping increased from the low 120's posted in the initial post to 280+ (played every game as home team last night). Game wasn't playable with the button lag until 11:30 est when it dropped back down to the 160's. The principle of what the tech said matched 1000% to my in game experience. @Tris10

 

Frost - Just one last test.. Have you tried opening all ports through your router?

I really don't know, I've tried a few things and nothing has worked. I haven't gone through and in forwarded each individual port, but I do have my XB1 set as my DMZ. You seem to be doing the most in depth testing, and just wondering if any of that from EA would help.

 

Port forwarding and dmz won't work together you have to choose one or the other dmz also makes your connection vulnerable to attacks on personal info
