The Calder Memorial Trophy is an annual award given "to the player selected as the most proficient in their first year of competition in the NHL". As the committee shortened the nominee list, I do have to say that this season experienced another great contribution from the rookie group. It's always nice to see first-season players step into the NHL and be instant contributors to their team, and the past few seasons have demonstrated that throughout the league. @BlackSnowmanX , but @AceY_GramZ easily the most underrated player on this list and might just be the better player as well.

 

@SafirSnipezGOLD and it’s not close. Homie improved so much since the start of the season and went 8-1-0 (!!!) against top lines

 

@SafirSnipezGOLD started the first 3 weeks of the season at 5-4 then finished the season off 15-3-1. Safir for Calder!

 

Voting Snowman. He is a very good player and his line was bottom or bottom 2 of all these guys on the nomination list.

These rookies had it easy with blessed lines!

 

Most of them didn’t have to develop in the Always Hungry League either, hopefully they don’t turn into primadonnas!

I want to give a special shout out to my Kraken rookies who put up amazing seasons and in a less elite rookie class would have received some recognition!

@VehnoM_ 17-7-4 48pts +8, 8PIM playing on our 3rd line. One of the best defensive forwards I've ever played with.
@ADSpeedy 16-10, 80pts, +60, 6PIM. He was 1-5 with 5pts and -11 when we acquired him so he went 15-5, 75pts, +71 in 7 weeks with us. He's also tied for 1st in playoff scoring.
@Hypnoticxxlegend 20-5-1, 36pts, +83, 10PIM. He was 2nd in the NHL in +/- and 4th in dman scoring this season.

Just to be clear I'm not saying these guys deserve the award or a nomination, I'm just sharing my appreciate for them as top tier rookies that were a huge part of our team <3

 

Safir was 8-1-0!!! vs. other first lines, what a clamp artist.

 

Snowman a real one, and should win; but you guys disrespected my homie Hypnotic with the snub.

 

Cant vote for the winner here cause he isnt on the list. Congrats to everyone else.

 

Hypnotic was on our larger list of nominess then we got down to these 6.

 

@BlackSnowmanX is the only one without “ elite “ linemates. He had the best production ez dub for the kid.

 

Snowy is a no brainer... Our stats are the stats of players who played almost half a season with ECUs and not a single game with a real 1st line dpair caliber. Roy have been put in a shit spot as a top10 draft pick being the best dman on a 1st line and playing with ECUs for weeks after week 2. That's some sick stats for what we've been through

 

@Hra-ow is technically a rookie until he turns 15
