I remember playing Eashl way back in the day and it having a competitvre edge. People used to live for it, and there would be rivalry’s between teams and players. I guess my first question is, does anyone still live for it? Have we all grown up and don’t care anymore? It seems the cool thing is to not care if you win or lose now. It makes the whole experience almost boring now. Has the community gone stale and soft. Now kids make tweets if you send them a msg online, it’s pretty sad. Will we ever see this type of excitement anymore? Fast forward to 3:14. Sincerely, A curious and slightly concerned member of the community
That was when leaderboards and rankings were actually in effect and mattered. Now it’s just a few tournaments a year ran in house because there is not much of an incentive for EA to commit time and money to 500(?) viewers.
Bring back club playoffs with banners, on ice signs, rally towels. Reward clubs who win playoffs with HUT rewards etc.
The game used to be much more skill-based, the better team would win 9 times out of 10. It didn't used to feel like random bounces and bullshit would decide 70% of games. It's hard to be passionate about a game that rarely rewards good play. Good competitive online games don't base their mechanics around casual, low-skill players, and yet EA has decided to cater to those people instead. The only reason so many people still play this terrible game and series is because we love the sport of hockey.
I miss it too. If only we could go back to 360 and play the older games. Without the end of year club tournament no one will take club seriously, At least no one good also the freedom of club switching made so everyone plays with everyone now and there is no need for club loyalty. Remember when you could only switch clubs once or twice a day?
Man good point... before it felt more like an actual league and everyone had their set rosters. You had to earn your keeps and prove yourself for a spot on a good 6s team. Maybe you still need to do that now, but with everyone playing with everyone in today’s game it makes for a pasty community.
Club leaderboards grinding were the good old days.... playing club for a chance to go to vancouver made it real interesting and the top 10 teams all lived for it.
Why does that gameplay look so much more enjoyable? That’s sad and pathetic man what have they done The lack of caring for it now comes with the game being garbage.
Because it was lol. Shoot low and crash the net baby! Not to say I don’t try that stuff sometimes, but it’s a sad day for chel when that is the meta.
Kind of a rhetorical question lol, like how have they possibly gone so far backwards from the fun game they used to produce to what we have now.
Probably rhetorical again, but I think you know the an$$$wer. Small team and low sales numbers every year, so they try to appeal to the most casual audience. Little Timmy isn’t going to ask mom for the game next year if he doesn’t catch some breaks here and there to get some wins. Sad state.
