Hello, please lower your expectations. Let me preface this by saying this is going to be awful. I am probably the least qualified person to make this considering I haven't been eligible for this tournament in over a year now. However, it seems like every season an AHL manager makes one of these and I fit that role so here I am. If you disagree with what I have to say about your team, then prove me wrong. I'm not psychic and this is LG media; it's supposed to be biased garbage that ages like milk. Let's do this. Austria: This looks like a real mixed bag. You've got some good, you've got some bad. It's exactly what you'd expect from a WJC roster. They've got one of the stronger defense groups in this tournament but I don't have a ton of faith in these forwards. Don't get me wrong, they have some good players but I'm not seeing the depth. Czechia: I just like this team. I've played with/against a lot of these forwards before and these are talented people with some good personalities. They have a couple of AHL quality defensemen too which are surprising to see in WJC. Barring a catastrophic meltdown, this team will be one of the best in the tournament. Great Britain: This defense is going to be tested. I can piece together what I'm expecting to be the top pairing but a lot of question marks appear after that. Forward depth is also not as great as it could be. If this team is capable of leaning on their top players, they'll be okay. Latvia: Something that often goes overlooked when building a team is chemistry. This team will have that. This team looks like the Swift Current roster from my last season in the CHL. Aubzz knows what he's doing. The forward chemistry should be off the charts and they have a pretty competent group of defensemen. This is another team that should be in a good position to win it all. Quick break. How's it going, everyone? You guys enjoying this? No? Well then leave. Why are you here? You knew what you were getting, I made it very clear in the preface that this wasn't going to be good. Where is TuckItTeal? Tell him to do this. ALRIGHT, MOVING ON. Norway: Five. I recognize five players that played in the AHL on this roster within the last couple of seasons. Now that doesn't necessarily equal success, but in a WJC draft it is very impressive to string together that many talented players. TeflonDon is one of the best players in this tournament. They've got depth on defense and depth on offense. Something worth noting is that several of the players on this team have been known to have egos when things don't go their way. This team could finish anywhere and I wouldn't be surprised, but I want to believe that there is enough individual talent to make them a serious threat. Slovakia: I want to like this team. I like Worf and I think he likes me. If you are Worf and you are reading this, hi Worf. I think defensively they have some good players too. I just don't know if they have the offensive firepower. A lot of people on this team have played together in the past which is a huge plus. This team could 100% prove me wrong and I'd be fine with it since I like a lot of people on this team, but I don't think this team is as stacked as some other teams. They're still going to be a tough team to beat on any given night; definitely not a bad team. USA: This team has a lot of former owners. That isn't relevant but it's something I noticed, so enjoy that fun fact. Is this a good team? Maybe. The name change doesn't have me fooled, Mxdano is one of the best players I've ever played against in LG. That alone is worth something. This team is just a massive wildcard in my opinion. I don't know anything. Maybe I wasn't the best option to make this. Who are half of these players in the tournament? USA! USA! USA! I'm spiraling but I've made it this far so I might as well wrap it up. Some of you are probably wondering why I didn't mention goalies. There are 2 reasons for this. Firstly, I don't know many of them so it would've been tough to accurately judge them. And more importantly, I'm a winger so I don't respect goalies. My prediction: 8. Great Britain 7. Austria 6. USA 5. Slovakia 4. Norway 3. Czechia 2. Latvia 1. The fans But for real, play to have fun and ignore the haters. I know a lot of people that take media posts too seriously. I am proof that any idiot can make these. Continue to read media posts if they entertain you but don't take them to heart. Good luck to everyone in WJC. I hereby retire from media.
Final Standings: 1. Czechia 2. Austria 3. Great Britain 4. Norway 5. Latvia 6. USA 7. Slovakia @Givens43 definitely could have done worse, but definitely could’ve done better as well, thanks for doing the media for @TuckItTeal
Fixed it for you. 1. The Fans 2. Czechia 3. Austria 4. Great Britain 5. Norway 6. Latvia 7. USA 8. Slovakia As predicted, the fans were the real winners.
