Well, that would be because having played only 24 games means you weren't the starter, MindHunter was. As stated before, you need to play a minimum of 25 games to win the Holmes Memorial Award (lowest GAA). For the Bastien (Best Goalie) you have to have played the most games as a goalie on your team, in other words you have to be the starter on your team. If someone isn't good enough to be playing at least 5 games per week in your GM's eyes, then they won't be the best goalie, no matter how good their stats are.

Does that apply when the starter gets traded and the backup becomes the starter? 20 games for a starter is very low.

 

There isn't any special circumstances, if you're the goalie with the most games played on your team, you are eligible for the Bastien. That being said, for someone like immortalbmw, who has amazing stats, but he's only played 21 games, so it's hard to say he's the best goalie because he's played such an insignificant amount of games in comparison to you at 51 GP, or Crabby Crawfish at 49 GP, and so on. Even though he may be the starter, and have good stats, a goalie who has played less than 30 games hasn't made the impact that goalies with 40+ GP and similar stats.
