S13 Metropolitan Division Rankings

Hi Guys! I'm back again to rattle people up at the start of the season by giving my much-valued opinion on how every teams roster has shaped up post-bidding. There were a ton of new owners assigned to the NHL this season, so it definitely made bidding an interesting time. I noticed a few awesome steals and a few massive overpays. Others have commented on the contracts in bidding, so I won't really go into details on that.

These posts will be split into rankings by each division. There is a lot of teams to rank, so expect it to take a day or two to get all of these divisions out. To begin, I'm going to start with the Metropolitan Division.

Metropolitan Division

1. Carolina Hurricanes

Why Ranked #1?: The owner duo of Josh and Desjy is the best owner duo in the league. In plain honesty, it would just be stupid to estimate Josh' team out of the top 3. I know it happened last season, but I have to say that was quite a different Metropolitan division. His top line is shaped to be one of the best in the league, and his depth is quite awesome as well. I'm going to be on the lookout for this Canes team throughout the season.

Why Ranked #2?: I know... I know. This one is hard. I always tend to rank my team quite low at the start of the season, simply because I want you all to underestimate it... But this is the first season I'm coming out of bidding extremely confident. I love all of these guys and am looking forward to giving you all a tough match. My third line has some new faces on it, but I believe that the D-Pairing will be one to look out for.

3. Pittsburgh Penguins

Why Ranked #3?: Personally, I think @Jlm1410 always builds some pretty solid teams. He has some amazing forward depth here which can take them decently far, but his one weakness is on the back-end. Defensively, the Penguins may struggle which was similar to what happened to them last season. By saying that, I believe in Jlm's management abilities to find a way to improve that defensive core, and he has the forward depth to do it.

4. New Jersey Devils

Why Ranked #4?: Aali didn't 100% know his third line just yet, but other then that his team looks to be pretty solid. He has a solid 2nd line with Nelly - Tread - Parihse, and he also has a pretty stellar first line featuring McLxvin. It'll be interesting seeing Aali not play west this season, but I definitely think they edge out Philly due to their Defense being a smidge better and their forwards being a touch deeper.

5. Philadelphia Flyers

Why Ranked #5?: Philly and New Jersey in my opinion are very equal teams. Philly has the ability to have two solid forward lines with Willee and Kush centering them, but they also have a bit of a risk by doing that. Other than Kush on the 2nd line, it's basically a third line. I don't think Kush will last playing on a line with those players, and if he doesn't then Philly will lose all of it's depth. Their other weakness is their defense which will make it difficult to compete. Keep in mind, defense is thin this season.

6. New York Islanders

Why Ranked #6?: To start, Skoden-Scy-Jakoo is obviously the first line and not the second, even if they're west... but anyways we'll begin. The Isles have a similar problem to a lot of teams. They don't have a lot of Defense. Jakoo, Skoden and Scy will all have an awesome season together, but the Isles season will depend on if they can pull west in their west games. Canada-West doesn't seem to work anymore, which is what the majority of their west line is made up of. It'll be interesting to see if Bonwl and Gaming can prove me wrong and do some good things this season. Also, I love and miss you Krofto baby. @Gamingfreak911 I love how you actually picked up the G who played unreal against us that one night.

7. Columbus Blue Jackets

Why Ranked #7?: This team was a tough team to rank. I definitely don't think they're a top 3 team in this division, but I could also see them climbing the rankings to do a lot better than 7th. Prom is an underrated D-man who doesn't get a lot of appreciation in this league, however their first line seems a little bit weaker than others in this division. I think that CBJ does have quite a bit of depth though which could really help them out.
