Obviously there has been a lot of questions about the corona virus and how serious it really is. It must be bad enough to cancel all of these professional leagues and shut down businesses. I was just curious if you all thought this was warranted or if everyone is overreacting.
I think it’s warranted. The Northern Italy Health Care sector is in complete turmoil, due to the amount of people who were infected, and the Health Care workers who were infected by treating people with the virus. The entire infrastructure of their health care system is on the verge of collapsing as they do not have enough staff to properly contain it. Therefore I believe an overreaction is necessary, to ensure we do not face similar problems. People need to get over their western superiority complex and realize that these things can happen in Western world too.
To be fair, Italy also ranks 2nd in population over the age of 65 so not surprising their numbers are so high
a 3.4% death rate (1.1% for healthy people, 0.1% for Young people under like 50), no we are not going to die, The worst of whats gonna happen is going come from the mass hysteria and panic caused by the completely irresponsible News media companies who have way overblown what this virus is for views and clicks. The steps the USA has taken (Banning Travel from and to Europe) are necessary and should have been done weeks ago, Unforunately in Canada people were dumb enough to elect Prime minister so incompetent (Not once but Twice) that he has yet to take similar action. You shouldn't be afraid for yourself, you should be fine. You should be afraid for grandparents and the elderly who are hit harder by this virus (14.3% death rate). Encourage them to isolate themselves!

While yes the media does like to overblow things as you've put it. Raising attention in any way for a virus that the WHO has labelled a pandemic in anyway whatsoever is a positive. It does not matter if you think this virus is dangerous to yourself. It is highly likely a virus or invasive species or something will at some point greatly change our lives as humans or end them altogether. Maybe not in our lifetime or the next. The stupidity and arrogance of those that refuse to listen to anyone but themselves and their own point of views will ruin things for all eventually if we keep going down the path we are headed down.
Lot of thinking but not enough facts. 1st people need to stop listening to dumb fucking opinionated lazy bastard who can’t fucking understand why they shit weird all the time but they never clean their hands and now think they are experts in epidemiology. START LISTENING to ExPertX- You know people that are the best of the bests, la crème de la crème caliss, They ringed the alarm a while ago. Go read CDC , WHO, a salad of specialists of different type( doctors , icu in Italy, epidemiologists, etc). I’m a person who likes to know what’s is going on in the world... you know the big stuff. So I catched that story very early. But I also know how crazy can be internet now regarding information.- Actually not having access to absolute reality drives me nuts.. but anyway. I really consumedl a lot of data on that. I applied my technique to filter crap , which is, when you find an important news , skip the media or validate who wrote that , his sources, look how they are rated on fact check websites , and find the original source and listen to the complete integral version from these experts. Not a 30sec biased pitch. Don’t feed your mind from dumb info , don’t build an opinion on such a critical subject which’s health, in the hands of randomness. They plan for 480k death in the US in the next 6 to 12 months.. that’s how many dies from flu in the world every year.. there’s a shit load of data that shows if extreme mesure aren’t taken quickly. you may not see a plateau in the curves. That means , we have a huge problem we never faced and we can’t mitigate. We need to attack this problem the hardest we can with all the brillant minds we have and make sure we don’t gamble with this thing. If we only saved a few ... so what.If we stop a major problem from happening that’s a big deal. But if we fail what would is the consequence?
That really doesn’t mean much man. Yes old people have shitty immune systems, but the fact that a first world countries health care system is on the verge of collapsing is scary.
Ya it's getting really bad every sport has there season cancelled until they figure something out it is pretty scary to be honest I think of that just going to work or shopping and so on... This is why it's so bad - majority of the population think this is a joke and laugh it off and create memes. People walking around coughing in the air for jokes to make fun of the fear and try to pretend they're too cool for a pandemic. Symptoms don't start for up to 10 days after being infected (and contagious) so these idiots are possibly spreading the virus. Just look at Rudy Gobert rubbing his hands all over every microphone and media table as a joke, 2 days before testing positive. There are a lot more people in North America that are part of the "high risk" group. Obesity, diabetes, asthma, smoking, etc etc all put you in the high risk group even if you are not part of the high risk age group. This high risk group is ~10% death rate. Experts are predicting around 50% of the population will be infected with Corona Virus. Let's put that into perspective: There are 544 of us in the LGHL (32 teams x 17 players per roster) 272 of us will be infected with the virus (50% of population) At least 25% of us are in the high risk group (smokers, fat, asmtha, etc etc - myself included) 25% of 272 is 68 of us in the 10% death rate = ~6.8 deaths 75% of 272 is 204 of us in the <1% death rate = ~1 death Therefore as the PSN LGHL community, we are probably going to lose around 5-10 (rounding, variance) people to this virus. It's not a joke.

Thank you for bringing some logic and data to this argument. The stupidity of western culture as a whole when it comes to issues like this drives me nuts. The same people who don't care enough about this virus are the people who don't realize just how bad of a future we are creating for our planet.

The problem now is they're finding out that a lot of people who caught it and got over it might now have permanent lung damage. It's like a particularly bad strain of pneumonia
