If you have a Sagemcom, you need to get it into 'bridge mode'. This can be tough, but there are guides like this https://help.teksavvy.com/hc/en-us/articles/203150940-Sagemcom-2864-Modem-Setup-Bridged-

Next you'll need to setup your 2nd router to handle the DHCP and DNS instead. You can set the dns to googles 8.8.8.8, and make sure DHCP is turned on and that it is issuing IP's even for devices connected to the first router.

What step am I missing in my fix?

 

I might be able to help anyone in the Ontario/Quebec region that have bell modems or bell Internet via 3rd parties (tek savvy, Cik, smart rg) and WHO ALSO DONT USE FIBE TV to fix delays.

Yo Frost the fix worked for about a week. I had no lag while being captain of the home team. Last night it was back with a vengeance. Horrible captain lag.Unplayable to the point i had to quit out of 2 games because i literally was 3-4 seconds behind.I changed nothing with the router.No clue why this happened.All of us appreciate the help but bottom line is EA needs to wake the fuck up and find a fix for this shit themselves. This shit ruins the game.

My answer would depend on knowing your configuration, but the answer will always be it won't work unless the router Bell gave you is put into bridge mode to allow another router to handle your network. This is needed because your other routers blocking features do nothing if it doesn't have control over the DNS or the outgoing WAN connection.

Assuming you have an Ethernet running from your Bell router into your new routers blue Ethernet ports and not the yellow WAN, then your new router is only acting as a switch/passthrough and not a router, meaning most of those features you see in it's control panel wont work. You can test this, by trying to block a website and try opening it in IE explorer in Xbox to see if it worked.

The other thing Frost hasn't mentioned, is routers vary WILDLY in how they "block". Some will only block port 80 for example (usually the ones who only allow url blocking) which this fix wont help at all. Others that allow only IP, might use a weird method to block (no ip tables) and won't catch the host name, which also won't work for this fix. TBH I truly feel ya'll in for a world of headaches.

My brother is always the captain on our league team and would experience the input lag almost every game. We've so far tested 15 games and the only game that he got the input lag was when he didn't have the fix properly configured on his router. This fix absolutely works and my league team can't thank Frost enough. Good job man.

 

Id fucking love to play an LG game without lag.

 

anyone have their info pertaining to the lag for an Apple Router? Curious to see if this works after experiencing the lag last night for about 3 hours on and off. I traced my IP to EA Ireland so this still has to be the reason why. Im curious to know if anyone has done this yet w an apple router and what were the steps...Thanks SOX

 

The Apple Time Capsule's do not have the functionality to block IP's underneath the current firmware. You would need to download a mod file that could block the IP, or establish your own DNS server (I have both mod files and DNS server established... I use a 3TB Time Capsule). I have a mod program running on mine, and would not recommend this option for you under any circumstance as you can severely compromise your network/TC if not done properly. Best option is to use a different router to solve your issues.

 

Thanks for the input. I haven't had a problem in the past, maybe it was just a one time thing, but basically what you are saying is I am SOL if I don't change my apple router? What I don't like about changing routers is that in the 4 years I have had this router, it has been perfect. I am hoping EA fixes the issue. Thanks for the input and your time on this. SOX

frost, got input delay for the first time since you posted this fix yesterday. Any idea if EA are messing around with servers? New IP, whatever?

 

Seems to have gotten better after i made my xbox my home xbox.
