Hello everyone, here are the final player ratings for the regular season. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_BlNqPLgb9qNtGNRA9Hq2hUlOix5_Nc_3w_aSBA6VVo/edit?usp=sharing
How does someone who is 14-14 finish as the 13th best defenseman? There's guys with losing records in the top 30. I've seen people attempt to dig deep into the metrics but this is just awful..
Records arent taken into account because that is heavily team based and every season I post the weights of each category for the community to look at and give feedback. It is the same thing as Dmen with winning records only being good because they are on good teams. I was 5th in scoring with the best record and plus minus one season but look at my stats now. I was only good because I was on the best team in the league. The way this is set up is to eliminate the if you are on a good team you are good and bad team you are bad. Hope that makes more sense.
I respect the work put into this. Can i have a quick explanation what part of my season made me #108 on the defense list?
From what I am seeing your Personal Penalty Kill is slightly under average causing you to lose a couple points but your big loss in points is coming from your total points scored. I think you have the highest goal support of anyone on defense which means you are expected to have a decent amount of points. Unfortunately you are on the lower end so you miss out some there. The last thing is takeaways are weighted decently for defensemen and you are very average there. You aren't doing bad by any means in any category but are just average in a few which is keeping you from being towards the top. If you had about 9 more points, 20 more takeaways, and 9% better on the Penalty kill, you'd easily be top 20.
