So, I subscribe to the belief that any media is good media. And I completely understand why you would review individual players over teams... BUT... This isn't really doing it for me. I really enjoyed your previous iteration of 12 Thoughts. It was opinionated, provided insight from different views I hadn't thought of, and was a fun listen. These new versions are essentially just reading the top 10 players from the stats page, then looking on the main page for the 3 most lopsided games of the week. Again, I know you got shit going on, I know you just got married, I know you're running a team now, blah blah blah. I get it. I just feel that your biggest strength as a podcaster - aside from the mug - is the willingness to be opinionated and have some fun with the pod. These types of segments tend to lean away from that. hope this doesn't come off as shitty, because I do appreciate the time you spend on these. I just feel if you're going to be spending all this time, you deserve some honest feedback for the effort.
Yeah SVV% really doesn't mean shit for goalies, either go by LG ranking which is overall rating or by win loss ratio.
hmmm win loss seems incredibly dependent on your team. svv atleast determines something that every goalie has in common. pucks being stopped
Yeah that's why LG ranking is good cause it accounts for GA, SVV% and difficulty of opponent's (from what I understand about the algorithm)
Another thing I would keep in mind is games played. More GP and decent stats needed to be weighed higher because it shows consistency. IE Backup goalies with unreal stats shouldnt win or be considered for the Vezina. Sv% is a good place to start IMO. Good goalies should stop the shots that are expected of them + some of the ones they aren’t. Vezina winning goalies IRL are typically from playoff teams. Id be more partial to a goalie with a high sv% on a good team with a good W/L record then a goalie with a phenominal record, low GAA with so-so sv%. If you play on a top team and cant put up good sv% numbers then you aren’t either getting the opportunity to carry (because they are so good they dont need the best goalie in the league to dominate) or your team is winning despite you.
