Connection issues on LAN

Hey I’m from Toronto and my ping has been awful this last month. I am on LAN running 60+ ping every game and I have 2 gig download internet. I have no clue what to do can someone help.

 

Right, my pings been running on 4-5 for the last 2-3 weeks now. Missing my 3 ping

 

How do people have less than 10 ping wtf

I wasn't even aware 2 gigabit internet was a thing? I'm pretty sure Bell and Rogers only offer up to 1.5 GBPS. Either way download and upload speeds only have so much of an affect on your ping. The main factors are how close you are to the server you're playing on and how you're being routed there. This is just EA having awful NHL server. I'm just south of you and get 20ms most games. I know someone in Buffalo who never goes below 30, and another there that gets flat 5. It's very much luck of the draw on how EA routes you to the server.

Can confirm from buffalo. 34 has been my best. Upte can go from straight line 14 to 70 on a daily basis also.

 

Idk if its 2gb but I know its super good nonetheless. But I used to run 20 every game in this house too its just recently when i got home its acting up. Do you have any suggestions or such?

 

There’s a really helpful YouTube video I watched a while ago (really easy to find) that shows you all the best settings to maximize your speed on your ps4. I was struggling at like 40-60ms when I used to always run like 15, changed my settings and got back to around 20.

Google something like “optimize ps4 internet speed”.

Unfortunately Sony has a pretty low cap placed on the PS4’s maximum download speeds, but this fix helped me a bunch (it’s a bunch of DNS settings and such that I don’t remember).

 

I’d also recommend running a speed test and calling your provider if it’s not what it should be. In my experience a lot of companies will start throttling you and wait til you notice to stop it.

Also, reset your router if you haven’t recently.

 

How can anyone play on a ping over 10? Sounds really laggy, borderline unplayable

Hold up, I don't play this game. This is the worst nhl game since 19, which was the worst nhl game since 18, which was the worst nhl game since 15. Got my cup and dipped

Come over, I have an extra TV

 

I got 1.5 and psn can only take on a certain amount but I normally get 12 ping on a good connection but also got a wired connection with 5-6 cat Ethernet cable

 

Ever since Covid hit and everybody started working from home or got temporarily laid off (about 3-4 weeks ago) my connection went from like 25ms to average 45-60ms. I’m just north of Toronto and I’m with Rogers and there is always a number of factors especially if you are on cable internet. The house I’m in is over 30 years old the integrity of the coax coming in to the house plays a big role. If it was available and I could get it, I’d definitely use fibe. When ever I check my connection during the end of the period my connection is constantly going up and down.
