Hell of a season by the bruins. What individual regular season award should someone on your team have won?

Ding was nominated for the Selke but no one else was a finalist and dings was def behind D4N and PTP from a Selke statistical standpoint

The fact that @lx JoneZ xl didn't win the Vezina is a shame. He won Vancouver countless 1 and 2 goal games and even in most of his losses only allowed 1 or 2 goals, saving Vancouver from a lot of potentially embarrassing games that could have been 8-0 blowouts. He is the reason that Vancouver even made it to the postseason and in my opinion should have been a finalist for the Hart instead of awarding it to a player who apparently wasn't valuable enough to even make the playoffs. Vancouver's highest scoring forward doesn't even crack the first two pages of the stats, which shows that his team was not that strong yet he was still a rock in net and gave Vancouver a chance to win every game.

You're right it's all about the numbers. And the numbers show Jonez's defense was way worse then yours yet somehow you won the Vezina with only slightly better numbers in net.

Aye Keeks won the Hart and the Ted Lindsey and didn't even get his team in the playoffs.

And Dings gets downright snubbed from ALL voting for both the Selke and Jack Adams. Yet 4thline get all the credit for basically just porting over last seasons Manitoba.

    The real question is...

How can anyone take these awards seriously?

Did you watch all of his games.

This is an award based on the best statical season. Taco had the best GAA and SV%, the 2 most important stats for Goalies, oh yeah and Wins. On top of that he broke the all time SV% record.

Jones is a great G and had a great season. Why should he win it, bc his fwds weren't high scoring? Maybe they're are very defensive minded.

Van scored 146 Goals, allowed 183 Goals

Chi scored 260 Goals, allowed 124 goals

So do we punish taco for his fwds scoring? Do we reward Jones for his fwds not scoring? Do we all of the sudden think CHIs defense was stacked and VANP was not?

    Chi D
Nene - top player, playing D for 2nd time in LG

Fox - first season ever on D

Spezza - need I say more

Supple carrots - 500K 3rd liner for multiple seasons

Zwiggy - Calder runner up came, 2nd season ever in the nhl

    Duganator - goalie playing D

    VAN D
FlowMasterJoe - former Norris winner, considered a top dman

KBSmith - 1st line dman for multiple seasons now playing with his Dpartner in Bert

DaveyDoughtnut - 3 straight seasons of 15-18 wins playing with his club Dpartner Seabass

Seabass - back to back 16 win seasons playing with his club d partner Davey

Wolfy - 2nd season in the nhl (traded for Benny El Guapo to help upgrade on Offense)

    ll72ll - 1st season in the nhl

Feel free to elaborate more with some statistics and other things besides just saying he kept them in games that would have been blowouts. There's no way for us to measure that but we're always open to ideas or counter argument. Were always looking for more committee members feel free to apply if you'd like to join we'd be more than happy to have you.

1.) Getting the Hart for not making the playoffs doesnt matter if they competed. A player can only play max 28 games of a teams 82. This isnt like real life where theyre involved in every single game. He had the highest Points in standings % of his teams points compared to all the nominees. He had arguably the weakest linemates of all of the nominees and he produced at a fantastic rate on a team that finished dead last the prior season. He not only won the committee vote but he won the community vote as well

    2.) Dings got downright snubbed, hmmm . . .

A.) Jack Adams - REGULAR SEASON AWARD, nothing to do with your guys post season success which has been amazing
S30 BOS finished with 114 Points (2nd in the east, 2nd in DIV, 4th in the league)
S29 BOS finished with 109 Points (3rd in the east, 1st in DIV, 5th in the league)

How that is Jack Adams worthy compared to 4th, who youre calling out for brining up an AHL team and finishing 2nd in the league in points behind CHI, ahead of BOS and doing it by bringing up an AHL team is impressive. He also won the committee and community vote

B.) Dings for Selke, he received 4 2nd place votes.

    Selke Finalists:

    @PTP: 10-1-2 vs playoff teams // 13-2 vs non playoff teams = 23-3-2 .91gaa 54.5FO% 66TA 263GA (-197)

    @D4D USA : 14-4 vs playoff teams // 10-0 vs non playoff teams = 24-4 1.57gaa 50.9FO% 83TA 293GA (-210)

    @Givemedings16: 10-3-2 vs playoff teams // 11-0-2 vs non playoff teams = 21-3-4 1.67gaa 54FO% 101TA 336 GA (-235)

It was a tight race, but from these numbers, plus some other factors (OZE, PPK, Giveaway/Takaway Ratio) and GAA being the main factors, Dings doesnt beat either of those 2. Again he received some votes, but not enough to win. I dont see how he could based on the numbers

    3.)
    The real question is...

How can anyone take these awards seriously?

Feel free to join the committee, we posted it all you have to do is apply and there were multiple Nominee and Finalists threads for you guys to make your case for your teammates. Sorry you waited until the winners were announced to all of the sudden have input with no numbers or anything to back it besides bias opinion

Lou i really love the media you guys put out and i respect you and your team's decisions however what you just wrote about Vancouver's D being better is ridiculous. I never said that Vancouver's defense was weak, i said their forwards and team as a WHOLE is weak. You are a great player yourself Lou and you are smart enough to know that the better your forwards are, the more the puck is in the other team's zone.

As for stats, Taco played in 5 games where he faced 4 or less shots, while Jonez played in 0. As the number of shots kept rising, you could see that Taco played in more games where he faced fewer shots. In games where goalies faced 5 or fewer shots, Taco had 8 while Jonez had 3. In games where goalies faced 7 shots or less, Taco played in 15 of those while Jonez played in 8. Moving to shutout stats, Taco had 11 while Jonez had 8, however during shutout games, Jonez faced 90 shots while taco faced 76, showing that Taco was dressed for more games that boosted his GAA and shutout stats by facing fewer shots leading to a greater chance at a shutout.

Jonez faced MORE shots in FEWER shutout games, which actually showed he worked for his shutouts, including two where he faced 15 shots. Taco only faced more than 10 shots twice in his 11 shutout games. Jonez faced 10 or more shots in half of his shutouts.

This is why GAA is a vague stat that does not do justice in this league. A goaltender can face zero shots (and in tacos case 4 or less shots FIVE times) and have a perfect GAA. Does that make for a vezina caliber goalie Lou? "A trophy awarded to the goaltender adjudged to be the best at his position" not "a goaltender that faces 4 shots from the blueline and is awarded a shutout" .... anybody can do that but not many people can play on a team as weak as Jonez's and still hold an 84% while allowing less than 2 goals a game.

Hell, I could even make this case for Smitty who faced more than 10 shots on 6/14 of his shutouts and only faced less than 4 shots twice. If you have any other stats to show me i am more than happy to see them as i feel there is more to the vezina in LG hockey than just who had a higher Sv% and GAA.

    1. You're going to pick FIVE GAMES in terms of shots faced when we as goalies play 50 a season? I played 52, Jonez 48.

    2. Shots per game averages are really considered when looking at one's overall season. Granted the shutout totals were lower, but when looking at the overall shots per game total I faced 9.9 while Jonez faced 10.6, both of which are in the lowest 15. If you've been around here you'd notice that generally the vezina nominees are generally some of the lower shots per game total goalies in the league each season.

There's a reason the shutouts are split in terms of against playoff and non playoff teams.

If you're going to put your Vezina award down to 11 games out of my 52 or 8 games out of Jonez's 48 then you make absolutely zero sense as you're not looking at the overall work put in.

    Edit: GG Boston

Great Job Lou and everyone else who took their free time to do these, it certainly unfortunate that everyone couldnt win the awards, lots of great players had great seasons and everyone nominated would have been a good choice for their awards, but in the end there is only 1 winner. congrats to those who did get the nod and congrats to those who didnt win but still had great seasons

    1. Those 5 games (plus those other 10 games you faced less than 7 shots) really inflate your GAA to look like it is better than you physically are.
    2. No shit because youre facing less shots which means less chances to be scored on.
In regard to your last sentence: This is what you arent getting. a) he played on a worse team than you. b) you have more wins because you got carried by your Elite/On-Fire superstar team where you faced less shots. c) Your GAA was thus inflated by these games where you faced less shots. Both of your Sv%'s were basically equal, thus since he played in a more challenging environment he is the better goaltender. This is irrelevant to the argument at hand, but he is historically a better goalie than you and for him to put up the stats he did was more impressive than your season. You had a great season none the less and i congratulate you on your award and your records. Have a good summer.

Those are great in depth stats.

However, you selected 5 games and then some shit out games which essentially showed he faced maybe 2 or 3 more shots a shut out. That isn't really that big of a difference. You're entire argument seems to be based on "shots." You also keep saying 5 shots from the blue line. Were you in those games? Did you watch all of those games? How do you know they were 2 or 3 breakaways or a couple 1 timers. If you watch teams like BBB in ESHL they get OTA all the time but counter attack and have great scoring chances. He could of faced very difficult shots, those extra shots Jones and Smitty faced could have just been extra turds or rebound shots as well. There is no way to tell. So your shots logic is flawed in that sense.

On top of that I didn't at VAN D was bad I compared the 2 D cores. The fwds scoring more doeany necessarily mean they had the puck longer than the other team every game or most of the time but it's a good measurement. However each game is different. CHI was 4th in the league in TOA with 6:46 a game while VAN was at 5:37. Each line plays different styles as well. Some lines play tight D and counter, others control the puck and move it around until something opens up but dont get a lot of shots and finally some lines just shoot everything.

In conclusion you'd have to go through each players game, grab the TOA from every game, the line they played with and against, find a recording of every shot on goal and count the scoring chances if you'd want to do it your way. However, that is not possible with the tools and stats we have and every game not streamed

The awards criteria was posted and up for debate. The biggest factors voted on and mainly asked for by goalies were

    1.) SV% heaviest weight
    2.) GAA
    3.) Shots
    4.) Wins
    5.) Games Played

    Jones
    84 SV%
    1.61GAA
    507 Shotz
    29 Wins
    48 games played

    Taco
    85 SV% (1st in league)
    1.42 (1st in league)
    494 Shots
    39 Wins (1st in league)
    50 games played

The other things were looked at but the heaviest weighted things gave taco the majority of the votes. It was still a close race and all 3 Gs received votes but taco earned it. No one deserves an award, you gotta earn the award with your play and stats
