Hrmm - for some reason I thought that 6 months after the release of the "new" NHL game - the servers for the previous year's version were taken down. I gave away my older copies of the NHL franchise so I can't test it - but how long do the servers typically stick around for? Are the NHL 13 servers still up and working? NHL 12?

If the servers go down after 6 months then sticking with NHL 14 is obviously not really an option after the first season but since nobody seems to be talking about this as an issue then I assume it's not?

They stay up for a year, but they're usually shit because they dont do maintenance on them.

 

Servers stay up 2 1/2 years. NHL 13 servers are still up an will probably go down around next February when they do their annual sports game cleansing. (NHL, FIFA, madden, etc.) NHL 14 will be up another year and a half on the other hand.

Lets be real here:
Next season is going to suck no matter what game. As much as everyone is fighting to not buy NHL 15 on next gen, you all will. Are you really going to want to go back to playing shitty NHL 14 on 360, when your playing next gen hockey? Doubtful. Are you going to buy NHL 15 for xbox 360? I really hope not, everyone bought xbox ones to play the new NHL on that.

In all honesty, the entire year should be canned, people might jump on board at first, but the longer you play NHL 15 on next gen, the less and less interested you will be to come back to play a game of OTP on NHL 14. This will lead to a ton of forfeits, blacklists, etc etc, EA sports fucked us this year, but I feel another 3 seasons on NHL 14 will just continue the bleeding, and I hope nobody would be dumb enough to buy NHL 15 on a 360, it wasn't made to be played on that system. To really keep the integrity of the league, I think it's best to just say NO to LGHL this year, the community will move to fifa or other games on the site so there is no real fear of not having the same community back for NHL 16's 3 seasons of LGHL.

Just my two sense, but I cant be the only one thinking this, as much as I will miss playing over the year, I can wait to come back in a year where the league will be running at its full capacity with the good staff we have here.

 

I dont like HUT or VS play, I'll admit that I'll probably get it eventually but I imagine a lot of people are in my position where they own an XB1 but dont really feel excited to get NHL15 for it.

NHL14 was far superior to anything since NHL11, not sure why you'd call it shitty. Yes I am going to buy NHL15 for the Xbox 360, and Im sure EVERYONE has already purchased their Xbox Ones, there are plenty of people, top players and CHLers, that havent made the jump to XB1 yet.



Now, I could go through the rest of this post and pick it apart, but you're also the guy who made the "let the cheaters cheat if you try to catch them you're a loser" thread so you are clearly someone that shouldnt be listened to when it comes to when talking about how to run a league.

 

Only reason I play NHL, and by extension xbox, is to experience some great 6v6 action. They take this away and gut half the other features and what is left? An extended demo. Playing against the AI is NOT fun, it just doesn't compare to the experience of playing against humans who can do crazy things and make human mistakes too.

LG used to be a 3v3 league with NHL rosters, but going back to that would be a HUGE step back. People playing on shit teams would get screwed huge, and people who get teams like the hawks or kings would have such an unfair advantage. This would also add 10+ minutes to each game because teams would need to edit lines before each game or end up getting shit players. Maybe they won't even let you edit lines, then your stuck playing LD all game with ratings of 79,77,76 while some guy on the other team has Duncan Keith and Nik Hjalmarsson to play with.

 

Not only this, but the bandwidth that was dedicated to these boxes will be diverted to NHL 15's servers. I imagine LG's numbers will be lower than the past two seasons either way, but this could spell trouble having a lot of games going on at once.

 

I think NHL 15 on the 360 is the best option for the whole year.

Positives:

*New game therefore people will be more inclined to stick around.
*More server support/bandwidth.
*Larger game base, already finding a club game on NHL14 takes a very long time.

Negatives:

*$60 for NHL 14.5, probably new commentary & tuner changes.
*Some people have sold their Xbox 360 for the xb1 or ps4 so they are gone.
*NHL 14 was a fun game, who knows what they did to make NHL15 "different".

 

14 was not a fun game. Unless you run 6'9 enforcer and take 5 minute majors to piss of @At43
