Round one had some obvious results as well as a couple stunning ones! Here is a recap of all the round one matchups and predictions for round two! Eastern Conference: Pittsburgh Penguins def. Toronto Maple Stifs in 4 games, G1 (PIT 8-2) G2 (PIT 3-1) G3 (PIT 3-2) G4 (PIT 6-1) @XxTerryTORxX was rewarded another sweep at the hands of the Penguins after his late complaint filing last week. Does anyone really feel bad for them at all? Toronto couldn't keep the puck out of the net even with the help of Stifmeister. Better luck next season. Series MVP: @D4N USA 3-0 (2G, 6A, +8, 0:00 PIMS) Philadelphia Flyers def. New Jersey Devils in 7 games, G1 (NJ 1-0) G2 (PHI 3-2) G3 (NJ 8-2) G4 (PHI 3-1) G5 (NJ 4-3) G6 (PHI 2-0) G7 (PHI 6-2) This was the best series of the round bar none. Blows were traded back and forth with neither team getting back to back wins until the last two games. Controversy came about coming up to the game 7 in regards to lineups as @Hopkins 28 had been shaky throughout the prior games but @Draisaitl 29 stuck with the regular season starter (which isn't a wrong decision IMO). Although it backfired tremendously, a lot more of the blame should be placed on @Yung Gren, who was invisible on defense. By the time they got sorted out in the 3rd period the score was too high to overcome. Series MVP: @Odieeeeee 3-0 (5 PTS, +8, 2:00 PIMS, 12 TAs) New York Rangers def. Florida Panthers in 7 games, G1 (FLA 3-2) G2 (NYR 6-5) G3 (FLA 3-1) G4 (NYR 5-1) G5 (NYR 6-0) G6 (FLA 3-2) G7 (NYR 2-1) Another series that went to seven saw the wild card out of the stacked Metropolitan division take on the top seed out of the Atlantic. A series that saw almost every line on both teams acquire a win, there were no guarantees on any given night. The self proclaimed "Shitters" line, the first line on NYR, of @PaulyChunks @Soapy412 @Meestah Don @daveydonuts522 @PitcheRxSwaGx and @SeaBass I99I beat the FLA 2nd line and taking a Pro Series forward line to the last 10 seconds in game 6. A series that was predicted to be close finished close, with a 1 goal difference in Game 7. Series MVP: @APsychicTaco 3-1 (91.7 SV%, 1.04 GAA, 1 SO) Montreal Canadiens def. Ottawa Senators in 6 games, G1 (MTL 5-4) G2 (OTT 3-1) G3 (OTT 3-2) G4 (MTL 4-3) G5 (MTL 10-1) G6 (MTL 2-1) Although Montreal came into this series as the lower seed most of the community said Montreal were the favorites to win. With the pressure on, down 2-1 in the series and facing a solid Ottawa line, Montreal pulled out a 4-3 win to bring it even. Following that up with a 10-1 really put the worry to rest. @Pattelite don't start to chirp until the series is over. I think @Serpe x 13 learned that lesson as well. Hope to see @l Bossy l x 22 back next season to make another playoff push. Series MVP: @RoWsKi 1-1 (5G, 5A, +8, 14 Hits) Western Conference: Winnipeg Jets def. Arizona Coyotes in 4 games, G1 (WPG 4-1) G2 (WPG 4-3) G3 (4-3) G4 (7-1) The first game was a must-win for Arizona with the use of all of their first liners against WPG's third line. To come out of that with a 4-1 loss in dominating fashion really put the series to rest right there. Although Arizona came close several times after. they couldn't hold the Winnipeg forwards to under 4 goals. Series MVP: @GB521 2-0 (4G, 6A, +6) Nashville Predators def. Minnesota Wild in 6 games, G1 (NSH 6-5) G2 (MIN 4-2) G3 (NSH 3-0) G4 (MIN 3-1) G5 (NSH 4-3) G6 (NSH 4-3) Nashville was given quite the test for their first round. Minnesota came out guns blazing in game one with an ECU army that managed to put up 5 goals against @F R i K S x 9 9, but sadly fell short on defense with 6 goals against. This shootout continued throughout the series with only one game below 4 goals total and three with 7 or more. Nashville may have powered through that series, but getting into a shootout with Winnipeg would be a very dangerous idea. The stage has been set. Series MVP: @Ya Boy Yahtzee 2-0 (2G, 4A, +2, 11 TAs) San Jose Sharks def. Chicago Blackhawks in 5 games, G1 (CHI 3-1) G2 (SJ 2-1) G3 (SJ 4-3) G4 (SJ 2-1) G5 (SJ 2-0) Chicago started off on the right foot, winning the game 1 matchup between the 3rd lines. But when Monday rolled around and San Jose brought out the big guns Chicago had to go for 2-0. In a nailbiter that went into double overtime San Jose came out on top. Game 3 was another overtime winner for San Jose, followed by a last second goal in game 4 to take a 3-1 lead in the series. Chicago put up one hell of a fight, but it just wasn't to be. San Jose is still struggling to score over 3 in regulation, not doing so in any of the 5 games. How far can their defense and goaltending carry them? Series MVP: @CjC Cobras 2-0 (96.9 SV%, 0.38 GAA, 1 SO) Calgary Flames def. Edmonton Oilers in 6 games, G1 (EDM 5-2) G2 (CGY 4-2) G3 (3-1) G4 (CGY 4-3) G5 (EDM 3-2) G6 (CGY 5-3) The Flames came in hot into the first round and have far surpassed expectations by defeating a decent Edmonton squad. Taking three straight games with each of their three lines really put the stamp on the series. An all around team effort is what they are going to need if they have any hopes to defeat their next opponent in a 7 game series. Series MVP: @Woahmack 2-0 (5G, 1A, +3) ROUND TWO PREDICTIONS Pittsburgh Penguins def. Philadelphia Flyers in 6 games New York Rangers def. Montreal Canadiens in 7 games Winnipeg Jets def. Nashville Predators in 6 games San Jose Sharks def. Calgary Flames in 5 games Good luck to everyone in round two!
Bake will never win a 7 game series. He'll just get 5 more honorable mentions so he feels alright at the end of the day.
It was a good laugh in the owners chat. "SHITTERS" and letting them know how bad NHL17 is. My bad Girgs
@APsychicTaco the series was rough and bounces just didn't work out. The way our "1st" line played the 2nd half of the season they probably should have been considered a 3rd line. They did well in the first game at pick possesion but didn't want to shoot the puck for some god awful reason. Definitely could have been a 2-2 or 3-1 series in our favor had some of the puck luck been on our side. But hey the better team won hands down.
