Season 12 AHL Power Rankings and Predictions

Season 12, the first season on NHL 20 has finally arrived! With the Regular season right around the corner, I decided to do a quick writeup including Power Ranking, Divisional Predictions and a quick dive into each team. I wrote this up myself so everything is based off of my opinion and what I know. Hope you enjoy!

DIVISIONAL BREAKDOWN


Eastern Atlantic:

1:Bridgeport Sound Tigers
- Good Contract: @BMillzy ($1,000,000)

- Bad Contracts: @SHAW BROZ($3,500,000)

- Breakdown: @bonwl brought over a ton of talent with him from Laval to an already talented team. The real question is how this team will be coming down the stretch and if the NHL will steal players or not. Expect to see Bon as a leading point scorer.


2:Wilkes Barrie Scranton Penguins
- Good Contract: @Marsh-all- ($500,000)

- Bad Contract: @Cole_83_ ($4,750,000)

- With a lot of forwards coming back, the previous Utica Comets will have another strong season. A little skeptical of how the defense will hold up but with the offense scoring a lot of goals, it shouldn't be an issue.


3:Charlotte Checkers
- Good Contract: @Ten Ply ($750,000 3S2R)

- Bad Contract: @Bartchy eh ($2,500,000)

- Breakdown: With a sad ending to his season in Rochester, @TheNortoriousBIG is looking for a strong rebound back into theplayoffs. With the two powerhouse teams listed above, it would be a tough matchup in the first round and being in a much tougher division, I would really like to see this team be at the top of the division at the end of the season.


4:Lehigh Valley Phantoms
- Good Contract: @Noblood777 ($500,000)

- Bad Contract: @PaulyDunks ($9,500,000)

- Breakdown: Ah good memories... Former Team, but not technically the defendingchampions. Regardless, this roster looks pretty stealthy. I have some questions with the low budget defense they have but you have to cut some salary when dishing out 38% of your total salary on 1 player. It didn't work out for any team last season,will @PaulyDunks prove he's worth the big contract?


5:Hartford Wolfpack
- Good Contract: @boreass516 ($500,000)

- Bad Contract: @xNecrochasm($4,500,000)

- Breakdown: Mixed feelings about this team here. Last season, Hartford had a rough season even with good DP status players on the team. With even more draft pick players coming in and a decent bidding session, I feel these guys are in a matchup with the Phantoms in which could come down to the wire at the end of the season. All I have to say is keep @Schmxtty out of your game 7 lineup.... Guy chokes worse than Kershaw.


6:Hershey Bears
- Good Contract: @Baba_Booey22($500,000)

- Bad Contract: @CharlesBawsMTL($3,250,000)

- Breakdown: @mikenaughty did a pretty decent job with bringing in some good pieces in his first session of bidding as management. @GZUS, @Baba_Booey22, and @Sunshine2644 alone are some good names to build a line around. If availability and good defense show up, this team could be a surprise playoff team in this division.


7:Springfield Thunderbirds
- Good Contract: @Canniff20 ($500,000)

- Bad Contract: @curlew7 ($3,500,000)

- Breakdown: Just from looking at this roster, I can tell its gonna be an up and down year. @LG McDonald and crew up front look to have their hands full as their defense looks fairly weak in the toughest division in the AHL. Prove me wrong.


8:Palm Springs Firebirds
- Good Contract: @Filip Zadina ($500,000 3S1R)

- Bad Contract: @OsamaBinBLAZZIN ($6,250,000)

- Breakdown: With being the next expansion team this season, I was a bit surprised with the choice of their free contracts. @Filip Zadina is the obvious MVP on this team coming off an incredible season with Chicago. The question being for this team is how will they last with a team full of CHLers in the Eastern Atlantic jungle of the AHL.


9:Providence Bruins
- Good Contract: @jansta-dude ($500,000)

- Bad Contract: @ostrich2face ($5,000,000)

- Breakdown: Rounding out the bottom are the Providence Bruins. Im just not seeing anyone on their team who can lead this team to scoring. Again, several CHL players but that could be a good thing. Totally different game in the AHL. Hopefully they can prove me wrong.





Eastern North:


1:Belleville Senators
- Good Contract: @LeFrancois_99Qc ($500,000)

- Bad Contract: None

- Breakdown: Like last year's CharlotteCheckers, they got a lot of help receiving several high talented draft pick players. @cornect57 was set up from the start with players coming back from last season which lead him to have an easy bidding session. These guys have to be Calder Cup Favorites.


2:Laval Rocket
- Good Contract: @JiveTurkey x91x($3,000,000)

- Bad Contract: None

- Breakdown: After recently playing with and against some of these guys, they have some potential to do some damage. @The_Falcon_ had to work a little in bidding to bring in the under the radar @MayerTopKat100 and a few others from the Xbox side, I lexpect these guys to be competing with Belleville for the top spot.


3:Binghamton Devils
- Good Contract: @Goofy_indian($1,500,000)

- Bad Contract: @xHyper91 ($8,250,000)

- Breakdown: Ah the former Calder Cup Champions. Well under my wing that was. Not the exact same roster as last season but they do have the clutch specialist @Ripley52, from the west line back along with the brick wall himself @xkilluh95x. With the defense getting bids in the NHL( Congrats @lllTrick and @Ice57maN) and @Hart_A_ttaK getting banned for having a tough work schedule, the chemistry may be an issue for the west line but luckily @Goofy_indian is one of the best center men in the league in my opinion and can play with just about anyone and make magic. I had my questions about @Red_Pepsi8 taking over this team with the season he had last season, but it'll be hard to be bad with a roster like this. Also may want to give @JonnyT217 another try, that guy was the biggest steal in the draft in my opinion and can carry!


4:Syracuse Crunch
- Good Contract: @xxSNIPESHOTxx21($1,000,000 3S2R)

- Bad Contract: @Elspicoli420 ($3,250,000)

- Breakdown: In a weaker than normaldivision, Im surprised to even see Syracuse in a playoff spot. I believe@xxSNIPESHOTxx21 and @PatriotOfCanadacan have big seasons and push themthrough.


5:Toronto Marlies
- Good Contract: @Jmoneypreludsei ($500,000)

- Bad Contract: @Mollet_29 ($3,750,000) WOWWWW

- Breakdown: Before trading @xHyper91and his huge contract, I thought Toronto was going to be the Season 11 Toronto we all remember. But bringing in @KeigaaaNand @Feelted in that trade they suddenly look a bit better. Defensively they are looking rough. After bidding @Mollet_29 at $3,750,000 and bidding a combined $2,750,000 for both of their goalies, they are going to have a hard strengthening up their defense for the long push into the playoffs.


6:Rochester Americans
- Good Contract: @ItsNotEeyor ($500,000)

- Bad Contract: @Kash-647 ($4,500,000)

- Breakdown: Don't get me wrong, @Kash-647 is a stellar defenseman but I have not seen him play up therefore I feel $4,500,000 is a bit high but I will say this team has some talent. The issue I have with them though is depth. Defensively, they look set but goaltending and depth up front has them low on my rankings.


7:Utica Comets
- Good Contract: @XKILLBRICKXTREME($2,000,000)

- Bad Contract: @shockers2004($4,000,000)

- Breakdown: I was expecting to see a better bidding session out of this Management group. First off bidding @shockers2004 up to $4,000,000 and then bidding @Coffey-Lidstrom up to $3,000,000 and then sending him down. I'm not sure about the story behind that but in my eyes, thats a wasted contract and a sad start to a long season. Good luck.


8:Cleveland Monsters
- Good Contract: @SouLAssassiN00($500,000)
- Bad Contract: @XTailsy ($2,250,000)
- Breakdown: Having a guy like @BennettX96 on your squad is always a good thing but he certainly cannot carry the 500k backend.





Western Central


1:Texas Stars
- Good Contract: @MercerQC ($500,000)

- Bad Contract: None

- Breakdown: The reigning and defending Western Conference Champions look a lot better than last season. @xSnipeSter and @Swiickk brought a lot of their guys back and adding more depth and skill in @MercerQC and @Ethos Jinx. This my personal pick to get to the finals and redeem themselves for last years loss at the big dance.


2:Rockford IceHogs
- Good Contract: All Draft Picks

- Bad Contract: @Moofang ($5,000,000)

- Breakdown: @Pawdiddy did a great job last year putting together a great team to get into the playoffs. Unfortunately he didn't make it far. A sweep in the 2nd round has him determined to build better and right out of the gate he has. With several draft pick players returning from last year and the picks from this year's draft, he had a good start to bidding. Look for these guys to sit near the top of the standings this season.


3:Milwaukee Admirals
- Good Contract: @Metcalf91 ($750,000)


- Bad Contract: @thekiller9879($3,000,000)

- Breakdown: Having Milwaukee in the 3 spot was a head scratcher for me. There are a few teams that can fill the final 2 playoff spots for this division but @nazzy2facealways finds a way to surprise.


4:San Antonio Rampage
- Good Contract: @Kable_72 ($500,000)

- Bad Contract: @GrammyHands($4,750,000)

- Breakdown: I really don't know how @althewall made it into the playoffs last season for the Penguins. Maybe an easy schedule? I just didn't see anything good on that team and I feel the same this season. In a division where really anybody can take the final 2 spots, I see the Rampage getting lucky and taking it.


5:Chicago Wolves
- Good Contract: @jor2good ($500,000)

- Bad Contract: @McLean-16 ($3,000,000)

- Breakdown: I really like was @eye2797 did with this team although I have them at #5 in the division, like I have said this division can have anyone make the playoffs. Not really a big goal scorer here but they have names that can potentially breakout for them.


6:Iowa Wild
- Good Contract: @ghost_726 ($500,000 2S1R)

- Bad Contract: @Bobby_Goggles12($5,000,000)

- Breakdown: Again, spending a lot of your salary on a single player is always a risk. But Iowa on the other hand, spent 56% of there salary on 2 players. Hopefully @Labratis worth the $9,000,000 you guys dished on him because looks to lack depth.


7:Grand Rapids Griffins
- Good Contract: @Powerofprop ($500,000)

- Bad Contract: @CrashMan67 ($7,500,00)

- Breakdown: @CrashMan67 is my dude but #7,500,000 for him is an overbid. This team looks to be strong up the middle but the question is can @Furdayzbuddy pick it up and lead this team into a playoff spot? I know he and this team have potential so look for them to lean on Furdayz.


8:Manitoba Moose
- Good Contract: None

- Bad Contract: @lJaguarKnightl($4,750,000)

- Breakdown: All I can say is that this team is in for a long season. Go ahead and make a thread about that one.





Western Pacific


1:Colorado Eagles
- Good Contract: @VehnoM_ ($750,000)

- Bad Contract: @MafiaRage ($3,250,000)

- Breakdown: These Eagles... Again, @Userpic1306 has done a great job building a good squad. With keeping @Brydxn on a free contract and @VehnoM_ on another cheap contract, it helped them in bidding to build around those guys. In a weak division, look for these guys to run with it.


2:Bakersfield Condors
-Good Contract: @BillsBlack ($1,000,000 2S1R)

- Bad Contract: @Chuter97 ($4,000,000)

- Breakdown: @Beaverclopsx27 and @Curtl88l have built a a pretty good squad. Being good players themselves, having guys like @x_CaM_73_x, @abbazabba24 and @A Dumb Bigfoot on good contracts, you have to feel good about your offense.


3:San Jose Barracuda
-Good Contract: @Celltrace ($500,000)

- Bad Contract: @dusty554 ($5,500,000)

- Breakdown: Not sure how @Lazy Pedestrian was able to take management in the AHL with being at an NHL skill level and playing many seasons up there.Regardlessof his skill level, his bidding skill may have been lacking. Unless this squad of 500k players are gems, I don't see them being successful. Prove me wrong.


4:San Diego Gulls
- Good Contract: @DakotaPie ($1,000,000 2S1R)

- Bad Contract: @VoDk-SniiPy ($3,000,000)

- Breakdown: I don't really know much about this team to be honest. Regardless of that, I have them in the final playoff spot in the Pacific.


5:Tucson Roadrunners
- Good Contract: @sessman ($1,000,000)

- Bad Contract: @FilthyPuck97 ($8,500,000)

- Breakdown: This team really lacks a leading scorer on the front end and yetanother team spending a big percentage of their salary on 2 players. @FilthyPuck97 had a horrendous season last year in the NHL on a very bad team going for $8,500,000 this season and @Tychi66 having a bad season as well going for $5,500,000.


6:Ontario Reign
- Good Contract: @vlzkzflp ($1,000,000)

- Bad Contract: @jiccy31 ($3,000,000)

- Breakdown: Ontario is another team you can add to the list of teams that won't score many goals. Offensively they are lacking a big goal scorer leaving them to rely on their expensive defensive core.


7:Stockton Heat
- Good Contract: None

- Bad Contract: @MrPeppa777 ($2,000,000)

- Breakdown: Last but not least rounding out the bottom of the standings are your Stockton Heat. I honestly don't see this team doing much this season. Spending $2,000,000 on a CHL goalie is certainly a head scratcher for me. Along with @MrPeppa777, there are many other CHL players coming up for the season. With the CHL being a much easier league to succeed in, I just don't see those stateliness being the same for these newbies.


Again, this thread is fully based off of my own opinion and what I know. The contracts doesn't mean a player is good or bad based off of their contract ratings I gave them. Hopefully everyone enjoys this. Good luck!

I suck. I overpass , force like a jedi , cant shoot, cant ever win a faceoff but had my best two seasons in the A with wall on my side . we wont be best but we def wont be a walk in the park to any team . Good luck to all tho
