Bryzagalov was waived because no one wanted him. A lot of people realized he was a decent goalie but there was a real glut of goalies who were considered to be of equal calibre on virtually every team. He has got playing time - and now is considered a pretty good one shot wonder. Time will tell if he has staying power.

Halak is in the same category - but really Montreal is stupid. Price is a terrible goalie. As far as I can tell he has the yips, and doesn't care to correct it. He has zero heart and he doesn't care how he or his team performs. I am aware that Montreal brass loves him - but this is a baaaaaaad trade.

My only thought is they couldn't get a bag of pucks for Price - so rather than be "stuck" with 2 goalies they traded the only one of value - to other teams. My supposed fact that Price is worthless to other teams should have led those idiots to think maybe they are hitching their wagon to the worng horse.

They should have bought Price out and kept Halak. There are 29 goalies of Prices skill riding the pines somewhere. Perhaps that McDonalds goalie could play better.

Tris and Gerbox - go to your rooms.

Great deal for the Blues. Even if the prospects work out - Halak is a good goalie.

I think proven goalies have plenty of value in the NHL. But neither Price nor Halak is that to this point in their careers. Goalie trades are weird, sometimes they pan out, and sometimes you miss badly. Some local ones that come to mind are Jim Carey from Washington (wins the vezina and I think rookie of the year, then comes to Boston and gets housed for a year and a half and never heard from again). How about Raycroft for Rask straight up a few years back. Raycroft wins rookie of the year, puts up fantastic numbers, goes to Toronto and stinks the joint up. Backup ever since. I think St. Loius got the better of this one on paper, but only time will tell how Halak pans out.

Halak -.917 career save percentage = god
Price - .912 career save percentage = terrible

    Check.

Also buying out an RFA that made 885,000 last year is both impossible and really really stupid.

there isnt a big enough sampling from either goalie. Sorry but a couple seasons in the nhl isn't enough to start comparing career stats.

Goalies do have a lower trade value. Mostly becuase there are only 3 on a team.

Don't think it matters as he had a great year last with a crappy team in front of him ;)
