So I have played LG a couple of seasons now, and I am hoping to get to the AHL next season. By no means elite, but I'm respectable and need to consistently play better competition to get better. The problem I see as a G are:

    1) only a select few Gs stand out from one another

    2) you are SO dependent on the team you play for

    3) scouting opportunities are limited.

    4) I like competition but basically set my stats up for failure. I have ECUd 6 games this season and 5 have been vs San Jose or Utica. I was on Texas and so knew deck was stacked against me for those specific games but still played

I find that I usually end up being the 1st ECU G in but not quite sure how to crack a roster.

And before I get trolled, if I am a CHL lifer than so be it. I love LG and understand not everyone is good enough to make next level. But I figure this may be a good post for others to see if anyone has some solid feedback to provide. For me personally I have seen that post play is especially important in higher levels. Use the wrong post hug at wrong time and forwards will pick you apart.

Spend two seasons in the nhl with a conference final appearance! That’s the easiest way I found out :/

Goalie is by far the easiest position to move up to the AHL/NHL. If you're on at night and want to run a few games just look at the shoutboxes, most of the time you'll find somebody looking for a goalie. As long as you hold your shortside, save all the shots that you should save, and a few that you shouldn't you will get noticed.

Being a goalie in the CHL is frustrating. 90% of the games I played both teams would just take turns cross-creasing it off the rush a bunch of times and theres little to no cohesion amongst the forwards. As a goalie it's hard to read what they're going to do if they dont even know what they're going to do lmao. You'll have more success playing at a higher level as plays become easier to read.

As far as post play goes, I wouldn't use my post if the skater is at a sharp angle with his back to you. You'll find more success not hugging the post and just having your goalie right by it allows you to move more freely just in case the pass comes.

    Hope this helps

Ok although this did tickle me a bit I just couldn’t figure out how to rate the post. You are a wonderful goalie and a beautiful man. Forget those silly billies.

If someone needs a goalie, the first time we played this guy we should have won 10-1 but he made great saves the whole time. We ended up at only 3-1 there's no way this guy isn't worth a shot for someone's squad

@kjm007 thanks man. Appreciate the compliment.

@Big Wet Rim appreciate the thorough response. And yes I've learned to minimize post hug due to slow animation getting off post. What I meant is that in AHL/NHL post play has to be more precise timing. Best example I have is when someone is low but not right behind net. There is a certain point where as a G you have to read if they are coming back up short side or they are going far side for a wrap. Hug post prematurely and you get beat on wrap. Hug too late or not at all and risk getting beat short side. All depends on their speed of course.

Thanks to all replying to this. I definitely will utilize chat box more. I was hesitant until recently to jump into AHL chatbox but I've played enough and feel I've improved enough to be in there.

It's sounding like the big thing is networking moreso than actually scouting since there aren't nearly as many of those in offseason.

You should never feel you need to be at a certain level to be allowed to post in the shoutboxes. I would tell people to kindly fuck off. I was just some CHLer posting in all 3 myself. I got drafted after playing 1 season down here and they were gonna make me AHL. One of the NHL owners I played a few times with while I was in the middle of the my CHL season traded for me and brought me up to his team. I showed what I could do and now I'm here so dont let douchebags tell you to go back to your shoutbox.

I had to rim Nxgi s24 to get ecu games. Then x Neal x 18 x saw me rimming other bro's in a drop in game and it landed me a juicy 500k contract.

Share nudes of hot girls and claim they're your current or past girlfriend.

Hang out in the chat box, see who Mackie is harassing that day, and join in to show your willingness to adhere to proper AHL pecking order.

Find the NHL owners who are so toxic that no one wants to manage for them, and offer to be their AHL GM.
