With NHL 19 winding down, we finish another season - reflecting on how the current game was and how we hope it might get better. NHL 19 was a good game for the most part, it felt like it moved in right direction. BUT soon it will be 10 years since the release of NHL 2K10.. and after watching this I'm feelin a little robbed of some little features that are missing from the current gen. Yeah compared to now this game looks a bit clunky and awkward at times.. but imagine 10 years down the line how much it could have changed.

If you arent interested in the history aspect and just want to see the highlights/differences then move forward to 9:30.

The 2K series had the best faceoff mechanics out there. I don't see how EA never took note and tried to improve on it.

Big fan of reverse hits, fighting for pucks, the goalie IQ, the shot blocking, and the shots from the knees or falling. No idea why this can't be incorporated somehow, being bumped and now you can't pass, chop, shoot or anything is brutal lol. If EA could only come up with a way to incorporate being bumped and even when the puck comes off your player having a awareness to make a play on the lose puck. Great video! Really highlights the small things, thoroughly enjoyed

What I feel was the dagger that killed them was #1 the Skill Stick and #2 EASHL/Drop In/Team Play. Adding this to NHL in 09 was an absolute game changer. EA does not own rights to NHL licensing as some people might think, so it's up for grabs. But the market is small. I don't anticipate anything soon. I noticed the faceoffs look nice. And why not add kicking people from the draw? My big thing is how much nicer the presentation is. 2k always had the best presentation. I'd like to see a lot of this little stuff in the game, the simple stuff.

Agreed on the dagger. I had both games at the time and EA was trending upward. It added a whole different dimension when playing but 2K def had better presentation and atmosphere. 2K also was good in that you needed to actually make plays to score instead of just getting bumped or bumping someone off improperly. As far as the faceoffs go, I think adding that old school 2K system would add so much more to EASHL than most realize. I used to play C a lot back in the day and I was damn good at it when it was solely timing based. Having something like this would require more skill out of the player and kicking someone out the draw can create better/worse scenarios for teams playing.
