I will make a write up for each match ups for the playoffs round 1 during the weekend. Each write ups will have the same format. I will analyse both teams forwards, defencemen, goaltenders and ecu pool separately as well as finishing it up with a conclusion and a faceoff between a player of each team. 1. Fowards 2. Defencemen 3. Goaltending 4. Ecu pool 5. Faceoff 6. Conclusion Stay tuned, your team will come soon! DALLAS STARS VS WINNIPEG JETS This is an interesting match up between two teams that went through totally opposite paths to become what they are today. The first took an audacious approach and built an exceedingly offensive team via the trade market and the second kept the same group of guys to play a vigorous defensive system all season long. 1. FORWARDS: Advantage Dallas The Stars can bank on a well balanced group of highly offensive forwards that knows how to put it in the back of the net. Their 332 Goals for awards them the 2nd best offensive team in the league right behind the Chicago Blackhawks. @Bizzy313 and @oO-FoOLx90-Oo, who were both acquired just before the trade deadline, as well as @phD_In_Hockey , GM @Kadri-- , Owner @x ShauN 88 x and Art Ross trophy winner @Theos_l7l will all need to keep their cool while trying to exploit the flaws in Winnipeg's defensive system during the series. They should also work on their discipline in order to reduce the amount of scoring chances given to their opponent. Getting frustrated is not an option. The Jets have adapted elegantly to their lack of forward depth and compensated this problem with a solid 5-man defense system that could be very hard to break in the playoffs. They rely upon @xxSNIPESHOTxx21 , @SabbyAy , @Catharsis_Alex and GM @jboro1227 to put the team on the scoresheet. They should have a chance to beat the Stars if they dont change anything about the way they've been playing all season long. They are going for the long con: Good D at all cost - good discipline - cash in on most of the opportunities that present themselves - repeat. 2. DEFENCEMEN: Equal Winnipeg can count on a defensively responsible squad led by puck moving 2-way Dman @eZDangles and DFDs @Snoop_651 and @snipefest1122 to protect their net. The rest of the squad know their roles as well. The Jets leads the league in penalty minutes taken with only 338mins and in PK% with a stunning 90.1%. The success of their team depends heavily on these 3 guys listed above as well as their Goaltender. Between both teams, Dallas has the better Dmen group overall but the fact that the Jets play a highly defensive game equalizes the comparison. The top 4 led by DFD @GonzoArmstrong , puck moving offensive dman @HoPeLeSs PyLoN8 along with @Big-T_757 and @bjackedson have contributed greatly to their team's success. They should be good enough to shutdown the Jets on their rare 5-on-5 offensive attacks but they'll need to work on their PK because a PK% of 77.5% will hurt them badly. 3. GOALTENDING: Advantage Winnipeg LGHL season 2's cinderella team have 2 hot goaltenders in @nochance85 and @bobbatta . Nochance has been playing amazingly good all season and should be getting the start in this series. The Jets goalie will need to stay sharp and focused because the rival's forwards will be cycling in their zone all game, every games. They also won't hesitate to wrap around and force passes in the slot. Allowing a weak goal is not an option. Even if @Irishsean has better statistics, goaltender @DJtml should get the start for Dallas in this series. He'll need to make the key saves on the PK and also when his defence let breakaways and 2-on-1s. He'll need to keep his head in the game as he shouldn't be too busy on 5-on-5 and could get cold quick. 4. ECU POOL: Equal Both teams doesn't have much quality players in their respective AHL teams but Winnipeg could call up RW @oriolerules44 for a game if they feel the need to have a better than average offensive winger. 5. FACEOFF: LD @HoPeLeSs PyLoN8 (27GP - 23PTS - 7G - 16A - +-14 - 50S - 14S% - 8PIM - 199HITS) VS RD @eZDangles (27GP - 26PTS - 8G - 18A - +-13 - 40S - 20S% - 27PIM - 35HITS) Outside of the hitting game in which @HoPeLeSs PyLoN8 leads the league with 199 hits, these 2 defenseman have quite a similar playstyle despite the fact that they are confined to different roles. Both of them are puck moving offensive oriented and defensively responsible Dmen who leads their respective D squad in the goal column. These breakout artists have unparalleled puck control abilities, a great vision and a lot of patience. They are also beautiful skaters when they need to carry the puck. They tend to do too much from time to time but that's the price you have to pay when you want the whole package dman. Open up and watch a Dallas or Winnipeg stream during this series and see for yourself! 6. CONCLUSION: Just like most of the other series, both teams should play the early games of the serie with nervosity. The Jets will be the team taking the hardest hit because they depend on a very fragile strategy to win. This series will begin with one or two high scoring game(s) then will get more and more close and low scoring as it goes on. The Dallas Stars should be able to overcome the adversity and win the series in 6 games with the huge help of the home ice advantage (last line up change). Home ice advantage will be a key factor because Winnipeg lacks depth.
