Hello friends! Last weeks power rankings stirred the pot a little bit, but now it's time to reflect on how wrong I was during the initial predictions based on previous winning percentages. I'll run down the list and enter in the current standings after week one, with a symbol relating to my original predictions. EASTERN METROPOLITAN 1. Pittsburgh Penguins ( - ) 2. New York Rangers ( - ) 3. New Jersey Devils (+2) 4. Washington Capitals (+3) 5. Carolina Hurricanes (+3) 6. Philadelphia Flyers (-3) 7. New York Islanders (-1) 8. Columbus Blue Jackets (-4) EASTERN ATLANTIC 1. Detroit Red Wings (+4) 2. Montreal Canadiens (+1) 3. Toronto Maple Leafs (-1) 4. Florida Panthers (+3) 5. Buffalo Sabres (-4) 6. Ottawa Senators (+2) 7. Tampa Bay Lightning (-1) 8. Boston Bruins (-4) WESTERN CENTRAL 1. Winnipeg Jets ( - ) 2. Nashville Predators ( - ) 3. St. Louis Blues (+3) 4. Chicago Blackhawks (-1) 5. Colorado Avalanche (+2) 6. Dallas Stars (-1) 7. Minnesota Wild (-3) WESTERN CENTRAL 1. Los Angeles Kings (+5) 2. Vancouver Canucks ( - ) 3. Arizona Coyotes (+1) 4. Anaheim Ducks (+3) 5. San Jose Sharks (-4) 6. Edmonton Oilers (+2) 7. Vegas Golden Knights (-4) 8. Calgary Flames (-3) Well... We see a lot of green and red, which means my week one predictions were basically completely wrong. Good news is that some of these teams had something to prove and came out playing their best hockey. In this section of the write-up, I'll conclude by discussing the most noticeable rises and collapses from last weeks rankings. MOST NOTICEABLE RISE: Los Angeles Kings - This Kings are led by Tommy, Thoma and CJ which makes me feel like they're a reincarnation of the Hartford Wolf Pack from Season 7. They're a young team, which had me doubting their success - however they have shown this week what they can do by gaining 5 power ranking spots in the Central. It'll be exciting to examine what this younger team can do, while witnessing how management holds up for the Kings. MOST NOTICEABLE FALL: Boston Bruins - I selected the Bruins solely because they sit 8th in the Atlantic... That's behind Stashes Sens if anyone needed me to break that down a bit more. The team was built majorly from an Xbox point of view by Jakoo, and hasn't had quite the bite everyone expected. If I were a betting man which I am, I would say the Bruins step it up this week and raise a few spots for next weeks rankings. The team played in the Atlantic vs Atlantic showdown this week which could be the reason they had a rough time. The Bruins will have to learn how to beat their divisional rivals in order to succeed this season, however there is only one direction from here and that is up! Thank you and see you all next week. Cheers,
