NHL 22 Beta Feedback (Gameplay and Bugs)

NHL 22 Beta was released today 08/30/2021 for Xbox one, xbox series S/X, ps4 and ps5. The technical test will last from 08/30/2021-09/08/2021




If you have any GAMEPLAY FEEDBACK, BUILD FEEDBACK/IDEAS or come across any BUGS, please post them here and we will relay them to the developers or show them this thread in order to get the game ready for release




Example

Gameplay
1.) Pass receptions - pass receptions on long passes can be bobbled or missed
2.) Stretch passes - stretch passes were made less accurate, especially on the backhand


BUG
Wall Run - will be patched when game is released


OTHER
1.) Stamina - player stamina doesnt regen fast enough (Add stamina regen similar to when players had marathon man on or increase stamina regen in-between whistles more)

I thought Brodie already made a post like this? But ok. I will say that goalie needs to be tweeked. The right stick is atrocious, remove desperation save rs down. Or bring back anticipation stick.

Goalie is slow overall again.

Minor but black text against a dark bg in the player list screen between periods at the bottom

Also chel challenges randomly pops up during game on occasion

When you pause during game play the pause menu title pops up in the upper left hand corner for the rest of the game when the player list is up

When you adjust display settings during the game they don't take effect (x-factor icons), size of the indicator, etc.

 

Guys, i don't think this is a thread to be asking for codes. I am assuming he wants the comments to be feedback on the beta. I am sure he would make a separate post for code giveaways if that's what he wanted.

Initial thoughts:
-Goalie interference penalties are a thing again! Scored a goal but called it back and got a penalty for it
-Shot blocking is super nice, LB is so much nicer too. Looks legit and effective
-Protect puck is really nice now, can really power to the net
-I really like that it's not black and white between missing a pass and intercepting it. You can actually deflect pucks away.
-You can whiff one 1ts if the pass is a bullet
-Might be in the minority, but I like the passing so far. Passes where you aren't facing the receiver is actually hard and now automatic. And passes where you are looking at the player it is fairly easy. Also not many forces so far due to the deflected pucks
-Tip animation look nice, haven't seen a deflection goal yet tho.
-Directional goalie poke is a nice add

-Vibrational feedback from hits and shots seems lacking or delayed
-Not a big difference in speed. Did a speed test with a buddy in practice. 82 speed vs 89 speed and the difference was maybe 3-4 feet from goalline to goalline.
-Bumps are OP but I like that the player getting bumped keeps his momentum rather than slow down
-Haven't seen a tripping penalty yet.....
-Don't like the build height limitation. Wish you could make a 6'0 PWF or 6'3 PLY imo.
-Lose the puck too often on dekes with high dekeing

 

- Passes being bobbled or missed by teammates in general is quite annoying, but if it stays as is I think we will adjust to it. Just need some consistency between pass speeds, it seems to be chosen at random despite how long you hold your right trigger for.
- A button puck protect is fantastic
- Right stick is as responsive as its been in a long time, that is absolutely massive
- Tripping penalties don't happen as often as they should, but the new falling animations are absolutely hilarious
- Still missing nets on things you shouldn't miss nets on
- RB dekes are still too slow and too inconsistent to be something you can use often
- Game speed is still too slow IMO and I didn't notice a difference in my own player when I was using 83 speed versus 90 speed
- Defense overall I feel is much better, improved pass pickoffs and deflections


Overall IMO I'm pleasantly surprised, with a few minor tweaks to passing and some adjustments on the success rates of RB dekes and I think we have a good product.

As far as builds go, I like the idea but I still do not like the height/weight restrictions. I should be able to create a 5'7 grinder or a 6'4 sniper if I wanted to, there is no reason to not allow that considering it is the case in the real NHL. I also don't like how you need to have a specific skill to a certain level in order to equip some abilities and skills, doesn't make sense that I need 70 durability if I want to be able to use a trait that gives me +2 to balance.

 

Please give us a setting option that allows us to turn off the dynamic graphics that pop up when taking faceoffs or penalties

 

A lot of the issues have already been covered but there is something wrong with the camera angles. It almost feels like nothing is locked and the camera angle is in motion. You need to constantly switch back and forth between your player and the puck. Used the same exact settings from 21 to 22 so not sure what is messed up, but the camera angles feel weird.

 

Cameras are jacked up. Vibration on ps4 version seems non existent. I like the build customization. It leaves room for a lot of different possibilities. Need a way to mute the woman constantly talking. Also need a way to remove X factor icons from above the player heads during play. Too distracting when it's already tougher to see/find the puck. I don't think there is a good enough discrepancy between the player indicator with/without the puck.
