1st Night: What We've Learned

Few things need to be fixed with the tournament besides that its pretty enjoyable playing for "Something". Good luck to all the teams and have a great tourney.

 

I got two facts for you:
1.your team was shit then
2. Its still shit now.

 

Lastly ill let everyones game do the talking, until the tourney's over that is.

 

I think a win is a win and a loss is a loss. If a team losses 10 straight games in OT, they are still on a 10 game losing streak. What happens if a team losses 1- in regulation but out time on attacks the other team 12:00-2:00. Should that not weigh in as much as a regular loss because they clearly dominated?

 

AO and I were discussing the idea of weighted games, does a team dominating 8-0 deserve more points than a 2-1 win? I dunno, for a tournament like this it seems like an unnecessary complications. I suppose you could say the same thing for lessening the blow for OTLs, I just feel as though once you get to that threshold (the end of regulation) that you deserve a little extra credit. To me it just seems logical for a regular season type format like we are playing out currently. We are trying to dictate seeding 1-16 and it should be an added element rather than just purely playing off wins and losses. Perhaps I have bias because I'm on one of the "lesser" teams in this tournament, but I feel like if we take one of the top teams to OT we should get something out of it or at least be punished less severely than just losing the game in regulation. An OTL is recognizing that you played a good game and rewarding you for doing so.

 

Also, I'd like to add I had a ton of fun playing last night. The system worked seamlessly and we had 3 really great games against Never Unlucky.

My ONE complaint is with regard to home ice and hosting. I don't understand the logic behind the team with the better record getting to host every game, in fact, that seems incredibly stupid to me. Don't get me wrong I'm not making an excuse and it wasn't the reason why we lost at all, in fact, I personally don't really buy into the whole host advantage. But I owe it to my team to bring it up and for the sake of fairness there needs to be a better methodology behind dictating host.

Alright guys let it go, move on. Besides Rock already informed me that we had zero chance of winning this (apologies to everyone who picked us.. No one) and he also let me know they are the better team.

But seriously, I'm tired of this, it's taking away from this tournament and all the great games and times clubs are having.

this should be fixed immediately. Prob would make sense to alternate home and away every time you match up(if that's even possible). Played the same team three times last night and was away every game. I don't think the home team gets that much of an advantage, but they get a small one at the least. I mean if we roll like this for the rest of the season might as well have the lower ranked team in the playoffs be a road team for all seven games then. Common sense this should be fixed ASAP. l agree with what blick said besides that complaint, everything has been great.

 

I wonder if Tris can come up with an algorithm or something that whoever has been the away team the longest/more gets home team for each challenge

However, this way does make you want to play more so you do get higher in the standings so you can be the home team...promotes activity...

 

I had fun last night, too bad I had to get off before the triple threat match.
