    Brute strength 2 in NHL 20 added 5 strength, but I believe only added 4str in 21. Just curious if this was intentional...?

    OFFENSIVE TRAITS
    Target Slapper v1
    : :eyes: Mainly used by Dmen but lose DEF AWARENESS and passes are getting through bc of low D awareness, decent option for fwds as the accuracy is higher than power
    Target Slapper v2 ::eyes:Mainly used by dmen, lose -4 passing, dmen need passing and i dont think the boost is enough to be effective with the negative, decent option for fwds

    Dirty Dangles 1: :eyes:Seen fwds use this the most, but only a few dmen. You lose stick checking and wrist shot power but pokes are good in the game and most fwds shoot in close.
    Dirty Dangles 2 ::poop: lose 2 speed and 2 balance, didnt see a single person use this, dont think any will as the positive from first are the same and negatives vastly outweigh

    Sharp Shooter 1 ::poop: lose too important of skating categories (speed balance)
    Sharp Shooter 2 : :poop:lose too important of skating categories (accel agility)

    Heavy Wrister 1::poop: lose too important of skating categories (speed balance)
    Heavy Wrister 2: :poop:lose too important of skating categories (endurance agilitity)

    Heavy Slapper 1::poop: lose 4 puck control which is one of the more important attributes as it effects holding onto the puck and out of dekes and receiving passes into shots
    Heavy Slapper 2: :map:lose -4 stick checking, decent option for wingers but not great for Dmen who prob want this for point shots bc they lose a vital part of their game

    Puck Handler 1: :map: lose 4 total points here in offense and defense, wrist shot accuracy and stick checking, not a good option, but not the worst option (saw some people use)
    Puck Handler 2::poop: lose accel and endurance, too vital of skating attributes

    Precise Passing 1::map: ok option but didnt see anyone pick it, think the negatives are too high (-8 total attributes one of the biggest increases and decreases)
    Precise Passing 2: :poop: rarely say anyone use this either a bit better than option 1 though


    DEFENSIVE TRAITS
    The Bouncer 1 ::eyes: saw this one used a decent amount, 3 positives which was nice but fighting skill is irrevelant, might be picked more if if was changed to strength
    The Boucner 2::poop: bad option, lose accel and puck control, one very important skating attribute and one of the top offensive attributes

    Defensive Minded 1
    ::poop: didnt see used very much, def not good for fwds, especially Cs which is an issue and just an ok option for Dmen
    Defensive Minded 2 : :eyes:one of the better options out there, decent trade off, people dont care about discipline though bc they feel it doesnt effect PIMS for humans, you effect them yourself

    Crusher 1
    : :poop: positives arent enough to outweigh the more important negatives effected
    Crusher 2 ::poop: positives arent enough to outweigh the more important negatives effected

    Stick Em Up 1
    ::eyes: decent option for smaller fwds and dmen, saw picked a good amount
    Stick Em Up 2 ::poop: didnt see anyone pick, the negatives are too high, effects 2 shooting and a deking stat, one of the few options with 3 negatives

    Interceptor 1
    : :eyes: decent option for centers and dmen, not ideal for wingers
    Interceptor 2 : :eyes:decent option for centers and dmen, not ideal for wingers

    Blockade 1
    ::map: a lot of positives here but durability not something people care about and shot block as well as your body still blocks the shot if you press LB, negatives are too big
    Blockade 2 ::map: a lot of positives here but durability not something people care about and shot block as well as your body still blocks the shot if you press LB, negatives are too big

    Hockey Sense 1
    ::map: thought this might catch on a bit for centers and dmen but agility is too crucial for those backchecking or defensive positions with the new pivots
    Hockey Sense 2 : :map:decent option but no one seemed to be picking it, fwds or dmen, maybe bc of the double athleticism hit effecting strength or endurance, maybe bc of the no marathon man



    ATHLETICSIM TRAITS
    Core Balance 1 :poop: effects skating too much accel and agil, brings small builds down in their primary area and hurts big builds even more in their weak areas
    Core Balance 2 :flames: one smaller builds will use for sure, gives them balance and most of them dont hit anyways, they go for pokes and will help them from being hit or knocked down

    Cardio Master 1 :poop:
    maybe the worst current trait in the game, again durability doesnt mean stuff to eashl players bc its only 1 game, not weekly or seasonal injuries and the negatives are big and in important attributes

    StrongMan 1
    ::map:not good for fwds, ok option for Dmen. Would be picked more often if the positive was strength and hitting instead of strength and durability (negatives are fine)
    StrongMan2 :poop: not good for dmen, ok option for fwds. Would be picked more often if the positive was strength and balance instead of strength and durability (negatives are fine)

    Quick Start 1
    :poop: i dont see anyone picking theis ever with a -3 speed, maybe if it were - 2, even then prob no people dont like losing speed
    Quick Start 2 :poop: i dont see anyone picking this ever with a -3 speed, maybe if it were -2, even then, prob no people dont like losing speed

    Power Turns 1
    ::eyes: saw some people with this on small builds for great agility, the -2 speed is midly reasonable for small builds since theyre so high and the, -4 balance doesnt matter too much since its already so low
    Power Turns 2::map: saw this picked a bit, but less than 1, the -2 speed is reasonable for the boosts but the -5 endurance is a lot without marathon man, saw 1 pucked more than 2 or guys who were using 2, switching to 1



    :flames: - good option - being used, good for most builds
    :eyes: - average option - being used, but only for certain builds
    :map: - decent option. being used for fwds or d not good for both, had potential if altered to be improved
    :poop: - bad option, not being used

    I mean, even the :eyes: ones are borderline why should I use this?

    A majority of traits in this game seem like they threw a dart at the wall to see what it would take away from. And any trait that provides a useful bump in stats takes away at least one but usually multiple things from your athleticism which is just nonsense. They won't hit a good balance trying to limit everyones build to AHL 4th liners.

    Remove the negatives, let creativity run wild. I mean your own list basically shows maybe 5 traits people will use out of the 38.

    You’d think the fact that a gamechanger says 19 of the traits are worthless out of the box would signify to EA that something is wrong...

    To elaborate its the negatives that are making people drawn to specific traits and mostly cause they make so many absolutely useless. Specific builds would want specific stats boosted so why not let people get creative with it. And if people are gravitating too hard towards one trait cant they nerf and buff traits? Like is it so hard to do what most popular games do and balance the fucking game with statistical analysis... okay i get it keeping people addicted to hut is all that matters. We should be greatful that they entertain our thoughts...
