Is this guy asking us to manually count each player's giveaways and takeaways for each game? And then subtract all the dumps and chips, as those used to count in-game as a giveaway?

 

imo +/- is a gauge of overall team play. sample size. but on the other hand if you play with trash d men than its a horrible rep of your individual play and more of a reflection of how shitty your team plays. and imo the powerplay vs. even strength argument is funny cause you shouldnt get penalized for a penalty laden teammate. and if your -3 +/- even strength, then thats your gauge. seems like your saying not getting compensated for pp goals is a bad thing. but honestly neither team's +/- is affected. Just my opinion and we all know how those go.......

 

Can we just get PDO and some other fun stats?

Giveaways is a worse stat than +/- . +/- is pretty much only relevant when looking at the players team. If you are a -17 and the next worse on your team is a -3, obviously it's you that is the liability. Giveaway leaders are usually the best players on the team because they control the puck way more than everyone else. In the NHL 8 of the top 15 assist leaders are in the top 20 for most giveaways.

 

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.

 

For obvious reasons, I'm 100% against this.

 

I don't even know who half the people posting in this thread are.

 

As we all know, the only important stat in this league is penalty minutes. Less than 5 pims a game? I dont want you on my team

You're on a team buddy, sorry but everyone on the ice is responsible for every goal for and against. If you can't understand that concept, team sports isn't for you, and see you on the tennis court.

Definitely wish this game reviews recorded turnover/takeaway stats in game. It's annoying shutting down forwards all game to only give up a goal once in awhile then here from forwards bitching as if they haven't been turning over all game.
