Not much really happened this week, but polska finally got what he wanted. i apologize in advance for everyone who has to listen to him in the chatbox for atleast a week. Here are your week 3 Rankings: Top 5 Teams in Week 2: 1. San Jose Sharks: 8-0-1 2. Calgary Flames: 7-1-1 3. New Jersey Devils: 7-1-1 4. Los Angeles Kings: 6-1-2 5. Tie (NYR, COL, NYI): 6-2-1 Top 5 Worst Teams in Week 2: 1. Winnipeg Jets: 1-7-1 2. Pittsburgh Penguins: 1-7-1 3. Philadelphia Flyers: 2-7-0 4. Anaheim Ducks: 3-6-0 5. Tie (MIN, VAN): 3-6-0 From The Top: San Jose Sharks Week 2 Record: 8-0-1 Overall Record: 17-6-5 (2nd in Pacific) After going 4-2-3 in week 2, the Sharks turned it around only losing to the Edmonton Oilers in overtime. San Jose scored 26 goals and more impressively, only allowed 11 (3 shutouts). The Sharks propelled themselves into second place in the Pacific. Next week will be a real test as they go head to head with some top teams in the East. Los Angeles Kings Week 2 Record: 6-1-2 Overall Record: 15-10-2 (5th in Pacific) After a subpar first two weeks of the season the Kings almost had a perfect week. They had slip ups against two lower tiered teams in overtime (Chicago and Anaheim). The Kings scored 30 goals and only allowed 17 (1 shutout). If L.A. can continue to beat the good teams and turn around the losses to bad teams, we could see them climb up the western standings. Near The Bottom: Winnipeg Jets Week 2 Record: 1-7-1 Overall Record: 8-17-2 (6th in Central) The Jets were one overtime game away (vs. Arizona) from being winless in week 3. They did have a tough schedule, but the way they lost games is what should be alarming. The Jets only scored 1 goal or less in 7 games this week (shutout twice). They only scored more than 2 goals once, which was their only win (Arizona). 10 goals is all they scored this week while allowing 35 in their own net. It won’t matter who they play with stats like this, the Jets will only be fighting for a lottery pick if the trend continues. Minnesota Wild Week 2 Record: 3-6-0 Overall Record: 13-14-0 (4th in Central) After a 6 win week 2, the Wild followed up that performance with 3 wins (Nashville, Chicago and Dallas) in week 3. Minnesota’s losses came again teams like Arizona (3-1), L.A. (5-2) and Vancouver (6-2). The Wild only find themselves four points out of a playoff spot. They have plenty of time to turn it around but can’t afford to have anymore weeks like this going forward.
