The fact that the NHL is trying to get involved in this is great news , ex pros are buying franchises and major pro sports commissioners wants a piece of the action . I'm not saying to quit your day job yet but if our stupidity can finally payoff in a couple a years that would be awesome . For some reason I feel that this news have passed unnoticed considering the importance of the announcement.
Yes he's talking about Esport passing the real NHL as the 4 major sports behind football baseball and basketball , this shit is growing fast so lets hope we can put egos aside and be ready to jump on the bandwagon when the time comes. http://www.tsn.ca/bettman-floats-concept-of-eleague-1.709131
Good idea, problem is that this game is by far the worst NHL game I've ever played. You can't go into Esports with such a broken game and expect it to last. If they come out with an average NHL game, then we can talk Esports.
Sadly they won't make anything half decent until they get another company that competes with them for us. That won't happen either. So it's either we stop buying the garbage game or we just deal with how terrible it will be. Since NHL 14, every game made has been worse and worse. Them making a decent NHL 18 game seems unlikely. We should be more concerned for an actually game than Esports at this point. Yes it's rude and harsh for me to say but it is true.
They definitely need to improve the game but Esports won't happen till NHL 19 or 20 so they have 2 to 3 years to work their butt off to make a decent game with good servers.
So not to be that_guy but as a former esports professional I would tell you 9 times out of 10 the original developers of any successful game completely failed at making it truly competitive. And that all of the major 3 (Counter Strike, Killing Floor, Dota) were mods, as in, shaped by the community. I know there's a 0% chance to mod NHL, but that's always been the followed path. To my knowledge there's never been a major franchise game handed over to just the competitive community. I do think the community has spoken that we undervalued the arcade mechanics in that, they don't have to be flawless but be consistent with control... something I feel the past two years of this game has grossly lacked. If they continue to ignore the dedicated audience, this most recent wave of players, will putter out much like many of us 09'ers have.
Couldn't agree more , this is where the real work will be put in to find a pure 5 others that you can showcase greatness with.
How about LG getting a Esport Franchise ? not talking about NHL only but gaming in general rocket league smite call of duty halo NBA 2k rainbow six etc.. Can you build a franchise from the ground up ? I believe we have a few prodigies among us couple of thousand Gamers on this site . How about 500 shares at $ 100 a piece for LG members to buy = 50 000 $ for 50 % of the franchise The other 50 % goes to Tris and Brody with them finding corporate sponsorship for 50 000 $ Is 100 000 $ enough ? just speculating here Is this too far-fetched ?
I'm only one person so I don't mean shit but if there's nothing significant to play for next year I'm not buying NHL 18, even if the game is decent. I haven't played NHL since a few days before Christmas and I honestly haven't had the itch to play once. Although, that could be because of me knowing how bad the current game is... I just don't care anymore like I used to. The game isn't even close to fun. The developers are absolutely clueless and some of the gamechangers are a bunch of clueless buffoons. There is no hope.
Without putting 1 ounce of effort in looking it up, I will venture to say that it is MUCH MUCH MUCH more complicated than that. You would have to register that franchise/new company. It becomes a business, you can't just throw money at it and call it a day.
If Real Money is at stake and EA at all feels this community is positioned to take a piece of it, you will see a legal shit storm hit to end all shit storms. EA is only your friend to the extent that it lines their pocket, or at least, doesn't so much as disturb a single coin in theirs.
I think a crossover between Xbox PlayStation and PC can skyrocket Esports http://metro.co.uk/2016/03/14/microsoft-to-allow-xbox-one-and-ps4-gamers-to-play-together-5752305/
Its still up to EA to program this, which is not easy, For example how would you invite someone into your game on a different system. Can they voice communicate, if so how, can they in anyway send messages Doubtful we'll ever see this
Cross platform gaming would defeat the purpose of having multiple consoles to choose from. At that point you might as well buy a PC and choose whichever controller you like better.
