Morning gentlemen, first cup of coffee here so bear with me. Alright I took a little time and went into "test and tune" for this so no other cars on track and no drafting, when you see these times you will understand why I asked for fellow 100%'rs to race with. And also feel free to add your times. I used my hometown track which is Atlanta Motor Speedway. No setup tweaking whatsoever and a minimum of 5 laps each. Times are : Default Rookie setup - 31.44 Default Veteran setup - 31.32 Default Vet setup WITH 85% on grille tape - 31.10 It should also be noted that I did this with my own car, then I did it with 24 Jeff Gordon and then 48 Jimmy's car....so there was no difference between mine or one that came with, the points carry over. And here is the reason why I ask for fellow 100'rs to race with: Talledega - Top speed in both rookie and vet setup's was 186 With 90% tape and ON the backstretch a whopping 190mph was the max and I barely broke the 190 mark (lol) 190 max on backstretch at dega is not going to do anything online. In fact I run anywhere from a -6.0 to -10.0 split and even worse the longer it goes, on a short track I will plain get lapped. Hope the info helps anybody, and hey like I asked , if you have a 100 prct car then if we raced it would come down to only our setup and our skill would it not? And this is my first nascar game on a console and you pro's correct me if im wrong but you can have the best setup in the world your not going to make up an average of being outran by 10mph....alot of people tell me to start over do this do that...well I would like to have a little faith EA will release a patch, and if not oh well. Anyway, I would be interested to know your fastest default setup Atlanta time in just a car with the horsepower max and nothing else if you have one, Good day all.
At Atlanta, with a car that is 100 engine and 75 aero(rest default), my fatest lap was a 28.6 during a race. I was using the vetern setup with just a few changes (can't remember exactly what that was). I average 28.8-30.0, on pro driving model with only assists anti-lock brakes, traction control and stability control on low. As for my cars, I have Superspeedway and Speedway on 100 engine and 75 aero. Road courses and short tracks on only 100 engine.
It's the setups. I have maxed out performance points for every car; 100's across the board. I was hitting 202 on the backstretch at Talladega last night in a 12-player race, and still I could not keep up with the lead draft. After 2 laps or so I would be coming off of turn 2 while the leaders were going into turn 4. I mean hell, guys were qualifying with low 48's and someone even said some guy ran a 47.2. My maxed-out superspeedway car with veteran setup and 75% grille tape (and a perfect lap) ran a 50.3x for qualifying.... so it's pretty clear to me based on that that setup is WAY more important than performance points online.
So you just maxed out the engine? I find it hard to believe that setups would make that much difference at a track like Talladega or Daytona. Now I could see a huge difference between controller racers and wheel racers, as the smoother you are at those tracks, the faster you'll go. I don't know. I'd take any track in that game anyday over Talladega and Daytona anyway.
Thank you for that info then Xpress, if your hitting 202 in a 100% car and it is indeed the setup then I will spend some more time tweaking and tuning everything I can for it. This tells me that it would not be a waste of time to work on the setup if indeed the points is not the reason your 12mph faster then me. It is hard to believe that the setup alone can make up 12mph wow.. But I will give it all a try , good day.
Oh... see, I didn't know about the 'engine only pp upgrade' glitch for superspeedways, so I have everything maxed out. I rarely race on those tracks anyway by choice though, so I guess I was ignorant about it. I'm with you, I can't stand racing at Daytona or Talladega, reminds me of racing around the superspeedway in Forza 2. You basically take the challenging driving aspect of NASCAR (braking, line through the corner, when to get back on the throttle on corner exit) and throw it out the window, and with this freedom from the pesky thing known as braking and throttle control, people end up racing the track like it's Bristol or something (not to mention the draft is way too powerful and you end up with enormous closing speed when closing up on someone, which again leads to even more wrecks). I think Michigan and California, boring as they are to watch on TV, are the best tracks to race at online because there's just so much room to race, and it's actually a fairly challenging track to get consistently good times on.
I agree. I only have engine maxed out on mine. I used veteran setup and all I did was move the sliders for speed and loose two spots and grip one spot and had a decent qualifying, enough for middle of the pack anyway. I'm not going to go in and tweak all these little things. I don't have the time and for that track if you stay in the draft I feel you have a chance. Of course last night I was doing a lot of giving and not a lot of taking. Daytona is okay but with 14 people it's a little much. People just had trouble holding a line as far as I could tell. We had a good race going at the end, about 11:30 central, until we all got dropped. I would much rather do a Richmond or a few other different tracks. But it seems everyone just does those two.
I am a fan of the smaller tracks like bristol darlington lowers, not a real fan of the superspeedways
if you are qualifying or in a no damage race put the grill tape to 100%. i can also hit 202 on deg backstretch with my PP at 100 engine only. i heard that putting any aero PP on slows you down. the main setup tweaks as i understand (at least at dega and daytona) asre grille tape, lowering the wedge, lowering the gears differential sligthtly ans lowring the fourth gear to .88. there are slight tweaks after that in sawy and track bars and tire pressures, but they dont make THAT big of a difference. if you want setup's check my EA locker for some examples.
i just played those two last night becasue i think they are easiest tracks, i definitely want to use some variety as well.
Then I say if we run those two track to run with damage on. Kinda stupid and unrealistic to run with 100% grill tape.
Duhhhh Well in my defense it is my first nascar game, anyway, I just took a break from some more test and tune. Now im starting to wonder if there is any glitch at all. So I go to dega' again, keep in mind im talking test and tune mode, there are no other cars or drafting help. 1 simple gameplay setting...felt like an idiot, someone here mentioned this before and id like to give that person the credit but cant remember who mentioned it. All I did was change from Pro mode and vet difficulty to pro mode and "legend" I think its called.....here are results with NO drafting or set up tweaks. Dega' went from previous 190 to 196 ...now i can see setup and drafting making up the speed difference. Then the best of all , went to michigan put it back on pro-vet , added some tape but only to 65percent. And took off any braking help. With NO draft....coming out of turn 4 was at 206mph , by the time I got to turn 1 I hit 212 mph.. wow didnt realize the "braking help" that was default on "vet" difficulty made that much of difference. Now as I said I wonder if all these people talking about a glich on xbox and ea forums just simply dont know to turn that off, hell I dont even know if it is proper nascar ettitquite to share info but I am looking at this place as a team not a league, maybe my mistake but anyway.....now im ready to do some online.....can take some pics of the 206 and 212 if needed lol. Thanks whomever said that on here. Racing right now if anybody is around.
