Rule Issue regarding East vs West

    ok so obviously its a blatant issue now and something seriously needs to be done and put into the rule book as soon as possible because this is getting way to out of hand.

    the way i see it from a league perspective theres 2 options to choose from, that being:


    Option 1:

    Both teams search, once they find each other the game is played regardless of connection or regardless of anything at all. the ONLY way the game restarts is if theres an ERROR.


    Option 2:

    Home team chooses what host/connection they would like and the away team CANNOT back out unless theres an ERROR.



    this league screams sim hockey but refuses to allow home teams to have any resemblance of home ice in any way shape or form. (I.E. IRL home team gets last change and such)

    if you have any other ideas or suggestions by all means make the suggestion and we can discuss it further. This whole east vs west thing is quite ridiculous

    Home team should be able to choose their connection just like in nhl16,17,18.

    See, this is what we wanted. No way we'll ever get a rule change unless we hurt a west hosts feelings. Someone needs to come up with a rule.

    Quiet down on the argument and cast your vote above, it doesn't matter whether it was last season in the playoffs while the Isles were backing out on us for connection, or this season when we just did it to them.

    Home team = their connection. Playing on the other teams connection as the home team is the equivalent of playing game 7 of a playoff series in real life in the away arena just because the other team wants to be home.

    Obviously it is annoying when the home team backs out when they don't get their connection on the first try and what not, but it is fair for them to backout. They are the home team and they should have the option to play on their connection like home teams had in the previous NHL games on the old club challenge system.

    West line should only be a thing for your 3rd line imo. Has a team who makes up their entire 1st line with west players work in the playoffs? I see a lot of them knocked out in the 1st round or barely make it to the 2nd round and then get knocked out then. Works well for the regular season but not so well in the playoffs (maybe I'm wrong here but I believe the cup winners have had a mixture of east and west players on their top lines) so I don't know why people get so worked up about it. Yeah it sucks but it is a virtual hockey league and if you care about your record and points that bad then you might need a new hobby.

    Also, was this ever an issue on old gen? I don't ever remember people whining about connection as much or making lines based on east or west coast because they just made teams with the best possible players.

    Games never start on time as it is. So delaying a game 5-15 minutes more as the home team needs to find their precious connection is kind of bullshit. Just play it out, who the fuck cares

    Personally would rather if people just played whatever host they get on first time, people make this a bigger deal than it is plus with errors its better to just play if everyone gets in. Though I think if home team got to choose host it would bring more meaning to being the home/away team since there is a distinct advantage/disadvantage depending on that, maybe this should be looked at for NHL 20

    Home team chooses what host/connection they would like and the away team CANNOT back out unless theres an ERROR.

    Option 2 just leaves it open for people to do what New York Rangers did tonight, which is, everybody connects but then when its not their connection, just say a guy "errored" every time before the puck drops... then teams can just keep "erroring" all night. Then when a guy actually does get booted before puck drop, nobody will believe him, and teams will get penalized for no reason.

    Waiting for the Home team to search first, and then telling the other team its ok to search now, seems like a drag, especially if there are error codes. Then if Home team still doesn't get their connection for whatever reason, they get to back out until they get it?

    I am Central so I don't know what playing on a Opposite Server feels like, just seems like Option 2 has many flaws and possibilities that will drag the start of game out even further than the 5-15 minutes, like it did tonight for an 11est game, when most guys are trying to get done and go to bed.

    Option 1 is great because teams now know they can search earlier to be host, which means games can actually start on time or earlier! Solves the dragged out start times at least lol

    But good luck with either option, as both rely on teams being truthful on whether they had a guy "error" or not, which ain't going to happen. Even if you implement an automatic penalty if it is proven all 6 connected prior to the puck drop, most teams would probably take the penalty to try to get their connection on the 2nd try.

    It wasn't a thing on old gen, there were no issues with input delay back then.

    This could sound dumb, but I think just the way the current gen gameplay is built on this engine makes delay way more noticeable than old gen or on other games, I think at least on 19 the new skating helps mask it a little more than the past few NHL's
