S30 Calder Memorial Trophy Finalists

First of all, congratulations to all the Calder Memorial Trophy nominees. The Calder Memorial trophy is an annual award received by "the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of full competition in the LGHL." The award is named after Frank Calder, the first president of the National Hockey League. The voting of this award is conducted in many different ways, but the community vote does play a role in who is determined the winner. That being said, I encourage you all to vote. This season, season 30, we have some very respectable finalists. In years past, this trophy has been awarded to some very "elite" players.

1.) Arctic Blur (NYR)
Record: 19-4-1
GP: 24 P: 60 G: 27 A: 33
+/- : +40 GA: 152 TA: 77
Record (vs. playoff teams) : 9-3-0
Record (vs. non-playoff teams) : 10-1-1

Arctic Blur had a great season and has proven to be an "elite" LGHL center. He played this season in between @Shockz and @CT66 , posting a 19-4-1 record although missing some games throughout the regular season. @Arctic Blur came up to the LGHL this season after putting up some monster numbers in the LGAHL last season for the Manitoba Moose. He was drafted in season 29 by @Im4thLineWorthy who owned the Winnipeg Jets organization, 22nd overall. For a late first round pick, he has proven to be a steal at the very least.


2.) Lorenzo x 24 (CAR)
Record: 17-9-3
GP: 29 P: 69 G: 44 A: 25
+/- : +14 GA: 307 TA: 94
Record (vs. playoff) : 8-8-3
Record (vs. non-playoff) : 9-1-0

Lorenzo x 24 also had a fantastic rookie season in the LGHL. He as well had a very successful season in the LGAHL last season, season 29, for the Manitoba Moose. It's still hard to believe that Manitoba Moose team didn't make more noise last season in the LGAHL playoffs. This season he played for @jyeti15s 's Carolina Hurricanes after going for $5.25 million in bidding alongside long time teammate and another Calder Memorial Trophy finalist, @rG Breezyy .


3.) rG Breezyy (CAR)
Record: 17-9-3
GP: 29 P: 69 G: 22 A: 46
+/- : +13 GA: 230 TA: 66
Record (vs. playoff) : 8-8-3
Record (vs. non-playoff) : 9-1-0

rG Breezyy had a very similar season to line mate, Lorenzo x 24 . He posted impressive numbers this season in his first season in the LGHL. @jyeti15s picked up rG Breezy in bidding for the price of $4.5 million. He most definitely proved his worth all season long. It will be interesting to see where he and @Lorenzo x 24 land next season via bidding after proving to be a dynamic rookie duo.


4.) mferra32 (COL)
Record: 19-5-2
GP: 27 P: 61 G: 22 A: 39
+/- : +12 GA: 233 TA: 72
Record (vs. playoff) : 7-5-2
Record (vs. non-playoff) : 12-0-0

mferra32 has had an extremely impressive regular season under the ownership of well respected owner @Givemedings16 . @mferra32 is on a steal of a two season contract at $1.5 million for the Colorado Avalanche after his return since season 27. Expect him to do damage and add depth to Colorado for their playoff run. This postseason it looks like he will be along side @FlowMaster Joe and @Prowsey8 as his line mates.


5.) JLucas (BOS)
Record: 20-6-2
GP: 28 P: 32 G: 5 A: 27
+/-: +28 GA: 190 TA: 125
Record (vs. playoff) : 3-5-2
Record (vs. non-playoff) : 17-1-0

xJLucas has had an incredible rookie season on the back end. It looks like he was flexible enough to play both sides, RD or LD, while also being shipped around throughout the season a bit. Although he was traded a few times, he consistently won games, hence the 20 win season. @xJLucas was under contract for $3.5 million on @A Salty Sail0r 's Boston Bruins. xJLucas is also coming off a Calder Cup winning season after playing on @Axey19 's Stockton Heat last season.

He was very close and in some other seasons may have been a finalist. Unfortunately the 16 win season, although deemed a good season, was not enough to make this cut. He is an "elite" player in my eyes though.

All good man. Unfortunately my team forfeited the last week of games i was scheduled in which hurt the chances of being nominated. Thanks for the kind words bud and goodluck in playoffs!

 

No disrespect to blur because he is an extremely solid player but you can put literally any player between shockz and ct and they will have a productive season. I'll give my vote to @Lorenzo x 24 and equally deserving would be @rG Breezyy because they were tasked with being rookies and Carolina go to playing with mediocre players.

 

Just look at @Wadden l32l

 

Arctic Blur has been hands down the best player to play on a line with Shockz and I and for him to play centre for us never the less. If he wasn’t playing as well as he did, he wouldn’t have lasted on our line. Congrats on a great season @Arctic Blur

A lot of expectations to play on our line, and Blur rose to the expectations at the minimum and displayed his skill for the boys throughout the season. He would have easily had 3 wins the last week if he didnt travel. But even without the extra boost in stats, I think this one is a no-brainer. #VoteBlur
