What build do you use? (Goalies)

Seeing as you guys seem to really enjoy the goalie content, I decided to make this post as a discussion piece to talk about what build everyone is running. If you could put your height, weight, followed by traits used and why that would be greatly appreciated!

My build currently is as follows:
Butterfly
6'4 199
Down Low 2, Quick Recovery 2, 1 on 1 Brick Wall
- I run down low 2 mainly to try and nullify fivehole goals, quick recovery 2 to be fast, and 1 on 1 Brick wall because I'm selfish and want to give myself the best chance possible to save breakaways.

- Idk I just copied Jonez's build after he cooked our shit in the playoffs

 

6'3'' 188 lbs.
Hybrid
Primary Trait: empty
Secondary Trait: empty
Specialty: Penalty Kill Energy

I used to run with traits on and there doesn't seem to be a difference to me. I feel like you cut down one area to boost another, then try to fix it with the second trait. Figure if you just leave them alone, its almost the same.

I feel confident with my down low save ability including five hole but have been trying make sure to keep my short side snipes to a minimum.

@natesous10 going to give your build a shot for fun.

 

u guys actually stick to one build? i probs gone through like 10 builds since the game came out.

 

i have tested a few. This is just what i like.

 

I feel like when I switch I play worse. It's 100% in my brain but it stops me from switching often.

 

ss snipes has nothing to do with your stats but how u position your goalie. but you will still sometimes get that aids blocker save animation where goalie falls on his ass and puts his blocker up animation regardless what the stats are bc of rng.

Disclaimer: I don’t really know what I’m doing. I don’t test goalie builds, this is the build I picked when I first got the game, and I haven’t had issues so I just don’t change it.

Primary trait: sealed five hole1
Secondary trait: up high 1
Specialty: PK energy or I will use brick wall.

Help me get a couple 30 win season in the ahl hopefully to do the same in the nhl

I ran Five Hole 2, blank, One-Time Specialist all year but right now....
I'm workshopping High 1, Five Hole 2, PK Save specialist.

I highly recommend 6'5, 215 as height/weight (Rebound Control > Agility)

 

That blocker save makes me want to quit LG every time it happens.

6'5 215lbs butterfly with Low 2 PK energy. It was sick for turds and that kinda stuff but the extra speed on the hyb build is clutch on one ts and bways

I have ran this I think early in NHL18. Tried changing it around and never liked any others

I find going to level 2 on some things, makes some stats take to much of a hit

 

You haven't had issues with height at all? 6'3 seems relatively short to me, I feel like I would have to play more aggressive to cut angles leaving cross-creases open.

 

Why so light?

Pk energy ( really anything here works)

Let's be honest nhl 20 is down low rebound everything or mid shots 90 percent shots come low so position for high and percentages should go in your favor I run hyb on east for better speed and I run butterfly when I'm on my home west

 

Through trial and error just feeling most comfortable with it. Making more saves, etc.

I honestly don't have an explanation beyond that.

 

I actually like to cut off angles more so I went a tad smaller because I needed the speed. I felt that max height and more weight slowed me down.
