Season 9 Bill Masterton Nomination Thread

The Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the National Hockey League player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey.

In LG, this award is ideally meant for someone that has either been on the site a long time, and is generally a good influence/has a good impact in the community, or someone that had to deal with a bad situation all season and didn't complain/quit, or even embraced it and tried to improve the situation around them.

2 examples of something like this would be @G1NA 29 stepping up to own the Hurricanes after Beast quit mid-season, and kept them from forfeiting a single time the remainder of the season despite a patchwork roster that he had to try and make work.

Similarly, last season @EPICxSKILLZY had to deal with pretty much the same thing, when he stepped up to own Pittsburgh when @SKILLEDPYTHON couldn't take the heat anymore, and kept the team together for the rest of the season. On top of that, despite having multiple people quit, and being unable to maintain a full roster, Pittsburgh didn't forfeit a single game down the stretch.

Those are 2 examples but it could be someone whose consistently been on bad teams and never been toxic, stuff like that.

@joestud18 having to make Tampa the place to be even though they were a bottom feeder team.

@BakTheGreat- traded from (I believe they were) the 1st place Avs to a Canucks team that wasn’t even close to playoff contention and was a huge key in them making playoffs. Was always positive in the team chat after good or bad games and had good avail as well.

 

@ryno1354 had to put up with me as his owner and he didn’t request a trade all year.

Give this man his award now!

 

As happy as I was to help out, and proud to have been able to not FF a single game, the award is not for me. I couldn't have done it without the contribution of @Pelley_ @althewall @xOneTimer @omnicidal-havoc and their group in the AHL. They saved our season, and my butt by showing up when needed, which was more often than not.

I would be one to back @HJHF14 's nomination and say that what @BakTheGreat- did this season is crazy and deserving of this award.

 

@joestud18 Deserves this award. He had to deal with BIG WERTHY for a couple weeks who anchors everyone because of his lack of skill and uhhh heh adds quite a bit to the load

@BakTheGreat- Was the move that started the turn around for our season, and didn’t complain once when acquired. He’s got my vote.

 

I’d nominate @Novak4Prez for the award. Managed to roll with the punches of a shitty season and made things as fun as possible for players like me who were brought in for the final 3 weeks. I think it showed in our week records too as 12/26 of Tampa’s wins came in Week 7/8/9.

Built a good team on paper. The team shit the bed as a unit. Stuck with it and made it work the whole season. They were competitive and played good hockey right down to the wire. You can't ask for more out of an owner. The league needs more guys like him.
