Good positioning and bumps seem to do the trick.

Thx for the Defense 101 tips. Idc what works, the point is you should be able to use the defensive tools the game offers instead of serving penalties you didn't commit.

Im no rocket scientist here but if one method works better than the other, you should go with the method that works better instead of saying "Idc what works" and keep doing what doesn't work as good. Takes a bit more skill, practice, and good support/communication from teammates to be successful but if you don't want to adapt to a system that was put in place in NHL 19, continue enjoying your view from the penalty box for hitting x/r1.

Gotta say too, you are the last person I expected to see this thread from. You average over 100 hits per season. Just keep hitting, and work on being better positionally.

Bad timing(press X too late) and bad stick positioning from your played. Thats 2 well deserved penalties.

Stick lift is most of my defense, ask any LW. Works great for me, stick locking it down. Good luck friend

Thanks, just pointing out an error/glitch that occurred in the game. Both clips dont show any evidence or animation of a slash. & I should rephrase, its happened 2 or 3 times, not a lot. I had 4pim my last szn in LG, I know how to stay disciplined and you obviously know I know how to hit people. I said "idc what works" because I know what works. And you should know that, I've played you multiple times with whoever and have clamped. I'm saying it's ridiculous we cant use those other methods without the high risk of recieving a penalty, and that it should be fixed so goofy shit like this doesn't happen.

I don't think it's ridiculous because then you have guys just spam X or R1 whenever they want and get rewarded. It's still a viable option to poke or stick lift but like I said before, if one method works better than the other, go with the better method. In this case it's not poking/stick lifting.

Yea and guys spam L2 and get rewarded, and in cases allowing them to skate in the opposite direction of their built up momentum. It's all about abusing the mechanics of the game right? We don't make a perfect poke, it's a tripping, regardless of stick checking attributes. Guys who spam should get called but players should be allowed to poke a few times (depending on attributes) instead of most calls looking like a dive because the end of someones stick blade barely tapped the opposing players skate. The defensive attributes are not properly demonstrated in the gameplay. I would turn down the incidental stick contact because its random as fuck and turn up stick checking to accurately meet the players attributes.

As a former pro stick lifter, across the body stick lifts are not way to go.

I miss when you were able to kneel down anywhere on the ice in the off and def zone to stop a puck or pass attempt / take-away the puck ... but now days its a tripping penalty most of the time
