While LG is a players league where teams and manager change every few seasons I still thought it be interesting to see how good and bad each LG "Franchise" is, to figure that out I created a formula to calculate how good or bad a team was each season, a Season Rating. I combined those Ratings together for each season and averaged them out to get a Franchise Rating. The Formula =PTS-(L*2)+(GD/4.25)+((PW*10)-20) (The result is rounded to 2 decimals) PTS: Points L: Losses GD: Goal Differential PW: Playoff Wins Them Sheets https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QFKHm04xwc1darjLVkK7BXyePBX9fcYnYQrGdV9cDPQ/edit?usp=sharing *Please Note This is only up to S12, I will post an Update once S13 is finished. Charts Stats I also ended up collecting a lot of information as i had to enter this all by hand which means i was easily able to enter in Franchise Totals. PW: Playoff Wins, GP: Games Played, W%: % of games Won, L%: % of games lost in regulation, OTL%: % of games lost in Overtime, TL%: % of games Lost, GFPG: Goals For Per Game, GAPG: Goals against per Game. Rating: Franchise Rating (avg of all Season Rating) Best And Worst Franchise by Franchise Rating *Seattle is Omitted until S14 is finished Best 1. Buffalo Sabres (92.79) Buffalo has most playoff wins (91), The S2 Buffalo Sabres have the best Season Rating of any LG team ever (279), They've won the cup twice and have been the finals 4 times, Buffalo has been blessed with many great owners and players and when there not it's only for one or two seasons, a terrible S12 season is what keeps them from having a rating over 100 (a mediocre S13 might drop them to 2) 2. Colorado Avalanche (80.25) The S1 Colorado Avalanche were horrible, However since S2 Colorado has never had a truly bad season and made it all the way to the top in S7 and S8 being the only team to Repeat winning it all, Their S7 team challenged the S2 Buffalo Sabres for best Season (275.47) only losing out by a couple of points because they had a slightly worse GD. They also have the highest GFPG out of any LG team (3.239) Colorado is a team that has been on the rise, expect them jump up when S13 is finished. 3. New Jersey Devils (79.53) New Jersey may have only won the cup once but they have the highest winning% out of any team (0.584) They also hold the Record for Lowest GAPG (2.545) and from S7-S12 they were a contender each season. 4. Dallas Stars (77.29) For the first 6 seasons of the PSN League their were two contenders in the Central, one of them was the Dallas Stars, They are the only team on here with no cup wins. The Stars in the last 6 seasons have been mediocre but never bad, having their worst season Rating be -20 (S11). The Stars will continue fall as they find new ways to lose in the first round. 5. Chicago Blackhawks (72.67) The other one in the Central, The Chicago Blackhawks have won the most cups in this league (3). They were the better of two Central teams capturing two cups during the first six seasons but unfortunately for them they have had some truly awful seasons which pull them down, without those seasons they would be #1. Worst 1. Philadelphia Flyers (-66.12) The Flyers are the only team with a 4 digit Total GD and that's not a good thing (-1005) They are last in literally every statistic, They are missing 3 games because their team was so bad that nobody wanted to on those teams wanted to play. As of S12 they have yet to win a playoff series and are tied for the amount of playoff wins with the Detroit Red Wings. Even with S13 Success The Flyers have yet to win a Second Round Playoff Game, Sad. 2. Arizona Coyotes (-31.41) The two of the three worst seasons to ever be played are both owned by the Arizona Coyotes, (#1.S1:-174.24 & #3.S2: -171.29). It doesn't help the coyotes haven't really been that good since then only posting 9 Playoff wins in the next 10 seasons. With recent success the Coyotes are slowly becoming a better franchise. 3. Detroit Red Wings (-18.01) Despite having a couple of pretty decent teams Detroit has never won a single playoff series, It Doesn't help that Detriot has also had some pretty bad teams as well. When S13 is done they will have the Least amount of playoff wins at 3. 4. Winnipeg Jets (-16.63) Until S11 the Jets had 2 Playoff wins, For ten straight seasons the Jets were below Mediocre never posting a dumpfire season until S10. Prehaps the Jets will have another 10 bad seasons before they win another playoff series or hell even a playoff game. 5. New York Islanders (-11.74) The S10 New York Islanders are a Modern Miracle being the Worst team (Statistically) to win it all, Not putting that team down that was an incredible performance, However Without that cup win the Islanders would be much higher as they are 2nd last in almost every statistic that isn't playoff wins. In fact the Islanders themselves are a miracle team never posting more then 97 points barley making the playoffs each season they make it yet they have 31 playoff wins. They also own the record for most Overtime Losses. What an odd "Franchise" Worst and Best Seasons by Season Rating Best 1. S2 Buffalo Sabres: 279 2. S7 Colorado Avalanche: 275.47 3. S6 Chicago Blackhawks: 254.47 4. S3 Chicago Blackhawks: 253.06 5. S9 Buffalo Sabres: 244.71 6. S1 Tampa Bay Lightning: 237.94 7. S8 Colorado Avalanche: 237.18 8. S5 Columbus Blue Jackets: 229.59 9. S5 Dallas Stars: 229.29 10. S10 Calgary Flames: 223.76 Worst 1. S1 Arizona Coyotes: -174.24 2. S6 Edmonton Oilers: -172.65 3. S2 Arizona Coyotes: -171.29 4. S10 Chicago Blackhawks: -153 5. S8 Pittsburgh Penguins: -144.29 6. S9 Pittsburgh Penguins: -139.18 7. S5 Montreal Canadiens: -137.53 8. S12 Minnesota Wild: -130.71 9. S12 Nashville Predators: -130.35 10 S3 Calgary Flames: -127.41
Just have to say I know you're not the biggest fan of my Mavs (that's an understatement), but I really enjoy seeing these posts from you. Nicely done.
I will be a big fan of your mavs if you beat Victoriaville. Don't worry my grammar skills will be better by the end of S13.
