I think if you wanna fight for less than 82 games or less than 32 teams, you're probably wasting your energy.

I think LG is married to the idea of it being a simulation league no matter what so I don't think there's any convincing them of change there.

It’s not LG it’s just NHL in general that has become stale.

2 line team or removing teams will never happen. The league wants more players

I think the availability people are required to give needs to be higher.. and people not showing for games needs to be punished more then it is currently.

The LGHL has not become stale, in fact LG has been the only thing keeping the NHL franchise relevant for me over the last 10+ seasons, and I'd bet many other players in LG feel the same way. The obvious fact is that the continuously shitty NHL game that EA puts out has made the game in general become stale.

That being said. LG has left the door open for a lot of rightful criticism. The inconsistent rulings have been plaguing this league for seasons. People/managers fought for stricter punishments for rule-breakers, but the league has gone completely overboard with their punishments. Mandatory $100 buy-outs for anything other than tag-sharing/second tagging/serious threats is an absolute joke and makes the league look insanely greedy. Banning players who had no complaints filed on them is an absolute joke (unless the team they were on had incompetent management who received bans themselves).

With what JJ says about the league wanting more players is true, but they continue to make poor decisions to alienate managers and remove players from the league for minor infractions. The two-line league or removing teams are terrible ideas that will never happen.

If the league really wants more players, why would we go to a 3-3-3 schedule that will lose plenty of players throughout the league and why are we still giving out unnecessary mandatory ban buyouts?

What you and many people don’t understand is, the issue generally isn’t that people don’t want to play for certain owners. It’s that playing for those owners means playing with terrible people.

I have never had an issue playing for an unknown owner as long as they know what they’re doing. The issue is, many of these unknown owners who come up from the AHL don’t know what they’re doing. Many of the new owners make the exact same mistake every single season. They finally get owner in the NHL and bring their AHL buddies with them. They bid on guys who have had good AHL seasons and think they’ll do good in the NHL. And then one good player goes for 10 mil to that team filled with AHLers and you wonder why they don’t want to be there.

Now, I’m not saying this is what happened in your case or this happens with every new owner. But this happens way too often. New owners are just thrown in and have no idea who the good players are aside from a few top names.

I can understand from this point of view, but nonetheless it still creates the mantra of tier 1 or even 2 players that don't wanna play. Or give that owner one week and then they quit or cancer there way off the team anyway. I bid on briere who did give me a chance. Lost an overtime game and requested a trade immediately at the end of week 3. Neither here or there, but the mantra is what keeps many AHL players from moving up or coming back. I have 4 full nhl seasons all losing ones and I realize im the AHL'er that "doesn't belong" and that's fine. But I have had a ton of success in the AHL level and in management so I do know what im doing when running teams, however unless the NHL fixes the competitiveness or figures out a solution to help out "new" owners this stigma will always exist and lack the competitiveness and balance that I imagine you and many other top guys are looking for.

To add to Girgs point, nobody has ever necessarily enjoyed playing with bad players but I think part of the reason this seems worse recently has a lot to do with the style of play you need to be effective at this game, and the chemistry/timing required compared to older generations of the game.

Guys getting overpaid isn't new, bad teams aren't new, and guys being overpaid and placed on bad teams certainly isn't new. What's changed in my opinion is that there's a lot less that an individual can do to impact the game, and the resulting frustration makes people less willing and less patient with teammates they perceive to be the problem.

I know this is not something many will support BUT,

In my view maybe try a 4th line in the N(Ik there may be the feeling that there isn't enough talent for it), but what it will do is reward the managers who actually put time into the league and scouting guys because you can't just stack 2 lines and sui a 3rd and 4th. It would create a new dynamic for the league and maybe bring up some fresh faces teams might be surprised by. Also it would emphasize depth a little more, which could help even out teams a little more at least during the regular season.

Max of 6 games a week? First and Second lines would benefit. 3rd liners would see actual 3rd line games.

If you want a more competitive NHL, a 2 line team might work, but the 3rd line as to play somewhere...
Maybe adding a new league could help, like KHL because a lot of players are AHL
calibers, but they either end in NHL or CHL...
That league could have different game times to allow players that normally cant play normally or different days.

CHL barely has any TCs, especially on defense/goalie. This has been an issue all season with people wanting to remove the ECHL to create more skill and increase TC size. 3rd lines in the NHL would go to the AHL. 3rd lines in the AHL to the CHL. 3rd lines in the CHL to TC.

Like someone above said though, the 2 line idea prob won't ever even be considered.

    1. Players are too entitled, management constantly try to screw other teams/bend rules, bogs sometimes get it wrong (but way less often than people complain about).

    2. NHL series has been a chore to play last few years cause skill gap keeps lowering, and it's mostly trap and RNG, and at least one person bitching about connection every night. Imagine the last two year if LT wasn't a thing? (Hint: NHL 21)

    3. Some scheduling overlaps (less now) has caused frustrations

    4. Free tournaments with prize money, and you can pick your own players (even banned lg players) -- rounding back up to point #1.

And the circle of life continues
