Here's the short version.

Difficulty is a critical factor in computer games and is a challenging factor to set appropriately. Game developers often use pre-defined curves that manipulate the level difficulty as players advance.

DDA predicts a player’s future state given current difficulty, and then intervenes if that state is undesirable.

We evaluated an implementation of the DDA technique in a mobile game by EA. The DDA treated group shows significant increases in core engagement metrics, such as a total number of rounds played and gameplay duration, while it is revenue neutral compared to the control group with no DDA enabled

Did you read any of it because it is literally a study of a new system, aimed at and tested on mobile games. Not a description of anything on consoles.

Still possible that EA would do something on console, but this doesn't show it.

I'm not saying there isn't, I'm just repeating what they've publicly said. I think that everyone that plays this game that has 1/2 a brain knows the game has ice tilt.

Maybe read more than just the title of the article before posting it and claiming that it proves ice tilt is real.

The language in the use case implicitly makes an effort to highlight all games, not just mobile

They affect difficulty, which would imply player vs. cpu. You wouldn’t set a difficulty for PvP unless there are AIs involved (like Hut or Versus).

The point would be to provide the player an increasing challenge, but in PvP the challenge is your opponent. They adjust for that with matchmaking preferences like a ranking system with the closest equivalent in NHL being club divisions.

 

The only game mode I feel like it’s blatantly obvious that there’s some form of a difficulty adjustment is when you play shitter teams in hut all of a sudden your Movember Ovi or star of the month Kucherov forgets how to hit the net multiple times in the same game mean while the game before they each had hatty’s. The momentum boost bull shit that’s in all aspects of the game’s gotta go.
