The James Norris Memorial Trophy, or simply the Norris Trophy, is awarded every season to the LGHL's top "defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position".

The S28 winner is selected by the S28 LGHL awards committee after careful analysis and research. The thread is a community vote which in factored into the final decision, however, the most community votes does not guarantee the official winner. The trophy was presented in 1953 by the four children of the late James Norris in memory of the former owner-president of the Detroit Red Wings.

The trophy is named in honour of James E. Norris, owner of the Detroit Red Wings from 1932 to 1952. The trophy was first awarded at the conclusion of the 1953–54 NHL season.

Bobby Orr of the Boston Bruins won the award for a record eight consecutive seasons (1968–75).

Doug Harvey and Nicklas Lidstrom won it seven times in their careers and Ray Bourque won it five times during his career; between them, those four players have won nearly half the Norris Trophies awarded to date. The Boston Bruins have won the most Norris Trophies with 14. The Montreal Canadiens are second with 12.

Please vote for 1 of the 4 finalists:

    1.) :team15:@Odieeeeee 23-1-0 43P 1G 42A+64 10PIM 205GA 113TA (-92) 36 GOALS ALLOWED 4 SOs 61.1SOS

Odie has the best record, points, assists, +/-, SOS, and record against playoff teams out of all the finalists. A dominate season for Odie and arguably his best season ever in LG. I think Odie has received a lot of unfair opinions about why he doesn't deserve the norris because of how good his line is but his stats justify the respect. One thing that really stands out to me in researching was how Odie played top lines all season. Does the best statistical defensemen and most talented defensemen deserve the Norris? Vote!

    2.) :team27:@T1 Clamps 25-1-2 35P 3G 32A +43 12PIM 154GA 84TA (-70) 42 GOALS ALLOWED 4 SOs 48.2SOS
    Against Playoff Teams, Record 11-0-2

Clamps had a terrific season and was the anchor for the best team in the East. He has the most wins followed with strong statistics across the board. In most seasons, his stat line wins the Norris. I just think if you take away Clamps from the Islanders compared to taking away Odie from the Sharks, you may notice a large dropoff for the Islanders. So should Clamps be the Norris winner due to value that he offered to the success of his team winning? Vote!

    3.) :team6:@goonderk 21-4-1 39P 8G 31A +44 4PIM 127GA 93TA (-37) 61 GOALS ALLOWED 2 SOs 47.4SOS

Goonderk's season just makes you want to smile. Nice to see a newer guy in the LG community rise to the top and really help his team compete. We all know Columbus was not a cup favorite this season like the other three finalists' teams. However, when you have players maximizing their rookie contract like Goonderk, special things can happen. The argument for goonderk to win the norris is his team relied on him heavily - for goals, points, penalty kill, and not giving the puck away. He had to play a near perfect game for his line to win, and most nights, that is exactly what he did. Columbus had the most 1 goal wins in the LGHL this season. Is the Norris winner the player who can bring bring his team from a borderline playoff team to a 110 point season? Vote!

    4.) :team75:@Gwan 22-5-0 29P 3G 26A +50 10PIM 171GA 101TA (-70) 32 GOALS ALLOWED 10 SOs 50.0SOS
    Against Playoff Teams, Record 11-3-0

As Gwan's teammate, I learned the selfless devotion that he has towards winning. To the start the season, he played with a bunch of 500k players on the third line in order to mold his team to his liking. He wanted to see how they played in order to trade and acquire new talent to rearrange the chemistry. He cared about the long-term objective- winning the cup. Gwan played the most playoff teams of the finalists and had 10 SHUTOUTS! Gwan showed his ability to shut down forwards all season with only 32 goals allowed. Does the most dominate defender in terms of goals allowed and shutouts deserve the Norris? Vote!
