Renaming the Lady Byng award, in honor or Recki.

Just a stupid idea I have while I’m still trying to cope with the idea that he’s actually no longer here.

I think renaming the Vezina is tough, cause he played fwd as well.

And I think creating a new award is adding too many awards.


The Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, formerly known as the Lady Byng Trophy, is presented each year to the National Hockey League "player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability".




I mean, come on. That’s him to a tee.

Is this a stupid idea? Maybe, but this is a video game sim league, I’d rather remember recki than whatever kinda lady some woman named Byng was.

 

This is anything BUT stupid. No one I've met through this league has been nicer or more pleasant than him. I second this.

I agree with you 100%. Those awards were named after people who made a difference in real hockey. Anyone to argue Recki hasn't contributed and made a difference in virtual hockey is lying to themselves. And this is coming from a guy that wants the rocket named after him.. The lady byng should be renamed after Recki

 

I don't think the league will rename an award.

HOWEVER, as some of you may know, Recki, Akon, and myself created the Vibez Selflessness Award which we award every season in honor of Vibez passing away. You better believe I'm going to use every ounce of power this position has to offer to create an award in Recki's honor.

Legends never die and as such we will ALWAYS remember Recki for the kind-hearted, loving soul he was to all of us.

 

Maybe they could cancel the individual awards for s14 and give them all to Recki

 

I fully support this also. That reward has Recki written all over it.

Another idea i had is for Recki to be added to the winning team and rewarded with the cup this season. After what happened to him losing the cup back on Chicago with what happened there and what not. Knowing the kind of impact Recki had on ppl, and how well known he is in this community, I’m sure people wouldn’t mind that happening.
