Please Vote! S39 AHL Playoffs Preview

After 9 weeks, the most exciting part of the season has arrived! It is finally time for this seasons AHL playoffs. How many upsets will we see this time around? How many game sevens? Today, I will be reviewing all 16 playoff teams and giving my point of view on the round 1 matchups. Good luck to everyone participating in the playoffs!


East Atlantic

1. Bridgeport Islanders

Finishing with 136 points, it is fair to say the presidents trophy winners have dominated all season long. @SouPerSaiyan and @skyre5 with a lot of help from there NHL owner @ZestyBumCheese (letting them have 5 DPs and a very valuable NHL send down @aimNclu7ch) built a strong contender team that have the talent to potentially go on a long run. @TITOTHICMEAT stinks

2. Charlotte Checkers

After a tight finish for 2nd place in arguably the hardest division in the AHL, @killamilla6 and @Bartlettt built 3 lines that can compete. However, they did go through some drama during the half way point of the season. They traded Scarn x Madness to Rochester in return for Garbzzzzz. This trade caused a lot of drama in Charlotte's locker room. One of the best goalies in the AHL IORIO EMPIRE and l Sleatz X 19l both asked out of Charlotte after their irl friend got moved. Both of them proceeded to get moved for multiple picks... Despite the tough moments they managed to finish with 113 points and look to have a long and competitive series vs Hartford.

3. Hartford Wolf Pack

Hartford lost a lot of key players throughout the season: Clamonttt, Weavss, AoN x CLUTCH, Amirov l27l and starting goaltender Kahkonen l34l. Despite all the bans, @l Kessel x 81 l still managed to keep the team competitive and finish 5 points behind second place in the Atlantic. I am expecting Hartford to put on a fight vs Charlotte in the first round and potentially pull out the upset.

4. Lehigh Valley Phantoms

For the most part of the season Lehigh was fighting for the last place in the Atlantic. They started going on multiple winning streaks which lead them to clinch the final spot with 99 points. Being in one of the best divisions, if there is a team who can upset the #1 seed it could potentially be this squad. Shoutout to the boys @RY0NN and @vMvtt for building a decent and competitive team. Hopefully we see a good series vs Bridgeport!

2. Syracuse Crunch

Finishing with 98 points, Syracuse finished 2nd in a weak division behind Belleville with 129 points. It was clear after week 3-4 that Syracuse was gonna run away with 2nd. This team has there strengths starting with their goaltending. Date Mist and hellebxyck are 2 really good goaltenders to have considering the team in front of them. Going to be interesting to see if Syracuse can find a way to come out of the North.

3. Toronto Marlies

It came down to the last night of the regular season to settle seed 3-5 in the East North division. With Toronto's top line going 3-0 they clinched 3rd seed to play Syracuse round 1. This team managed by @Yzerman Returns and @Strizzy x06 had a rough season but was thankful that the East North stinks. I am a fan of their top line and do think they can compete. I think this round 1 matchup should end in 6 or 7 so it should be a good one to watch.

4. Laval Rocket

Finishing with 88 points, Laval clinches 4th seed to play the Belleville Senators in the first round. Im gonna be honest, I dont know what this team is doing. They have ECUs playing mostly every night and yet they made a playoff spot. Also, they lost QC Morel this week who got a 3 season cap ban which is a huge loss. Do I think they have a chance vs Belleville? Yes they will take out the brooms and take them out in 4.

1. Grand Rapids Griffins

Finishing with 127 points, GRG had a very successful regular season. Top 5 team coming into the playoffs in my books and are very capable of winning it all. They did not change much throughout the season so the amount of chem is important and I can see that being a reason to going far. Very good and talented team managed by @mashle93 and @l Risto l .

2. Colorado Eagles

Finishing with 117 points, the Eagles also had a very successful season. This first round matchup might be the hardest one to decide yet. On one side managed by @xFalsexHopex and @R4ph Th3 G4m3r who built 3 comp lines. Im a big fan of their D core led by Eddie Shore candidate @Fleury l8l. Then you have @SweatedOrb5 who popped off this season finishing 22-2-2 (90P, 34G, 54A). To conclude, im expecting a good series vs Rockford from these Eagles.

3. Rockford IceHogs

Finishing with 116 points, Rockford will face the Eagles in the first round. The IceHogs have really good forwards but no so great defensemen. They have 5 dman as of right now so they will need multiple ECUs to fill for them. Managed by @T E A L x 17 and @brax96, should be a interesting matchup first round vs the COL.

4. Iowa Wild

Finishing with 96 points, I do not think GRG will have a easy first round pass. Iowa have some good chem and very talented players. @LazyKitten90760 and @TopTittens known as the horny duo have been playing with each other for a long time so that line can 100% pull out an upset and get wins for the team. Managed by @BozWPG and @xT S P 0 0 N, I feel like Iowa can make GRG work hard for the series win.

Henderson has my vote for winning the west. Managed by @The AB Show and @Tibbernac, they built a team all around chemistry. These guys are all in a party every night vibing together and not to mention that they have one of the best forward core in the league. If these guys stick to the gameplan and not commit to Madden mid series (@Tibbernac), they will not get eliminated any time soon.

2. San Jose Barracuda

Finishing with 113 points, the Barracuda have won there last 8 games and are clearly on fire. Thanks to that streak, they clinch 2nd in the division finishing 2 points ahead of Bakersfield. Managed by @Vahey x 19 and @Its a Full Send, this team is just clicking and if they continue there performance I can see them beating a talented Bakersfield team.

3. Bakersfield Condors

Finishing just 2 points short of second place in the West Pacific, the Condors have the experience to go far in the playoffs. Managed by @lPastrnak 88l and @RiCo505, one of the best management duos in the league are back one again in the AHL along side @Pearson x 70 chasing the Calder Cup. They had a successful trade deadline acquiring basically a complete 3rd line from Hershey which helped there struggles. This team has the best game 7 lineup in the AHL so if they gonna beat San Jose... its gonna be in 7.

4. Ontario Reign

Finishing with 106 points as a 4th seed is odd but that just proves how competitive this division was. Ontario will face Henderson in the first round so its going to be a hard challenge for them. Managed by @Dad of Five 81 and @Cam19, they built a very balanced team. Going to be interesting to see how this series ends but I have faith Ontario could steal some games.
