S13 Goalie Tandem Rankings East (Metro)

Using @Miikeyx09's idea of ranking teams by Conference, I decided to put a twist on it and rank the goalie tandems across the whole league.

Some disclaimers before reading:
- These are my personal rankings
- This list is dedicated to goalies and goalies only, no weight was given to the team playing in front of them
- If you and your goalie partner got ranked lower than you feel you should have, use it as motivation to prove me wrong, the same goes for tandems that got ranked high, prove it!
With that being said, lets get into it!

Metropolitan Division
1. Carolina Hurricanes
(Projected) Starter: vSheepDog
Backup: vicmaltvinegar

Why #1?
I ranked these 2 at number 1 because of the mix of a solid veteran presence in the projected starter position, and an upcoming talent in the projected backup position. Vsheep had another solid year last season, and I expect the same on an upgraded canes roster. Vic showed in his stint in the AHL last season that he deserves to be on this level, the only question being can he keep his numbers up in the NHL this season. I think yes.

2. New York Rangers
(Projected) Starter:
Backup: Navyynick

Why #2?
Ranked at number 2, I strongly feel that the only chance that the rangers have this season is in their goalies. Bacon is gross, and he showed that in the AHL last season when he backpacked Bridgeport into the playoffs. Solid stats from Nick in the last season that he played in net suggest that goaltending will not be the issue for them this season.

3. New York Islanders
(Projected) Starter: Kroftonite
Backup: SouLAssassiN00

Why #3?
The only thing keeping me from ranking these 2 at 2nd is the premise that they both didn't play goalie last season. Some say this could help, but I believe that as being the only possible question facing the Islanders organization this coming season. Looking at Kroftonite's stats, as well as Soulassasin's, I believe that this tandem will have a good season.

4. Philadelphia Flyers
(Projected) Starter: Breezy5457
Backup: bNYCe83

Why #4?
I have no question in Breezy being able to steal games for the Flyers this season, and although at a hefty price tag of $2.5 Million this season, I believe he is worth his contract. The questions posed are at bNYCe83, who looks to bounce back after a sub-par season by his standards. If bNYCe83 can hold his own this season, the flyers will be successful.

5. Washington Capitals
(Projected) Starter: Doc_Marshmallow
Backup: Sam_2410

Why #5?
Like Breezy in Philadelphia, I have no doubts in Doc stealing games for the Capitals this season. I love watching Doc play mainly due to him being so fluid and relaxed in the net. Also like Philadelphia is the lack of trust in the backup goalie. I mean no disrespect to Sam, but especially with a lack of stats on a level higher than the CHL, I am hard-pressed to rank Washington any higher than 5th.

6. Pittsburgh Penguins
(Projected) Starter: J_King342
Backup: cgiroux11

Why #6?
A hefty price tag at $2 Million means expectations are high for Jking, who hasn't played a season of goalie in LG since S9. On the topic of backups, cgriroux looks to right his wrongs from last season with below average numbers compared to his seasons prior. A good Pens squad in front of them should provide the support needed for a good season from both.

7. New Jersey Devils
(Projected) Starter: SpencerKnight30
Backup: ITheFranchizeI

Why #7?
This is a tough one, right from the get-go. Firstly, I'm not entirely sure who is the starter. One could argue that because Knight has more NHL experience that he'll get the nod, but looking at stats one could also say that Franchize deserves the start because his stats were noticeably better albeit in the AHL. Either way, these are 2 solid goalies who will battle all season for the starting job which should produce some good stats for both.

8. Colombus Blue Jackets
(Projected) Starter: x_Binnington_50
Backup: Levac27

Why #8?
Stats from both of these goalies pose questions, the biggest one being will the Jackets roster be strong enough to keep it in check? Binnington played on a depleted Bruins roster last season, so blaming him for sub-par stats isn't justified. In terms of Levac, I strongly believe that anyone who has to make a post on the NHL forum begging for a bid shouldn't be in the NHL. But that's my opinion, prove me wrong guys!

Why does everyone keep saying @CrawlingBacon carried Bridgeport to the playoffs last season? Sure, he was a huge part of our success, but we were a top 5 team. We had the 7th most goals for in the AHL and 8 out of 9 of our forwards had at least 69pts (I would have too if I didn't miss 2 weeks for vacation).

Put some respect on the S12 Sound Tigers!
