Idea for LG/ESHL

    Hello LGHLer M8s.

    I’m making this thread to express interest in an idea that I’ve gotten from my time in another FIFA league. Recently there was a change in sites for the best FIFA league and with that, we discovered a new competitive setup that could be implemented here on LG. I have spoke to @LG McDonald briefly about this and did my best to explain all I can to @Tris10. So now I figured I’d lay it out in front of everyone here and get some feedback.

    This idea that I’m looking to see in LG is called “Rivals” on the FIFA league site. The idea is that if you and the team you’re on is registered to the website, and the opponent you’re facing will be sent to the website. Theoretically, you only need to visit the site to make an account and register your team name. Basically, the site automatically grabs the stats after the game occurs. The site is set for a window in which the season runs. Then teams are awarded points based on the result of the game and difficulty of opponent. The great thing is you can also jump onto other teams that are registered to the Rivals system and still earn a ranking for just playing games.

    The reason I feel this could be so big for LG is the amount of people that play in the league for hockey here. Would you not feel like your games would have more meaning if you knew your opponent was on this “Rivals” system? I tell you this much, it does for fifa. When we see we are in a game against a rivals opponent, it makes the game all the more competitive.

    So like HUT competitive seasons, but you receive individual rankings after playing games on “rivals” teams that are registered on LG?

    First thing, both teams need to be Rivals teams.

    Then it’ll grab any LG users that are in that game.

    We can run any leaderboard we want. We can do standings, goal leaders, assist leader, etc...

    But the games aren’t scheduled correct? You could go into a club game on a registered rivals team and randomly matchup with another club team that is a rivals registered team and that game would go towards LG leaderboards?

    So this would be adding in regular club and club challenge games when facing other LG members? I know myself, and many others hardly play club anymore for a wide variety of reasons (game sucks, tired of matching against randoms, bored of the game, etc.). It's possible implementing this could possibly give people the incentive to start playing club again. A decent amount of the community pretty much just play their LG games, and hardly play NHL outside of those games.

    with the amount of club hopping the leaderboard would be somewhat pointless would it not ?

    No. You still earn credit for “Rivals” games no matter what teams you’re on, as long as it’s two rival teams in the game.
