*This statistic seems to be less telling towards FWDs since most of them have good records and good point production whereas for the Dmen it seems to lead to bad records, (negative) +/- and being on a bad team.

Turning the puck over on offense doesn't hurt as bad bc it usually is in the neutral zone (trying to gain the zone) or O zone (trying to create space or attack the net) and you have the D behind you (and Center if youre a winger) still.

Whereas turning it over on D, usually means you or your D partner are the last one back. A Dman turnover usually occurs in the D zone (against the forecheck) or Neutral zone (on breakout passes and entries trying to break the trap) which usually leads to scoring chances for the other team. Another noticeable thing for Dmen is most of these guys are offensive minded Dmen who have the puck in the o zone a lot and carry it or switch with their fwd which is where most of their giveaways likely occur.

Giveaways can be a misleading stat in this game. For example, I know people, including myself, that just sauce it out of the zone on the pk if under pressure, because it’s a fairly quick out and it’s accurate. So you can accumulate quite a bit of giveaways if there’s a lot of pk in a game by doing that. Same thing with just putting the puck deep. In real life it’s not a giveaway, but in this game both these scenarios are giveaways

 

if i compare by exemple: like odiee . its normal for him to get so many giveway because he is like the erik karlsonn of the LG . he like control the puck and have the puck in the neutral zone to enter the puck in the offensive zone im not surprise he is the D with the most giveway. thats why this stats can be really wrong . if you trying to create some thing in offense you will get so much giveway . but you will create so many chance to scores too. thats why this stats doesnt mean nothing for me. my point is

Giveaways is the only stat people are in 100% control of themselves.

Saucing it out on the pk kinda sucks it counts at times but sometimes it is a bad play and you should shoot it out or flip it instead.

It's a brutally accurately recorded stat.
