so we are starting to wrap up what has been an interesting season and to be quite honest a extremely boring one at that. with all of the aids that this game brings, they added the ability to blue screen on demand essentially which made it even worse than it already was, YIKES.

With that being said here are your Week 8 Rankings:

    Playoff Races

    Western Conference:

    Central Divisional Matchup Possibility:

    2. Dallas Stars: 39-27-6 (84 points)
    3. St. Louis Blues: 35-27-11 (81 points)
    ————————————————————
    9. Minnesota Wild: 36-33-4 (76 points)

Colorado has locked up first place before the last week even started. This leaves the divisional series to be decided on the final week.

There is a very real possibility that whoever finishes 4th in the Central and doesn’t land in this series will miss playoffs. Right now, Minnesota will have to make up 5 points on St. Louis to have a shot at the post season. The difference of these two teams is the 11 overtime losses for the Blues. If they end the season tied in points, Minnesota will likely pass St. Louis due to having more total wins.

    Pacific Divisional Matchup Possibility:

    2. San Jose Sharks: 46-21-6 (98 points)
    3. Los Angeles Kings: 42-22-9 (93 points)
    ————————————————————-
    7. Edmonton Oilers: 44-25-4 (92 points)

A tight race for the second and third spots in the Pacific heat up this week with San Jose holding a comfy 5 point lead over LA for the second spot.

If San Jose can keep their spot up top, there will be a two team race for the last divisional spot between Edmonton and Los Angeles. The winner of the two will play San Jose while the other will play either Colorado or Calgary.

    Wildcard Possibilities:

The two teams who win the wildcard will play either Colorado or Calgary. One team from the Pacific will win the 7th spot while everyone below will have a blood bath fighting for the 8th spot.

    8. Vancouver Canucks: 36-29-7 (79 points)
    —————————————————————
    9. Minnesota Wild: 32-33-4 (76 points)
    10. Anaheim Ducks: 32-36-5 (69 points)
    11. Vegas Golden Knights: 32-37-4 (68 points)
    12. Nashville Predators: 31-36-6 (68 points)
    13. Arizona Coyotes: 29-36-8 (66 points)

There is no guessing who will come out the winner but their playoffs start now. Vancouver holds a slight 3 point lead for now but anything can happen.

    Eastern Conference:

    Metro Divisional Series Possibilities:

    1. New York Rangers: 51-12-9 (111 points)
    ————————————————————-
    2. Washington Capitals: 52-18-2 (106 points)
    3. New Jersey Devils: 47-18-7 (101 points)

All season this race has been tight. The winner of this division will get the reward of playing the second wild card most likely while the other two teams get to play each other in the first round.

This week is the Metro’s 10 game week. If any team slips up, it could drop them into a tough first round match up.

    Atlantic Divisional Series Possibilities:

    1. Toronto Maple Leafs: 49-17-6 (104 points)
    —————————————————————
    2. Buffalo Sabres: 45-19-8 (98 points)
    3. Montreal Canadiens: 42-24-6 (90 points)
    —————————————————————
    7. Boston Bruins: 38-24-10 (86 points)
This division can look much different after week 9. One bad week by any team and everyone can be in different spots.

As of now, Toronto is in great shape to win the division and play a wild card team. Buffalo is the main contender for the division but will likely finish in second. This leaves Montreal and Boston getting aquatinted for the final divisional spot.

If sleeves (Boston) looses this divisional spot to Silky (Montreal) after all the hate sleeves has thrown, you can put money on sleeves not hearing the end of it in the shout box from Silky.
The loser of this will likely play Toronto first round.

    Wildcard Possibilities:

    3. Montreal Canadians: 42-24-6 (90 points)
    —————————————————————
    7. Boston Bruins: 38-24-10 (86 points)
    8. Columbus Blue Jackets: 37-26-9 (83 points)
    —————————————————————
    9. New York Islanders: 36-27-9 (81 points)
    10. Detroit Redwings: 36-27-9 (81 points)
    11. Florida Panthers: 37-29-6 (80 points)

There is only 10 points that separate 6 teams in the east. Only three spots can be granted with the final spot likely to play the Metro winner in the first round.

No one can tell who will sneak in, but with three points separating the last wild card spot and three teams not getting in, it should be an exciting race. If there is a tie at the end, it will come down to regulation wins. That could decide the final spot.

    President Trophy Candidates:

    1. New York Rangers: 111 points
    2. Calgary Flames: 107 points
    3. Washington Capitals: 101 points
    4. Toronto Maple Leafs: 104 points
    5. Colorado Avalanche: 103 points
    6. New Jersey Devils: 101 points

Not much to say here. Race is tight and anyone can slip up.

Good luck to everyone in their final week if you are looking to punch your ticket into the LGPSN Stanley Cup Finals!

A little shoutout to @crofto40, @Desjy99, @xNav61, @Cage and to the one other who asked to be unnamed for doing whats asked of you to make this happen.

Good write up. We deserve our 11th ranking after a couple of bad weeks. It would be nice to see a little more detail once we get in the playoffs and there are less teams to worry about.
